QUOTE(techm @ Feb 16 2023, 02:45 PM) Just my 2 cents 1) Cable is more stable. 2) You can do POE, so only need 1 cable for power & signal for the camera. Power cycling/force reboot is easy. I just switch off my POE switch/NVR. 3) Less wireless signal being transmitted around your house, especially if you're planning to use an NVR to record the camera stream. thanks. ya i would think so, wired system will be more stable. let me ask my contractor first on the wiring part

Easily broken. thanks for the info. btw came across this from tp-link, i guess should be more reliable than those oem brands? https://www.tp-link.com/my/business-network.../?filterby=6224any users here can share some reviews? thanks

QUOTE(adamw @ Feb 16 2023, 09:45 PM) Why not top 3 brand from China, HIK, Dahua & UNV instead of Tp-link? thanks, went through a bit on these brands but can't seems to find some solutions for the wireless type, except Dahua has 1 which seems a bit basic and so much options on the wireless camera.

QUOTE(adamw @ Feb 17 2023, 12:52 PM) UNV does have some good wireless IP camera solution but is not carry by the local distributor due to having to apply for Sirim. For own used can buy from Taobao. But it could be Chinese version though. ok thanks for the info. let me have a look over there

Got a quote from my contractor's contact, as follows: - iDS-7208HUHI 8-channel - 8 cameras (DS-2CE56H0T-ITPF / DS-2CE16H0T-ITF) - DS-1LN5E-E cable (concealed) - Balum - 1TB HDD - 5A power supply
Price: RM4399
I did a quick check on the camera's pricing in Shopee, had a feeling that the price is too high. Am I correct?
And the system seems just a very basic one.
Can I have some recommendations, is the above setup good enough? And how much can I nego down?
Or better go for some better cameras / NVR?
Thanks

Side question a bit, I need to extend a few alarm points at my wet kitchen extension. My contractor recommended to just loop from the existing sensor at the original back door to the new doors/windows at the extended area. May I know is this ok?
Also I will have 4 points to be extended, and he's charging RM150x4. May I know if this is the market rate?
Thanks

just thinking out loud, in movies we see that the intruders will also take away the DVR or the HDD in the DVR when they leave, just wondering how do people make a backup of the DVR?
is it possible to do it via a NAS?
or a 2nd DVR located somewhere else in the house and link both via network?
thanks

Hi, Wanna ask about this issue. The upper part of my CCTV feed is distorted as per the picture below. The distortion is moving/flicking when viewing. May I know most likely is this due to the cabling or the camera issue? And the weird this is, when checking back the recordings, this distortion only happens during day time. The video was stable in the night time recordings Thanks
