I don't understand why some of you still wish to continue to use the Note 7
There will no longer be any support or warranty from Samsung eventually
I doubt you can even get a good price trying to resell it later
YES I do agree it is in fact the best Android I had used to date but sadly since Samsung wishes all to return and get a refund , why not just do it ?
*
just some guess answers:
- if you still have support or warranty of any other phone but if you smash it up or total damage it, your warranty with any other phone manufacturer, although still available is as good as a blank piece of paper; aka nothing

- some people have weighed that the price cost of the phone with the possibility to use a great amazing phone up till the next iteration of the note 8 to be worth it

- the idea of reselling it probably does not even come up, like at all, for these people cause the money is not the issue

- cause if anyone surrenders it right now, there's nothing even remotely close of an alternative for use up till the note 8 release

- cause all of samsung malaysia's return policy is horrendous compared to other country and they will feel really cheated if they give in to such bullying

- oh oh, another one.. ever since the announcement of EOL of the product, suddenly the product burn out reports has been quiet which leads me to previous:

. hate samsung s & note line
. form a crack think tank team on how to destroy the competitor
. brilliant suggest combination of inception & infernal affairs
. form an untraceable money seed account to hire and bribe the right people
. lie low & await for opportunity while saboteurs inserted
. 2016
. signs that s & note line will overtake, time to trigger plan
. infernal saboteurs go to work
. samsung lose huge money from 1st recall
. samsung lose huge money from end of line declaration
. sit back, legs on table, smile. no one will know.

I bought a s7e but I felt the UI of the s7e is untidy and bad compare to Note 7. Anyone have idea when s7e can get Graze UI update?

Beside, my room wifi signal is quite low. I notice the wifi signal for s7e is not very good compare to Note 7. s7e can only get 1 bar signal while Note 7 can get 2 or 3 bar most of the time. This result is based on I check both phone at the same time.
I really hope that I could keep the Note 7. Haiz...
*
yup. i totally get what you mean regarding the s7e.

ya, same problem regarding WiFi connectivity. high suspicion that the way the note7 is designed gives a much better WiFi signal than most other phones.

in fact, regarding WiFi hotspot, i can get a distance of about 40m away from the note7 with it as a wifi hotspot and still get full bar with my other devices. that's just so insane LOL biggrin.gif

for those who do not want to return the phone, best of luck to you all that the phone can be used safely until the next replacement comes in.

not to scare u, but should anything happen during usage...you cannot take action against Samsung anymore...cause it is purely ur decision not to comply to their return program.

think carefully whether this is really worth it.. once again, best of luck to u!

since the thread OP sengkin95 does not update the first page thread with updated info, there are a lot of people who is out of the loop.

do you perchance have inside knowledge of this definitive deadline mentioned by samsung such that if the date is past, there is no longer any recognition of return of the note 7? if you do have such information, can you please do share the link? thanks.

otherwise, then maybe not simply say things that you don't know whether able to take action or not? cause another way of saying it is that the other owners wish to return, just that their date of return is not as fast as you? smile.gif

There is no definate way we can disable the updates with the exception of not connecting your phone to to the internet at all. Other than that, Samsung servers will push the updates to your phone whether you have disabled automatics updates or not.

Apparently someone say can  hmm.gif

the way you talk, i mean no offense, but clearly you're not in the knowledgeable group of android users.

the method is already well documented in xda forums. a lot of foreign people who still keep the first batch before the first recalls are still using the original pre-configured software of the note 7 and did not get the 60% limit by switching off and disabling properly. (i've yet to encounter malaysians still with first batch though)

oh wow the knowledgeable 1 sweat.gif

i am not opposing the idea of "properly disabling" the update pushed by Samsung...in fact, it is good for you that you found it and sharing to the others.

