i was trying to park some in that HLB 4.15% Tuesday only short term eFD ....
only got joint accounts, system does not allow me to do that eFD......

you did that already? must have individual SA with  HLB right, joint account not accepted?

As for FP hunting, i will wait till end of month again.
*
FD just matured yesterday. So did not do the 4.15% on Tuesday. I think someone said in FD thread joint acct not successful. Mine is single name for HL acct. Never try the HL FPX before.

Have been talking to banks for higher FD rate. Asked about retail bonds, sadly coupon rate 4.28% to 4.5% for bank issued retail bonds. Monday has to decide what to do with the dough. 4.5% OCBC FD maturing on Sat.

if you  find retail bank bonds above 5%, please pm me.
looks like i may have to go open SA also with HLB..GIA 3.6% vs  4.15%
worse i have more to come, ...dont know what to do with it,
simply top up some FSM UT and buy some shares,
may even have  to forego my planned month end hunt, just buy on any day, sigh..
*
U were lucky to get the retail bonds at high 6.x or 7.x%. Unless new retail bonds, the RM told me cannot get high rates. Just the 4.x% I mentioned for already issued ones., have to pay premium for it also.

Parked some sum in MBB GIA-i. Then Monday OCBC FD matured. Going to see RM. She recommended Affin newly issued bond fund with pay out 5 to 5.5% rate. Klibor 5% one also available, issued by OCBC.

All the hard work made me thinking, dump all to FP ! tongue.gif Have resisted the temptation !

Yeah,.. BB,... I used to think like this too,... so much hard work to diversify,... and the returns are lower than FP too !!!  biggrin.gif might as well dump all into FP and stop all the thinking,....

No dough is a problem, with some dough also a problem !

But keeps us moving, keep us alive !

Would u dump everything into FP, would u ? Meaning nothing else except FP ? devil.gif

I would do my best to exhaust all my avenues to get safer and better returns,... and after that, if still no choice, I would need to go hunting for FP units,....

I would try to get safe and moderate returns. But recently becomes itchy (don't volunteer for anything to ease the itch tongue.gif ), going for some more risky stuff like retail bond, bond funds, Klibor etc, in a way FP fund also. biggrin.gif

I wud advise u set an allocation for FP n park remaining excess funds in Maybank GIA-i while waiting for opportunities
*
Yes, have been doing that last month. In MBB GIA-i, on hunting days, stop the GIA-i, then end of day, place new GIA-i. Then repeat until habis.

Now also doing the same thing. Parked some dough in MBB GIA-i. biggrin.gif

Popped in to Affin Bank for a little top up but was told ASX systems at all banks are down as per ASNB.
No idea if it's only affecting 1 bank or all banks or when it'll resume again. Better check before Q ing for it.
*
I was in OCBC doing some FD, buying UT etc. Then casually drop in to a MBB branch nearby at about 3pm. Was told system down. biggrin.gif

retail bank  bonds  one time charge at purchase time only, min 250k, fixed  coupon rate at maturity get back capital.
*
In OCBC PB centre. Current running series of MYR retail bond yield not that good, 4.x%. Foreign retail bonds USD denominated one has 5.10% coupon rate. Interested ?

foreign bonds with currency risk.......may not be suitable as i dont need to use foreign currency any time soon
*
Ya, currency risk. I have been thinking that it may be good to hold some foreign assets. In view of RM going down, other than the gain from the coupon rate, we may gain from currency as well.

Your view on currency gain is based on current environment
Moving forward, v dunno the direction of MYR
*
Well, nobody knows what will happen in the future. But having foreign holdings to mitigate any currency movement may be good. There are some who will swear to S$ holding !

Other than US stocks (small amt) that I am holding, I think I have too much in RM. It is up to individual to decide. biggrin.gif

Yeah,... in the past, because of profit-smoothing, even if KLCI index drops, the PNB FP funds can still give out good dividends. Hence, I would still bet on the PNB FP funds if I wish to invest in the Ringgit.

So ASX FP is still part of your portfolio ? Small percentage ? hmm.gif

ASx is temporary place to park before move on to others risky asset & higher return blush.gif

I would rather say ASX FP, for me, is part of the portfolio in conjunction with other more volatile/risky asset. And of course, other more stable asset. biggrin.gif

Hard to say it is a stabilizer. More like range of investments with various return/risk ratio. biggrin.gif

Just to share on getting higher return, though not as high as the FP. tongue.gif

Yesterday after hearing from guy3288 that the CIMB bond has increased from 4.9-5.1% to 5.3-5.5%, called CIMB BM. Initially the 4.9-5.1% coupon rate is not attractive. Myself and family members later terminated some FD and grab small portion of it.

Thanks to wil-i-am and guy3288 for the info. notworthy.gif notworthy.gif

how to buy bond?

For CIMB bond, go to their branch. Other banks did not carry this one. But this one has been fully subscribed 1 day after issue (21/11). But try your luck as some people back out or don't have the dough in CIMB acct thus cancelled.

Talk to bank on buying retail bond. Some foreign banks only carry foreign retail bonds. biggrin.gif

It's challenging to top up the lump sum in 1 go plus to diversify into other asset class

thumbsup.gif

For me, it is diversification to different asset class. Rather than top heavy with FD. It would be shallow thinking just to place all into ASNB FP.

Well I would say still better to have some exposure in SG either direct equity or UT via FSM

After I bought CIMB bonds, the BM introduced me to a leverage method of reverse repo on S$ denominated bonds. Will be studying on this. Heard only another bank in M'sia doing the reverse repo thingy. Maybe wil-i-am know more on this.
