Because Intel spent millions on thermal research n found that with the CPU in the middle, graphics cards at the top, the thermals r a lot better. But the actual BTX format never took off. What the case companies did was to just turn an ATX case upside down to simulate BTX. That's y cases like my LL V1200 is also upside down BTX style.

So, I've decided to BTX my TJ07 too, coz my rig is like a volcano with the AMD X2 at 2.7ghz, 2x1gb RAM at 2.9V n the 8800GTX. The air temps inside the case really like a sauna.

HArdware updatessssssssssssssssss......................

Went to LYP for sum shopping today. I just cudn resist the need to fill up my motherboard anymore. When I bought that SLi mobo, it was intended for 2X 7900GT. I bought the 7950GX2 instead coz that just came out n was better than 2x 7900GT. So teh mobo was used in single slot mode. I was waiting for the 7950GX2 Quad SLi drivers to mature n then set up Quad SLi. Nvidia never kept their promise to come out with good solid Quad drivers. Again the mobo was left running with just 1 slot.

Finally! I now haf 2x 8800GTX to fill all the PCIe slots n use up all of the available 32 PCIe lanes. Here's the new hardware I bought for King Kong II today.




MSI 8800GTX, Coolermaster GeminII HSF, 2x 120mm UV Vizo fans for the GeminII, n the spare 300W PSU just in case my 2nd 8800GTX needs more power.

N here's the gigantic CoolerMaster GeminII. Such a loooooooovely sexay heatpipe babe! I just love heatpipes n cudn resist this beauty while I was buying the new MSI 8800GTX. I will get down to testing this baby once i get the case done n all hardware installed. Hoping for really good mobo n CPU temps with it. just look at those sexaaaaaaay heatpipes babyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy. Lovely, absolutely loooooooooooooooooooooooovely.

More like KK chilling with his new specs I also like the Gemini. I heard from one forumer that it's pretty cheap for a heatsink that big of size.

I hope you wont have to use that extra PSU. You're the first guy I actually know that has actually gone SLI for 8800GTXs

Yeah, I'm hoping my Enermax 600 can handle everything nicely too. I'd hate the idea of doing even more wire management for the extra PSU. I'm sure the Enermax is plenty good as it is a server grade PSU according to the reviews I read when I bought it. I've read about many 8800GTX SLi rigs running on 500-600W PSUs too. We'll just hafta c how it goes when I plug it in. No biggie coz I haf a 2nd PSU on standby anyway.