Why don't you post it up here publicly? Seeing that quite some number of people are interested biggrin.gif
*
no one is fully knowledgeable. btw, please don't misunderstand to take it that i'm saying that i'm knowledgeable. i just know enough that i'm one of the few who weren't affected by the first 60% limit in the first earliest batch of pre-orders even as i used the phone two weeks ever since the OTA was first pushed in malaysia.

no, i don't feel any need to publish cause the info is available publicly on google. and also there was many doubters to original before first recall 60% limit, when people said it is impossible to disable OTA update, so just leave these doubters be as they wish to. it's for those who still am currently using the note 7 until they can proceed.

well then, if you say so.

question, after first recall, some would have been able to disable the auto update, but how can it be sure that Samsung will not take another route to push the update for this time?  hmm.gif

or is your method fully stopping the update once and for all?
*
yup. it is just for preventing the OTA method only.

technically, depending on your permission given to which particular apps, those certain apps can in a way lock you out of using the phone as well. but if they do indeed proceed to go down this path, there is very dire consequences to the phone manufacturer and telco who did that.

how can you then trust the phone manufacturer and/or telco from doing more than that if they really can go to the extreme of out right bricking your phone. the PR would be a nightmare and you can bet your dollars that the android dev community will avoid ever buying from said manufacturer/telco any more.

Awesome man thumbup.gif , people like you keeps this thread relevant and alive.
Now i really freaking regret returning my phone too early.. at least could wait out until DEC 2016 deadline..  cry.gif

Like someone said earlier, it makes a huge difference in knowing how to properly use and handle your 'potentially' hazardous phone.
*
heh.

in regards to how to properly use and handle the note 7 phone if you're still having to use it, the precautions are pretty straightforward if you do sit down and think.

sharing some thought process here:

- disable the fast charging feature. my god. is it really that necessary to have your phone to charge to 100% in 1h15min than normal 2h? it's well documented fast charging heats up the battery no matter which phone model and reduces its life span. so why put it to undue stress?

- be knowledgeable in preparing for the worst. it is very unlikely the note7 will be like a triggered grenade when it malfunctions. what is more likely to happen is that you will feel a rapid climb of temperature of the phone before it engulfs in fire and the chemical reaction in the battery becomes more violent. so prepare your mind for that scenario. if it's in your pocket, just quickly instinctively reach in and throw it out. if it's in your bag, put the bag away from you. etc. etc.

- if you wish to keep the phone, please for the love of god, DON'T store in a compressed container as i read some people have said they planned to do. a very quick decompression of air in a sealed container WILL cause a pretty significant explosion and if the container is quite malleable or pliable, then you run the small risk of a tiny pipe-bomb triggering.

- store the phone when not in use on materials that don't burn through

- use a digital timer switch so that you charge the phone up to 90+% and it automatically stops charging. otherwise, just monitor the phone as you charge manually and don't overcharge.

- temporarily don't use the iris scanner. not saying that it is the reason for possible note 7 fire malfunction but then again until they find out what's the reason, you don't really need to live and die if you don't use such a feature.

- disable as much running services as possible on your android phone. there's no point to keep so many running processes (especially bloatware) that keeps your phone's CPU running and thus risking producing high heat from CPU use

- don't go to sleep with your head on top of your note 7 rolleyes.gif

on a typical day,

i drive out. at any moment there's literally speedsters from the same driving direction and opposite direction passing through me. one miscontrol can send their car hurtling towards mine.

alternatively, there's those large super trailer/trucks that are the same except knowing their mass, any high speed collision by them onto my car will produced crushed can sound.

when i go out for meals, i've to go to restaurants. as i eat, i pause and wonder whether there's some leaking gas pipe some where in the kitchen or above me running through the ceiling from operators who modified and renovated their establishments. will the explosion kill me or will the explosion send those metal utensils flying all around that can sever my artery.

sometimes while being out, i wonder should i keep an eye to everyone around me? you know, in case there's a mentally challenged person who suddenly goes amok knife-wielding in hand. ugh. getting stabbed will kill me. or how about the cases of colleagues suddenly breaking under the pressure and shoots up the place.

and nowadays with malaysia leaning to the far right extremist ideologies, welcoming and taunting ISIS fighters, what about the sudden suicide people that i have to look out for?

damn. maybe we should all live in a cave alone so that we can reduce all these every day chances of death..

.. nope. what if there's some kind of an insect or animal that is poisonous in there as well?

some people live their live in total fear. some people are fear mongers. some live their live knowing that there's risks everywhere in daily life. some just live theirs in complete ignorant bliss.
