Anyone keep this phone instead of returning to Samsung?

Xirality
am seriously considering if the refund is not inclusive cancel the contract plan cause switching to lower grade phone that will be obsolete in few months time is really dumb. nothing compares well to the note7.

I still can't understand why SME so stubborn and not do something to the pre-order owners. They don't really have to compensate in cash, it's really a good business strategy and service recovery to just offer some cash rebate like some countries do for any Samsung phone. I supposed the high price of their phone is contributed by high marketing cost too, the hardware cost should be quite reasonable. Just offer RM 500 to RM 1000 off the flagship phone la, why so stubborn and want people to switch to other brand. Don't think they make any losses with a couple of hundred discount, and they get to retain the loyal customers too

very simple, because of this person:

If the 'swap offer' no good, can we just keep the phone?

me and a few others plan to do that if the return terms is not good. they can't drag or confiscate it forcefully from you.

generally from SME seems ok. now to see if the telcos play ball and include termination of contract as part of the refund or not.

also, holy crap for those who are not the original purchasers but buy as second hand as it seems like there's going to be hoops for you to jump from.

I've bought SP from maxis. Wonder can I get refund?

But receipt throw liao! Who on earth will keep SP receipt for 2 months???
*
the diligent person? anyways, if you bought from maxis during the pre-order, it's in the system and they can look it up and re-print the receipt for you.

My phone ain't from maxis pre order. I only buy the SP from Maxis store.

If it's a charger or what of course I will keep the receipt. But it's a screen protector!
*
well, like you said, it's only a screen protector. hence.. tongue.gif

will hold out and not do anything on 17th october.

will wait for better offer and see as phone is working great with all phone updates switched off and fast charging switched off.

not going to switch to s7/s7edge cause would not have waited till note7 if s7/s7edge was interesting. now especially more so because s8 coming in 2-3 months time.

not going to refund unless telco agree to void contract plan and buy back original flip case. also, hoping that telco or SME give special priority for next iteration of note version by samsung as well.

to be frank, you don't need to be that paranoid. i still charge at least till 90% or fully. still carry it in my pant pockets when need to.

my input for safer use:

1. be much more careful of the phone shock status; avoid banging or dropping (this is most important)

2. if phone needs to be left alone when not physically near it, put it on a relatively safe place that won't spread the burn or burn through

3. you can buy a digital timer switch so that after x amount of hours/minutes, the charging adapter will auto switch off. you can estimate how long it takes to charge X% so you can input into the timer switch so you don't need to manually check on it always and switch it off yourself.

what happen if i refuse to return the unit? no intend to use it but just want keep as collecter item. does samsung gonna remotely shutdown or limit the system?
*
gahpadu
theoretically they can't legally shut off without taking some risks. what if the owner is lost in jungle or kidnapped or having emergency and the phone is their only means and somehow the phone is shut out simply because they want to force you to return it?

they can do that when the phone is reported to be stolen but when it is a voluntary recall, it's not all black and white. keyword: voluntary. hence you don't see any legal notices that threatens the existing owners to return immediately. you can see their wording use of the english word "should" littered on their note 7 recall pages.

that's why should buy original brand accessories.

not only fully tested way before other 3rd party producers but the design and margins is as accurate as possible with all considerations taken into account.

no call or sms from maxis for me.. when I call their Hotline, they mention that they still waiting Samsung instruction... very annoying because it seems Digi already know what to do...

sigh.. i also awaiting maxis feedback. am wondering how they handle for the contracted phone pre-orders of note7. went to maxis weekend also find out no information.

for a very very big company, seems like the no feedback is a mismatch to their company profile hmm.gif

i have a comment for all who think currently the S7Edge is not a good deal,

you have to add in one more variable factor for consideration. thanks to your beloved finance minister playing with the country's finances, it is estimated that USD-MYR exchange rate will depreciate further in the near term.

what this basically means is imported products from outside of Malaysia will cost more in the short term so that S7Edge that you're thinking may not be a good deal now may suddenly look like a good deal in the short term future when the price adjusts according to the exchange rate.

S8 and future Note/Stylus/Pen8 may also be way more expensive than the current selling price of their iteration right now.

Samsung just sent me a SMS and asked me to shut down my Note 7..lol!

same.. just received. Better late than never
*
they could instead send it this way:

warning, this is your last message. you will not receive any more warnings than this as you need to shut off your Note 7. we hope that you cannot be contacted anymore via your note7 but still hope that we can contact you from a temporary alternate phone to deal with the refund/exchange.

Might go with 6s plus until S8 release... than sell off 6s Plus coz fruit phone have better resale value or Samsung trade in option... will not rush and go for pre order nex time lesson learned 😂
*
mark this down for listening. have strong doubt to your statement and that you'll still go for pre-order next time to get the goodie freebies and discount on top line phone laugh.gif

so many have made their decision...and here i am...

still thinking should i refund / exchange

using my HTC m8...still usable but kinda laggy

after tasting what a new phone can do...now i feel reluctant to go back to old phone lol.gif

S8 another half a year to go, S7 kinda old adi <<< stuck in middle now, as per chinese saying...tak naik tak turun xD

fruit world, really feel like a downgrade and exp :/

headache now sleep.gif
*
i feel you mang. same sentiments.

my case i really do need an s-pen and the s7/n7 camera is really poison. is very very difficult to consider anything less.

so far, i'm thinking to get a note 5 at the moment right now as backup hmm.gif

refund/exchange depends how the telco handle those pre-order note 7 with contract plans.

Should i get Note5 or S7e? Need a temporary phone until S8 is available..
*
depends your requirement. if you value camera more and can forgo the S-Pen, S7E is as close to the Note7 as possible. In fact, it is receiving update software wise to function as close to Note7 as possible, as announced.

if you really can't live without an S-Pen, the Note 5 is the highest spec at the cost of external storage microSD and also not as greate camera.
