How to call using VOLTE?
*
There is no specific way of making calls through VoLTE, just make calls like you always do. If the requirements are met, you will be making calls over VolLTE.

Digi is now also heavily advertising that their network is 4G PLUS (aka LTE-A), this webpage used to only mention 4G, now everything is replaced with 4G PLUS.

QUOTE(domo_kun @ Oct 26 2016, 07:46 AM)
I'm not sure what's the difference between LTE-A device and the usual LTE device, probably just the download/upload speed? I can be wrong, non IT literate, anyway. But it was out of stock yesterday so I opted for the 5577S LTE device, instead. My thought is that even with the LTE-A device, would there be a service available locally in Malaysia that allow anyone to fully utilize the capability of the device?
*
LTE-A is a more advanced version of the current LTE. It allows two cell tower to work together to help increase your download speed and ease congestion on a single tower. Opting for a LTE device is fine if you are already getting great speeds. Currently all 3 major telco are offering LTE-A but only Digi is making a huge push for it. So far, Digi has the widest LTE-A network.

Could it be that VOLTE not available in all area yet?
Already upgrade to 10.1, on iPhone 5s. Need to call them to activate VOLTE?

From what shared previously, 5S is not in the list, maybe in future will implement to all LTE device.
*
Not all LTE devices are compatible with VoLTE, for example, iPhone 5s does not support it.

EDIT: I just checked, the iPhone 5s has ter hardware required for VoLTE, but for some reason Apple has decided not to enable it for the 5s.

It is now official, Digi is now officially starting VoLTE to all iPhones starting from the 6 and newer. Support for other phones are coming. No date given.

Here is a link to Digi's page.

What is the purpose of VoLTE when calling is free on the line itself? Wont VoLTE consume my data?
*
It's main purpose is to improve audio quality dramatically and allow more more advanced features like better noise cancellation.

Right now iPhone 6 and above have VoLTE support. The 5s has the hardware required to do it but Apple has decided not to enable it. Digi is unable to enable VoLTE for other devices right now because VoLTE unlike LTE, requires carrier and manufacture certification and testing for it to work. The reason iPhone was chosen is probably because iPhone does not have so many variations and has a unified system for pushing these updates required to enable it. Plus, it is probably one of the more popular devices too. Android, as much as I don't like to say it, is very fragmented. Digi is probably gonna target the most popular android phones for now which are probably Samsung's S-series and Note series.

QUOTE(tympg @ Oct 27 2016, 08:02 PM)
With the old circuit switched voice calls over 2G and 3G, a dedicated bandwidth is reserved for the call until it is ended.  With packet switched voice calls like VoLTE, there is no dedicated bandwidth reserved for the call.  So packet switched calls are the future because they use the bandwidth spectrum more efficiently.

You do raise a point about VoLTE calls eating into your data quota.  My opinion is that they should not but I'm not sure what Digi's official word on this is.
*
The official word from Digi is that VoLTE does not count against your monthly internet quota.

OH YES PLEASE! Any chance that you can give an estimated timeline? Btw, can I ask why does Digi not display 4G+ when connected to LTE-A when Maxis and Celcom does. I talking about the S7 Edge.

Me and my dad using S7E, I am on DiGi and he's on Maxis, my area digi says it supports LTE-A but I dont see 4G+ indicator on my phone whilst its there on the Maxis one.. any idea on how to force enable 4g+?
*
Dgi for some reason does not show the 4G+ symbol. Enter *#0011# in your dailer and select Stack 1. Screenshot and show us if you are connected to LTE-A.

Is it LTE-A? Saw few speedtests from Celcom users getting around 100mbps..
*
Yes this is LTE-A, notice how you are connected to two base stations? One is band 3, the other one is band 7.
