QUOTE(nexona88 @ Nov 27 2016, 10:18 AM) Hmm got min amount? 250k?? For the illustration given by CIMB BM, in the region of RM200k or more (S$ purchase for the bonds). But heard from other foreign banks that foreign retail bonds minimum RM equivalent of 50k only.

QUOTE(nexona88 @ Nov 27 2016, 10:27 AM) Mind sharing the other bank name?? She kind of unsure and mentioned it in passing. I did not catch it and did not ask as it seems to be a smaller local bank.

QUOTE(nexona88 @ Nov 27 2016, 10:36 AM) I guessing its alliance bank because it's has ties to Singapore It sounded like it as I think it starts with A. Anyway, CIMB will be my choice if I am to go into this. Studying on this for now.

QUOTE(Tollebunsmith @ Dec 7 2016, 12:16 PM) William: any other safe investments as hard to buy Asx? I DONT prefer VP cos we lose 5% the mov we buy... so it works out we lose approx 1% for every year if we targer 5yrs... so we are getting basically 5.3%...which isnt much from fixed deposits and also the possibility of lowered unit cost... so any other suggestions? I bought CIMB bank retail bond recently with 5.3% to 5.5% return. Looking to talk to banks RM on foreign retail bonds as a way of diversification. Maybe some more local bonds if they are issued. Also topping up some more ASX FP. Safe ? Hard to say, it is just how safe only.

QUOTE(guy3288 @ Dec 7 2016, 09:10 PM) That CIMB bond 5.3%, and after paying the money on 23.11.16, RM said issue date is 16.12.16, cimb kaya lo collecting so muchmoney no need pay interest for so many days. I paid on 25/11. The BM told me the paperwork can be received before end Dec. But she told me she will try to print a copy for me after 15/12. Now no hard/soft copy indicating we are the bond holder.

QUOTE(twinkle5129 @ Dec 9 2016, 02:21 PM) 50% of saving in ASNB FP already. Now spending time. ( but no need to touch dividends from FP.) My family told me not to worry about them. Just travel and buy whatever I want. I don't need much now a day. Luckily I have 'stuff' to keep me busy during this 'early retirement'. You must remember to enjoy your hard work and saving too. to hard work and multiple visits to move your FD. I did that last May-July when all my FDs matured. Now with the mentality of extra '2%' dividend vs FD, seems like I can spend more for myself and family too. I hope I have the "courage" to put up to 50% of my asset in ASNB.

QUOTE(twinkle5129 @ Dec 9 2016, 03:08 PM) Was planning to top up EPF in Jan but decided to let the $$ continue hibernate in ASM. I placed the allocated 'EPF' $$ in ASM last July 1st instead of FD 6mths and happy knowing I'm getting extra $$. This year I also top up in EPF. Was thinking to stop for next year. Now thinking may continue in 2017. Then going to top up the FP funds in January as well.

QUOTE(guy3288 @ Dec 21 2016, 06:35 PM) definitely a good choice compared to poor FD rate. you may try MBSB negotiated rate 4.15% 6month min 50k, 4.2% 9 month min 200k, talk to manager, that is not board rate. i have not received my bond paper. have you received yours? Went to CB to see RM. She was trying to sell me foreign retail bonds. Thanks to your info on MBSB. The 9mth 4.2% is attractive. Instead of foreign retail bonds may go for it. CIMB bond paper, not yet received. Also cannot see it in CIMB Clicks. May see the CIMB BM asking about it and the Reverse REPO thingy. Anyway also planning to buy some more ASX in early Jan.
