no product is perfect. at least after this fiasco, samsung should really plan properly for mobile development and allocate priority into QC/QA.

if they don't learn anything from this fiasco, then god bless cool2.gif

Yea but I'm worried because they specifically stated that we need to return the phone with the box.

I left the box in my car boot the day I went to replace the phone with a 'safe' one. I suspect a car wash worker took it. It wasn't empty, I only took out the phone but all the other accessories were still inside. sad.gif Sigh

why?!?!?! i would never leave such an item in the back boot of car when washing it.. bruce.gif

Thanks. I noticed that too.

But has anyone actually went to Maxis and settled the refund (waiver) this way yet? I don't want to be going to a Maxis Centre and being told that I can't - waste of my time / petrol / toll / parking / etc.

Since Maxis promised to call me, I'm still waiting for the call. And I've not seen any official announcement from them.

you doing refund? please update us as well. there are several maxis note 7 people here.

QUOTE(jerung72 @ Oct 19 2016, 02:25 PM)
That's what CS say. Zerolution deal is such n therefore no option for refund.

Now I'm forced to stay with maxis another 24 months. If ask for refund, they will know I'm going to go to other telco so they keep me against my will.

The new digi plans looking more attractive ....

I will still bring this zerolution n the extended 24 months to consumer Forum under mcmc. Hopefully there is still avenue for me to say sayonara maxis n zerolution after being with them for most of the time since 98 when they came to penang.

I may be following this route too if Maxis doesn't allow refund for my case. I'll see what Maxis CS says to me first.

if they force no refund and cancellation of contract, DO NOT RETURN the phone under any circumstances. highlight the issue to SME and facebook samsung and say the offending telco are basically holding the customers to ransom.

certainly we've waited long enough to choose a plan for a particular phone and if that phone is now defunct and dangerous, there's no point to continue the plan. we rather keep the plan option for instead a future note 8 or similar instead.

Ok. An Update.

Maxis CS just called me.

At first, they offered me just the S7 edge (and 2 other phone) options to replace the Note 7.

Then, I asked I do not want those devices, and would prefer a refund. The Maxis CS said no problem at all. Just walk in to the Maxis Centre and mention that you want a refund, and they will cancel the Zerolution contract (waive all future payments), and refund you 2-months Zerolution fees too.

Anyway, I will only know the real deal once I get it done at the Maxis Centre. sweat.gif
*
Yup. This was what is expected as their FB Maxis already mentioned this to be so. Hence very peculiar that jerung72 mentioned otherwise. Maybe the CS that deal with him is not up to date.

Maxis CS (+60367309022) just called me as well. Previously on MaxisOne subsidized phone contract plan for the note 7.

Options are:

1. full refund for the phone cost, all contract and termination penalties waived. no mention of refund for previous monthly fees.

2. just s7 edge on offer. asked for note 5 they said out of stock. sounds like got other phones but ima not interested in the rest.

aiya, forgot to ask all the ori accessories got refund as well or not (flip case cover + screen protector)

strange thing though is that he wants an answer by today on which path to choose hmm.gif

So pissed with SME. Returned mine yesterday but just a refund for the payment amount without any further compensation really sucks. At least give us some credit or money back as compensation. Want to go kick SME boss in the b****. Feel so bloody cheated. The phone was great.

do you know why and how they get away with this in Malaysia?

because everyone in Malaysia is like sheep that type. just follow whatever the beloved ruling government say even though to their own detriment. even keep voting for them time and time again even if they continue to destroy the country and pillage the citizen's money.

hence, i'm sure you'll just follow as a sheep and just return to them quietly without much fuss right? not like you're the type that is going to refuse the return and keep it and then make a big hoo haa and join others to make hoo haa to demand samsung malaysia and telcos give something better.. right? icon_rolleyes.gif

For thosw who buy from YES, if opt for swap to s7e, do they have the device ready?

no human being are mind readers to know whether customer choose for refund or to exchange for different model phone.

best to call them directly yourself to find out.

I will be going to Cambodia soon.

Is Note 7 completely banned in the air-craft? or it is ok to just switch off and hand carry?

Sorry, if this question has been asked, I have seen lost track on this issue.

Total BAN! Cannot bring on flight at all and cannot check-in.

if only the TS is someone who is diligent to update the front page with useful information instead of continually creating v1, v2, .. v9 threads, then don't need to always face with such question.

I will decide on the 5 November, but 80% opt for keeping the phone.
*
tomokomiki hey hey. didn't know there was a deadline. the previous CS from maxis didn't inform about this deadline.

same case like you. today i still have the note 7 and feel very reluctant to return in cause there literally is nothing close or similar to the note 7. it's just an awesome phone.

every day making me think think to waive the return of the phone and just accept the price of the phone and use it as is till note 8 comes out.

do keep up to date ya over here if you intend to do the same smile.gif

Stupid maxis
They charged me for contract termination on Note 7
Have to wait bill out and ask for reversal
Luckily my credit limit high enough
If not my line will get barred
*
mind to share how they calculate and charge for contract termination?

Samsung is pushing an update to Note 7 in Europe to limit the battery charge to 60% on Oct 31. Looks like they will probably implement this in other regions. If they do this in Malaysia, looks like I will have to return my Note 7.
*
alternatively you can properly disable updates from being pushed into your phone.

Don't think it is possible.  When they pushed the 1st update during the 1st recall,  auto updates was disabled and yet they managed to push it.  If it happens that you see the update being pushed,  you can pause it but then pause is just temporarily.
*
properly disable smile.gif

me and most others who know how to do it, did not receive the update that force the 60% battery limit in the first recall ever.

U can return or exchange..
Most airlines already ban note 7..

Fixed that for you.

there is no such thing as no options. Keeping it is an option. Keeping it with proper knowledge on how to keep, store and use it is a better option than the previous.

Just wonder still can get parts or battery?
*
doubt it. if you plan to keep it, consider it as a super rare antique. once broken, no more similar.

so take very very good care of it biggrin.gif

but to give perspective, you can consider it this way: if you buy a different second hand out of warranty smartphone, if you smash it like getting it run over or it burns up, it's still irreplaceable even if you have warranty or parts available

holy sheet. if following some of the logic of forumers:

these toyota drivers should just stop driving the vehicle. they can kill others!!
toyota should scrap all the cars.
those who don't stop driving toyota are murderers.

*sarcasm* LOL
