in USA, it's a federal crime to carry a Note7 on flight..

iinm, up to usd200k fine...

please remember, Note7 treated no differently from explosives, lighter fluid, etc...

oh, ya.. whatever happened to those who said Note7 is safe and everyone else was just paranoid?

OEM charger is not supposed to be reason why a phone should explode. It is the problem with the phone itself. If the OEM charger got problem, it is the OEM charger that should explode, not the phone.

I already say that Galaxy Note 7 battery technology is used in the latest batch of Galaxy S7 Edge for lowering the cost. We should avoid Samsung phone for one year.

chargers may burn, but not explode.

3rd party chargers may cause batteries to explode if it's sending more power than battery can handle, etc...

Not true. Only phone can ask for power. Charger cannot send if phone not support. Please go back study your electronic engineering book.

ah, so all those fires on smartphones.. it's not due to 3rd party chargers like we see in news reports..

they are all lying to us... 3rd party chargers will not cause battery to explode or start fires.... it's the phone itself...

we had a hand in killing the note7...

QUOTE
Samsung’s rush to save the Galaxy Note 7 may have hastened its demise
http://www.theverge.com/2016/10/23/1337386...ries-regulators

...Based on this "incomplete evidence," and facing mounting pressure from consumers, Samsung decided to recall 2.5 million phones and issue new batteries, only to kill the phone once the replacements likewise began to catch fire....

and caused s8 development time...

QUOTE
...Even as the company works to recall each Note 7, it has begun to work on figuring out where to go next, and has delayed "the development of the Galaxy S8 by two weeks as engineers work to get to the bottom of the Note 7’s overheating problem," according to one of The Wall Street Journal’s sources within the phone’s development team...

a good insight into the whole note7 recall fiasco...

The Fatal Mistake That Doomed Samsung’s Galaxy Note
http://www.wsj.com/articles/the-fatal-mist...note-1477248978

...Outside experts have pointed to a range of possible culprits, from the software that manages how the battery interacts with other smartphone components to the design of the entire circuit....

...Gathering at Mr. Koh’s office at R5, the 27-story office tower overlooking Samsung’s sprawling Digital City campus south of Seoul, he and other mobile executives, including his predecessor, J.K. Shin, and longtime Samsung top lieutenant G.S. Choi, examined the X-ray and CT scan reports of the phone, which appeared to show heat damage to the internal structure of the battery, according to people familiar with the discussions....

Samsung offers upgrade program for South Korea Note 7 customers
http://www.reuters.com/article/us-samsung-...s-idUSKCN12O0GP

In a statement, Samsung said customers who trade in their Note 7 phone for either a flat-screen or curved-screen version of the Galaxy S7 can trade up for a Galaxy S8 or Note 8 smartphone launching next year through an upgrade program.

Samsung said the upgrade program’s availability elsewhere will be dependent on the situation in each country, according to Reuters. Presumably the company will be doing a lot of sentiment analysis to figure out whether to expand the offer or not.

considering those who rage here were told to get lost from the forum and we should only post positive news..

good chance SME will read it as "Malaysian Note7 owners are happy with recall".

once again, thank you to those who guys who first thought the defect don't affect them.. and then condemn those who posted negative news... and finally asking these ppl who share updates to get lost!

if you're one of those.. yes, you should be ashamed.

Digi haven't let me know how is the amount of refund is to be calculated  vmad.gif

Not gonna return until they sorted out the amount. Don't want to be on losing side.

honestly, i am not going to be too picky about this. one reason is that since there are rebate involves, it could potentially mean that depending on how long you're still on the plan, the rebate amount could be different.

however...

when i returned my note7 last week, i asked the Digi Store staff and was told:
* full amount to be refunded -- full amount as in whatever we paid on the first invoice (device + advance payment + GST).

but... device price will be in cheque while the advance payment will be credited into the bill

personally, seeing how complex this whole thing is and i think it's easier to just return the set, wait for the refund process to be completed... and then see what is the explanation.

interesting... and i thought the class action suit is only in USA...

and to think some said Malaysians are being demanding and ungrateful with how SME handled this recall...

yet, in Korea, they are getting some good deals... and still there's this class action suit... smile.gif

Hundreds of Samsung Note 7 owners in S.Korea file class-action lawsuit
http://news.xinhuanet.com/english/2016-10/24/c_135777532.htm

SEOUL, Oct. 24 (Xinhua) -- Hundreds of South Korean owners of Samsung Electronics' Galaxy Note 7 smartphone on Monday filed their first class-action lawsuit here, with the number expected to rise every month.

Harvest Law, a local law firm which represents Note 7 buyers, filed a class-action lawsuit with the Seoul Central District Court, demanding Samsung pay each buyer about 500,000 won (about 440 U.S. dollars) in damages for inconveniences they experienced in the recall process, according to local media reports.

but yes, we all felt the pain and anxiety...
QUOTE
Note 7 owners here demanded compensation for waste of time and anxiety felt while using the fire-prone phone.

The owners claimed they visited retail store four times to purchase the device at the very first, get battery checked, exchange the faulty phone with a replacement one and swap it with other smartphones in the end following the company's decision to discontinue the model.

In the meantime, they were required to download a program that limits the battery capacity to 60 percent and to reinstall all of applications for exchanged devices.

like it or not... fact is... all these is a waste of time and yes... money. in the age where everything is a service, our time = money...

The problem is I have never been told the amount was FULL AMOUNT OF THE PRE ORDER OF PHONE. All the people handling at Digi have no idea about this. How hard is to tell the customer that? If they can tell us that "The amount would be blah blah minus the subscription blah blah and depends on the date you return the phone blah blah" at least I got an idea hw much will I get back instead of sitting in the dark.

"You just surrender and go back and wait for the notice of the amount la" How can one feel good about this statement? doh.gif

the device price... it's on the receipt when you ordered, no?

i received a copy of this "receipt" via email. just printed this and brought it along with me when i returned.

this "receipt" clearly shows how much i paid for device, how much advance payment plus... GST.

which package did you go with? rm68 one? or...? should be quite straight forward for Digi... i mean to find out how much you paid.

well, as i shared earlier, according to thee guys at that Digi store i went to... they called "their finance team" to confirm (coz i had to wait like 10-15mins while they spoke to ppl on the phone)...

it should be "FULL" amount of whatever we paid.

but... ya, i'm kinda skeptical. still... i just let it be. if i am not happy with the explanation once the $$$ is in, rest assured, i'll definitely bring this up... smile.gif

hmmm... if they take any longer... it might just affect/ delay S8 too...

...As for what went wrong, Samsung still does not know what caused the fires in devices sent to customers as replacements for the initial 2.5 million Note 7s it recalled due to fire-prone batteries.

Co-CEO Shin said the battery might not be the only problem, suggesting the root cause may be more difficult to determine than had been hoped....
