Hi guys, icon_rolleyes.gif

Rejoining back HK thread after V3 closed. Never join V4 cos never thought will go again there.

My family will visit HK again on mid March (during school holiday). Tickets and hotel all paid. Anyway this will be my 3rd trip to HK and 2nd trip for my family.

As usual, for any trip to overseas, I never prepare any itinerary except for something important, like Disneyland, which I still thinking want to buy 1 day or 2 days ticket.

During last trip on 2012, my family missed the fireworks show at Disneyland because we need to go back earlier to hotel (my wife waiting alone at hotel, she not feeling well that day)

Too bad, my family will missed the firework again on next trip because what I read at Disneyland webpage, 'Hong Kong Disneyland will kick off the castle’s transformation following the finale of the “Disney in the Stars” Fireworks on January 1, 2018.' doh.gif

What's the cheapest flight option from KL to HK? Air asia?
*
Last month
AA - cheaper
MAS - in between both
Malindo - the highest

that for March flight.

Hmm 730 per pax still need about 2.1k for 3 persons hmm.gif RM1.8k was inclusive of everything for AA. Not sure if that's the cheapest I'll ever get hmm.gif
*
My trip is on next March, AA is RM3811 return ticket for 6 persons which is included 12 tickets, 12 meals, 12 advanced seat fees and 120kg baggage (50/70 split).

I never take AA Insurance because doesn't cover everything, just for flight. Normally I take AXA Smart Traveler VIP package, cost only Rm234 for 6 persons. This one cover start from 12:00am on the of departure day until 11:59pm on the day of arrival.

Oh, I dont actually know what AA insurance covers but I took it for the peace of mind. AXA Smart Traveler VIP package insurance is better?

Eh, your AA ticket is quite good pricing but not sure if it's better cause more people hmm.gif
*
I prefer more coverage.
You can refer here for more details.
One more thing, I know where is AXA Hong Kong, my family take a pic next to the AXA building during last visit. biggrin.gif

For the ticket, I compare between 3 airlines for the same date.
AA - 3.8K
Mas - 4.5K
Malindo - 6.5K

Eh, the AXA insurance have to buy separately as in there's no option to opt it in when buying the plane ticket in AA?
*
AA only offer TuneProtect (their own company).
Off-course need to buy separately but everything is online now. AXA will email your policy after payments.
If not mistaken, online purchase can get 25% discounts as last year.

EDIT: still 25% discounts as today.

Lucky I only know English.. Manglish. biggrin.gif

or I just speak Malay. LOL.

Actually, when I was looking around TST during my last visit 2012, I speak Malay with my family. Then suddenly a few sale persons come to offer their stuff and speak Malay too. I not surprised at all because this is not first time for me. Even during my visit to HK around 1997 or 1998, I also meet someone can speak Malay (he is the Ambassador from Middle East).

My exp:
Tokyo, meet Japanese can speak Malay at Akhibahara. He offer some camera from his shop
Paris, meet Indian (from India) can speak Malay, he even ask me for kretek. His uncle selling souvenir under the Eiffel Tower.
Korea, my Korean tour-guide ladies can speak Malay, souvenir shop seller also can speak Malay.
London, Immigration officer at train station to Paris can speak Malay.
Dubai, seller at silk store can speak Malay.

My next trip to HK is next week. Fly on 20th March morning. Will be there for 7 days with my family. No itinerary, no plan, just leisure and shopping. Free and easy. The only plan I have is to go to Disneyland because in 2012, my wife stay at hotel only when I and my kids going to Disneyland that time. She pregnant that time. So this time she and the baby she carry in the womb on 2012 can go together to Disneyland. thumbup.gif

Been to HK Disneyland recently and it sucks! DOnt really feel like disneyland and you seldom see disney characters walk around. They will only appear in certain place for photograph and thats all. Furthermore they are renovating the castle now and no more fireworks.
*
I read about the castle and no more fireworks but this might be the last time I will bring my family to HK so this is the only chance to go to Disneyland HK. I still have the video inside the castle.

If my kids still want to go to HK or Disneyland after this, I will ask them to go with their own family when they get married.

May, Summer started so just wear normal t-shirt like Malaysia. Even this month not so cold enough, no need to wear jacket during the day. I wear jacket after 10pm until morning. I just back yesterday.

Hi all, I'm in Hong Kong. Just curious is it better to exchange myr in Hong Kong or Malaysia?
*
If I say better exchange while in Malaysia so you will fly back to Malaysia, exchange the money and fly back to HK again?

The place I stay last March in TST (200 meters to AOS/Sogo) have about 6 money changers, all rate there more expensive than exchange in Malaysia.

We have similar thoughts. HK is also not exactly a place I'll return anytime soon. Not just the weather and price, half of the people I've met are not friendly - rude, smokers everywhere, and lack of 'space'. You can't exactly have a decent breakfast without sharing table, queuing or feeling rushed to finish them.

That's the cons I feel, but there's also some pros here and there. I was lucky to have met several nice people and had fun talking to them. And of course, bumping into celebrities or filming is always an A+++ experience laugh.gif
*
Me too... 3 times should be enough for me. biggrin.gif

That's why my last visit on March, I stay for 1 week.

Gathering more place to go and trying to plan out  tongue.gif ...

just my guess, for family of 4 taxi will be the best option?

Use MTR better, cheaper. Some place I just walk. I went there 6 persons (with 6 years old kid).

Buy Octopus card, unused value and deposit refund at airport before fly back.
