QUOTE(PF T.J. @ Jan 16 2017, 11:31 AM) Harlo... was wondering whether anyone here is familiar with slow-motion videography on a budget? As in the FPS is higher than 60FPS? probably a better thread to ask is videography threadNoticed that the Nikon J5 and Sony RX100 4 are usually the ones being mentioned, but are there better alternatives out there? I like that the J5 supports interchangeable lenses, but I don't like the small sensor size T__T |

Sadness, no d600 for CNY... it will cost me around 900RM to fix the shutter and mirror and dunno what... no quotation for 1755 yet.
I think need to accept a few jobs to cover the costs of repair. my d300 shoot way more still going strong, abused more but d600 died first. This post has been edited by gerald7: Jan 24 2017, 08:35 AM |

the forum only allows me to quote 5 pax, so anyways
QUOTE(Terbulance @ Jan 28 2017, 12:52 AM) Maybe you can go J One at Amcorp Mall and ask for quotation. Kinda hard for me, as im back in my home town already.Their service not exactly cheap, but their service is good. QUOTE(goldfries @ Jan 31 2017, 11:01 AM) lucky the lens been paid for with all the jobs it help me to secure. no regrets with the 17-55QUOTE(jchue73 @ Jan 31 2017, 05:41 PM) Whoa... I think that cost should be to change AF motor and lens barrel kut... I'm also facing same dilemma with my 24-70 that requires changing lens barrel and AF motor. Nikon quoted 2.5k but that was some time back. I guess it would cost about the same with the current currency exchange. Okay so @jchue73 is correct, its to replace the lens barrel and fungus cleaning totaling 2942 then 6% gst.If they go back to Nikon, wouldn't it cost the same or even more? |

QUOTE(Everdying @ Feb 2 2017, 09:54 AM) curious here, but why does a lens barrel need replacing? u all abuse the lens and bang it around til cracked? for me was lack of abuse... for the last 2 years. never dropped it nor banged it. But from what I can tell the aperture refuse to close, due to lack of oil. maybe the official policy is to change new everything |

Who knows... but if its common, then should not ask customers to pay for the faulty product replacements!

QUOTE(Everdying @ Feb 19 2017, 11:45 PM) i think that makes sense.they need to redo a lot of things. I think canon and nikon are the oldschools. sure many professionals using. but the bulk of sales from the hobbyist. dont forget dslrs market is being fought also by handphones |

QUOTE(Everdying @ Feb 20 2017, 10:07 AM) and what do hobbyists prefer nowadays? like the sony rx100 series is now into its 5th version... rather than risking something that is unproven. with high risk of pulling down the groups earnings. I still feel its good that they recognize that they may not be on the right track with DL series. (right choice or wrong, we will never know) I feel like Nikon is stuck. I feel as if they are just coming out with copies of other brands ideas just to check a check list to say, yeap, we have that as well. yeah, we have video.. yeah, we have action cam, yeah we have ....imo DSLR market isnt being fought with handphones...its just the social media generation that doesnt have the need for DSLR. the DL line of cos looked like aimed at the pros and hobbyists who wanted to carry around something lighter in their free time...hence with the interesting 18-50... what they really should have done is just release a generic model in the 24-85...and just KIV the 18-50 and 24-500. instead they got over-ambitious in trying to release all 3...and hope to maximise profit when in reality the latter is probably gonna be the one that will pull down all profits. Been using nikon digital cameras for a decade now. I have not seen anything impressive after d700. Sure, more megapix.. higher iso. less noise. But Im still rooting for nikon. yes d3s, d500 etc.. but still same thing. mpx, iso, noise. nothing major seriously.
How about other awesome features from Sony, eye focus tracking? focus peaking? Better firmware usability. Better sw support. Who here uses capture/view nx2 ? wifi, & nfc should be baked into the hardware by now. maybe higher resolution for display? so.. so.......... frustrating. *sigh* I have many friends leave the brand. enticed by better UI, workflow, product failures. IQ alone just does not cut it these days. I foresee, the only nikon body that I have left is the FE2. which, luckily plays well with my D lenses This post has been edited by gerald7: Feb 22 2017, 02:47 PM |

QUOTE(goldfries @ Mar 26 2017, 09:58 AM) If the light source is camera LED alone is ok but when you have ambient light and phone LED, it might cause a mismatch of which I find it difficult to fix - cool / neutral from phone but warm or even cooler lights from surrounding. Just like when we put colour correction gel on flashes to match the ambient lights. We can do the same to phone LED flashes. Basically you can gel them cooler or warmer with colour gels. Phone LED flash should have neutral colour temp. Theory should still be the same. But maybe its useless to try as you said its weak flash. The point you highlighted is definitely worth consideration, however if I were to light it I'll have to do it light painting style. Don't like it from single direction. If you dont compare http://myfigurecollection.net/picture/1731093 to http://myfigurecollection.net/picture/1724447 I think its fine. I dont mind the noise, of course cleaner would be nicer, but thats my personal pref. Maybe can look into noise ninja or something to denoise in post.
