I will not be installing any grills.

I'll alternate between security glass for smaller windows and security screen/mesh for bigger panels/glass doors.

Strata or not, its better not to leave the glass naked... u know how effective the current bangla guards are la...

I feel a doro at the staricase will look funny/ugly.

What I did was for every single bedroom. Solid wooden door (they look nice and HEAVY), make sure your frame is reinforced or metal, then put another strip of stainless steel on, to further reinforce the strength of the frame incase someone try to force it. Make sure the hinges are heavy duty otherwise you will have issues with the heavy door leaning. Then I got myself some 5 point ISEO lockset (italian lock maker).

Another thing is to secure your gas cylinder properly cause usually the intruders will use this as a battering ram to break down your door. I lock it up with the lock facing behind, tight space, unable to leverage any cutter to cut the lock.

I have a fren who is in construction, so I got the door for cheap around 800~1k cant remember, the lockset was about 1800 retail I think.. but got it for 1200 cause he was using it for some high end condo main door, so I sapu a few units from him. The frame, my house comes with metal frame built in, so that saved me some time, just need another piece of stainless steel not too expensive. Otherwise you might have to back your wall for the frame, thats gonna be troublesome.

U need to buy the lock first (or together with the door) cause they will have to cut the grove and install the lockset in the factory.

The security glass/mesh comes with their own frame, normal/standard frame is a waste of time that that brittle latch.. sometimes u use some force to close it also patah...

As for number of guards, that all depends on the JMB/RA and budget liao lor....

I'm not sure about TH, but TA has something touted as "anti climb perimeter fencing".... they put broken bottles at the top of the fence ka?

I think mine in TA comes with CCTV... but good point on the intercom, not sure if we have it preinstalled.

But its a panasonic package, its plug and play so easy to add another unit of intercom i reckon, perhaps your JMB/RA can get a bulk purchase and see which house wants in.

Its VERY important to get an active RA in a strata situation...

CCTV is to monitor your house when u are not around.

And to monitor your maid....

It doesnt deter anyone from breaking in at all haha

Also, strong door/window will also not stop anyone from breaking in... hence my setting up stronger bedroom door.. its to give me the 15 minutes I need ot get help/escape. Downstairs, given time, anyone can break thru whatever reasonable setup u have.

Oh but having some security is to deter yoru house being target... hope they deem your neighbour's place an easier target and leave you alone

Originally they are suppose to plan some low cost housing at the top of TA area, after the HTC, but recently the SA mentioned its cancelled, and they will acquire another piece of land for the low cost housing, not in the TA's masterplan any longer.
