that is the thing. when i applied that time saw it in the webpage stated min RM100k. after weeks or months usage (can't really recall), then it became RM70k...

i did not spend more than RM50k per annual but able to get 2nd year waived. it was MBB mistake and the staff apologized and i made my stand clear and firm.
spoke with MBB staff via phone and i was reminded before they charge the AF for my 3rd year, i must cancel it. anyhow, I still have Ikhwan and CIMB rebate.

after this MBB VS cancel, i will go for CIMB Visa Infinite as got 0.5% local & 1% overseas cashback.

Given that Amex is back with the 5% cash back now. Even without the VS card, it is not really a big deal anymore. VS is once popular becos of the free lounge access but it has no more. And it was popular because Amex 5% was gone previously too.

Just received SMS on the approval. About 3 hours time to get approved after the online application via Maybank2u. Nice 👍.

Hi,

Did you all need to submit any documents while applying through M2U? I haven't done so before so want to check with you guys first.
*
need. IC (both side) + 1 month of latest salary slip (or other document like epf, income tax etc also acceptable).

this will be the last step to do when you apply online.

Maybank Visa Signature, groceries and petrol 5% rebate everyday. There is AF though (waived upon certain condition) however I don't think I can meet it. Will cancel after 1 year usage

Btw, I logged into M2U found that FCB VS approved but my maybank2card Amex is missing only left with maybank2card master  confused.gif  doh.gif

I guess I need to call Maybank call centre

yes, amex 2 card and this new VS card are all good since there is no annual fee at all.

For overseas transaction, is it better to take the fixed percentage charge at MYR (fixed) amount or depending on the bank charges and exchange rate better?

For example, if a Paypal transaction at USD with 3.5% fixed charge, will follow bank charges and exchange rate cheaper in this case?

Yes, if you have RM800 or RM1500 to spend consistently on this general purpose card, which I cannot.. Most of my spending are already on other cards that give 5% or 6% CB.. My general purpose cards is only used consistently for insurance (< RM 500) and mobile auto billing (< RM 80).. Other expenses on this card are only occasional like clothing, pharmacy, car service,travel..

Based on my own analysis of my spending over past 2 years, I'd get better CB from FCB compared to SC Gold, also due to the fact that there's a 10% CB on certain months..

That said, I'm still keeping the SC card, until they stop waiving the annual fees..

keeping more than one cashback credit card is still good. after all most bank cash rebate is capped at rm50. when you happened to have sudden huge purchase, it helped.

i swiped a total of rm22450 recently. amount was split among different cards.

1) rm1500 on my Standard Chartered Cashback Gold MasterCard for rm50.

2) rm2500 on my Maybank FCB Visa Signature card for rm50.

3) the rest of amount (RM18450) on my OCBC 365 MasterCard
1.0% rebate on first monthly spend of RM1,000 - RM10
0.5% rebate on subsequent spend above RM1,000 - RM87.25

total rebate: rm197.25

so no harm to keep more than one card as long as annual fee can be waived.
i have no problem in waiving my annual fee for my SCB cashback platinum mastercard ever since i got it.

the only banks i have issues getting waiver are:
1) OCBC - 365 mastercard initially cannot waive the annual fee (i guess it is due to my spending did not meet the min requirement as ever since maybank resume the 5% weekend on their amex 2 card, i have hardly use this card), then end up the CSO allowed me to swipe rm50 x 3 transactions within two months time to get it waived.

to prevent for similar situation, i applied one more titanium mastercard (no annual fee) as a backup, in case my 365 mastercard annual fee cannot get waived. I want to keep the credit limit given by OCBC as it is quite high as compared to any other bank cards i hold.

2) UOB - used to own the ONE card previously many years back. but kena charged annual fee and cannot be waived, they said there were new transactions after the annual fee transactions so even cancel cannot waive. end up i need to pay for the annual fee and i used it for a year before the new annual fee charged. vmad.gif
the most fxxsy bank when it comes to annual fee waiver.

Wonder if Balance transfer earn CB for Barcelona card?

It only mention "No Cash back for EzyPay transactions" in the product disclosure sheet.
*
2% Cash back for all purchases all year long (except May and August) and capped at maximum of RM 50 per month.
10% Cash back for all purchases made in the month of May (football season ends) and August (football season begins) and capped at maximum of RM 100 during the specified month.

it stated all purchases only which I am sure BT is certainly not considered as purchases at all.

For the RM18,450 that you swiped on OCBC 365, it would be better off if u use Amex instead (if Amex can be used) as Amex gives u 1.25% in terms of tp, which is RM230.63 equivalent. If cant use Amex, Hong Leong Essential is better off  with 0.6% for first RM5k and 1% for the remaining, which mean you would have gotten RM164.50 instead.

I keep the HLE and just wipe 8x to get the AF waived for big purchase. Amex would be better off in terms of big purchase (but in the form of tp, not cash).
*
amex cannot be used so nothing loss here.

HLB Wise card does not have a category that the amount can fit into. so this is the best i can earn the rebate based on the cards i have. tongue.gif

the good part is i can do a 0% interest BT on my maybank credit card without fee and pay this amount for 12 months. haha.

as per your quote earlier lor

2% cb (max RM50) every month, except May & Aug which is 10% cb (max RM100)

we havent crossed to May yet because the card was launched in Oct 2017.
*
it is shocked for May and Aug. 10% cab is attractive. Must maximize it that month. tongue.gif
