Samsung offers $100 credit to swap your Note 7 for another Galaxy phone
http://www.androidcentral.com/samsung-offe...er-galaxy-phone

With the brand damage caused by not one but two recalls, Samsung is offering incentives to Note 7 customers in the U.S. to keep them loyal to the Samsung brand. Anyone with the now canceled phone can claim $100 bill credit if they choose another Samsung smartphone, compared to just $25 if they choose another brand or a refund.

yes, this is the right way to keep ppl within the brand.

if offered... i might just grab another Samsung phone as replacement... but alas... we should be happy if SME don't botch this recall.

1. I have some issue with the speaker being place at the bottom. i like using my pinkie finger to support the phone and the pinkie sits right on top of the speaker
2. Edge glass. so hard to draw on the edge of glass.
3. Can be faster (greedy)
*
agreed on point 1 and 2... personally, i feel curved edges is really useless. might look nice but not practical on phones.

What I meant was that the phone would be kept in the drawer and powered down, not used. Right now, I still have yet to power down my phone. Feels sad to power it down. Did so once last time, this round, will wait a bit longer.
*
might not be good idea to leave in drawer.

if you have those metal moon cake tin... put inside there...

else, if go up in flames, stuff in your drawer might fuel the fire.

wah... that's abt rm800... i think if this is really offered in MY, i might just grab a mid range Samsung to last me till the next Note or whatever they will call it.

Guys, I would like to ask for opinion.
Previously i bought pre-order S7edge at RM2479.20. Used for about 5 months then sold it at RM2200, and pre-order Note 7 at RM2879.10
Now have to refund Note 7 and get back money.
Would you choose to buy back S7edge again? (cheapest i can find right now RM2500+) Or take the refund money and look for other brand?
If other brand, my current choice will be either 7 plus or OP3.
*
depends... 7+ got good resale value.

oneplus3... good phone for that price... you get extra cash for makan2, etc...

Would you buy back S7edge if you are in this situation like me?
*
it depends on why u sold off the s7edge... dun like it, too small, etc...?

if you have negative impressions about it, then no point. if it was just the temptation of a better device (note7), then i might consider... though the pricing isn't that good.

based on price itself (more expensive than when you sold it), i think i'd just stick with oneplus 3 until next year and wait for either s8 or note8 (or whatever it's called).

update 1:
just read the exchange details... well, ok also to go for exchange since can get rm300... smile.gif

SME announced refund/ exchange process...

i think they are kinda fast this time around...

my impression. it's OK in the sense that i think it's like the minimal thingy they do. if they want, i believe they could do more, but well, even as it is... ok la...

i guess they know there's a good chance many of these pre-orders are probably scalpers anyway and not fans... so maybe that's why the compensation isn't something that would make me really happy.

but ya... from what i can see posted on the SME site... it's ok la... i have no issues to pick with it.

just dem... i threw away my dem receipts just 2 weeks back la... i still have the SP boxes... i wonder if they will accept... i bring the SP boxes back to them.

will i recommend friends to Samsung? after this fiasco, the things we all had to go thru... and just the bare minimum compensation, i'd probably advice ppl to consider something else. there are other good and cheaper brands out there... unless mati2 mau guna s-pen la...

even if it's possible i dont think its a wise to take up on that offer. all contract duration * monthly fees should higher than the difference between your subsidized device price and RRP.

AND you'll be tied up to the contract for 2 months meaning no possibility of note 8 on contract if there's a good offer!

i'd rather get refund for the subsidized price and cancellation of contract, at least in the future i got more options.
*
agreed... only reason why i went with telco for note7 is due to the very attractive pricing for a NEW product.

telco bundles for old phones is usually not worth it.

I'm using A9pro now while waiting for S8 or Note8 hehe.. so far so good and yesss why can't samsung just put the led light 😥
*
i was doing some research on the phones i could get... and ya... really... other than S and Note series... Samsung somehow will put something really off on their other lines...

as you mentioned... A9... no LED notification (though some are recommending use of apps that will use screen for notification).

and... A series also considered high end... why can't they put wireless charging... hahaha.. i wanna reuse all freebies, if possible.

right now, wireless charging stand becomes a stand for my note2. yup, using it again... wiped and reinstalled my stuff... battery should be coming today... so, i'm all good.

no reason to finger point now..

if ppl dun follow news closely, they might no realise this is second recall..

and till now, I've not received call or sms advising me to stop using Note7.

I'm surprised Samsung Malaysia didn't blast sms to all..they should already have our details

funny thing is some1's parents here, who are not the owner of Note 7, know that people should power down the phone and stop using it...

sweat.gif  sweat.gif

if he can have the time to pre-order a Note 7, he would have time to at least get into the news? the entire fiasco isn't happening few days ago...it started like for weeks...if you tell me this guy totally got no access to news or social media for few weeks...sry la...i dun believe at all :/
*
haha.. true. he can't claim no social media since posted on Facebook.

but still, I'm surprised Samsung Malaysia didn't blast sms... they should issue warning via sms, asking ppl to power down the phone..

U guys think it is easy to blast an sms to each n everyone whois currently using n7?

firstly sammy doesn't owned any telco in Malaysia.

2ndly, yes they have the phone numbers...but not all of them were the active note7 users. Some preordered n sell it off bla..bla..bla..

About the software update to block note7 usage, i think it is not possible coz it was us/user who owned the phone. They just cant do that, at least for now, until they provide us a solution.

The user who claimed dont know anything about the news, is totally bs. Even in everyday coffee talk my friends whois not a n7 user telling me about n7 fiasco.

Dia xde kawan eh?lol
*
nothing wrong with blasting sms. it's not that expensive compared to this whole fiasco.

plus, it's in line with putting customer safety first.

they are calling ppl anyway. so, regardless of whether phone number is updated or whether is present owner or not, at least they try..

sms can say sth like please power down phone and use another phone. customer service will contact you soon to explain.

a few days back, I mentioned a scenario.. driving 100kmh on highway and Note7 catches fire.

someone said sth about highly improbable or sth?

I guess as long as not happening to self, one will think one is lucky and invincible...

out of the blue, i contacted SME (amazing, no Q) regarding the airasia ban and all, trying my luck to get a Note 5 again. She said the TOP MANAGEMENT is having a meeting with the TELCO to determine the next course of action for the TELCO.

.....
*
what someone said quite thru..

technically, Samsung Malaysia recall stats tmrw.. and telco even later? and no temp phone offer in the mean time... for these telco cases?
