I believe many do have kena fried the electric appliance.

But for my case it a bit strange.

The aircon have been ON 7/11 for 19yrs, never fried before. It only have main MCB to ON/OFF.

The fridge as you know run 7/11. Same never fried before.

But the thing that always fried is the PC thing. Like modem, router, NAS etc.

1 thing that have to takecare is the voltage range. Most of the time, TNB voltage in the high side. It is like 240-250+V. Never been lower than that. So some electrical/electronic voltage range at 220V (china thing) I will be very carefull to buy.

Another thing is the switching spark. My switch socket constantly require to change when there is some abnormal during ON/OFF. It can be detect by some phenomenon from the electrical.

If you don't mind..

Can you send one of your lightning fried electronic to me? I can pay for the postage..

I'm curious as to what component is actually damaged..

We can communicate via PM for the payment and address..

My main use is timer. Set certain time to turn on and off
The occasional change of color. Sometimes dim the lights. My needs are simple
Can use mechanical timer but no so elegant 😜

Already have a mechanical timer for car porch. the timer hide ontop the ceiling. Other light not require.

Other area pretty basic ON/OFF. Do I need to change to use the phone to ON/OFF ? hmm.gif

What else?

Got referred to this thread by bro @ozak

Initial setting you need to turn on your house internet to setup with bulb, after lets say setup your brightness and timer on and off, will the setting stay on forever even if i off my house internet?

Or I actually have to ON my house internet 24/7?

your home Internet needs to be on in order for you to control the lights
they can still turn on or off by using your lamp's on/off switch (the light will be in the same state as they were when they were last turned on - meaning if it was on in Red color, you will get Red)

Setting is set in the cloud - you need to register a username at FLIX. You wont lose the setting as long as its on the Cloud

Sorry bro.. To explain my current exact needs.

Let's say now I bought the bulb, open my house internet to set timer to auto ON the light at 7pm and off at 7am.. After set already, i turn off my house internet.. Will the bulb automatically ON and OFF everyday 7pm to 7am? Or do i need to turn on my internet each time in order for this setting to run daily?

your internet basically needs to be running 24 x 7
if not the lights wont come on or turn off as scheduled
the settings are in the Cloud, hence you will need Internet to run the lights

Thks for sharing and good stuff. Home automation have come a long long way... This means a port fowarding rule is needed at the router for FLIX to process the commands to communicate with the wifi enabled lighting? Supposing each one communicates at port nnnn, then a port forwarding rule is needed. Before that even, I suppose the router needs to be on dynamic DNS if not already done if by needing to be in order entails this part?

Oh then good. That means the app on your phone is communicating with the bulbs and storing their setting somewhere up in FLIX. If no port forwarding stuff means FLIX only store the settings. There's no push communication between FLIX and the bulb but the bulb may be pulling the stuff from FLIX e.g. Firmware and settings. You schedule from anywhere but the bulb checks FLIX for it's settings. So it's somewhat asynchronous operation..cool!
