Anyone have any shooting experiences in Mt Fuji or around Mt Fuji? I'll be staying in Fujikawaguchiko area. Would love to hunt for sunset/sunrise around these mountain areas. Anyone know any nice spots?

I know you'll give good tips; I'm looking at Syojiko Lake, Yamanakako Lake and of course, Kachi Kachi Ropeway. The places that you mentioned, is it super crowded with tourists? End of November, roughly what's the temperature gonna be like there?

By the way, you had a very good shot on both sunset and sunrise. So clear of the mount! What lens you using, anyway?
*
Placed I mention Kukuna was Hotel. One of my secret spot for capture picture. Basically no people. Used this Kukna hotel as your guide on google map only. This Kukuna Hotel front door was this Picture View.
One of the perfect angle to shoot Mt Fuji.

Camera was Canon Digital IXUS 980 IS
Aperture F/3.2
ISO 200
Expose time 1/40

November temperature around 7 - 15 Celsius

Good tip; let me Google on this. Hopeful for a clear sky. End of November is the start of winter, yeah? I think I better be packing a few more jackets. I wonder how HK would be also around that time.
Wah, coordinates some more! By the lake, wow. Good, good. I'll keep an eye on this one, too. I think it's possible to rent a bike and cycle around the lake. But my intent is for sunrise and sunset. Gosh... such early morning, it's gonna be freezing!

Winter start at Dec to Feb

Best way to capture Mt Fuji at Yamanaka Lake was do Swam Cruise.

LOL, my host said daytime will be okay, but morning and night will be freezing... OMG. If a local Jap could have said that, I think it'll be almost fatal to us, haha.
Japanese are very vulnerably to Cold. Cannot take their word as guide. Tak bolek Pakai punya
Even on normal local train also got one coach are specially tune down air conditioning.
For them everything lower than 20 Celsius are consider cold.
15 Celsius I still wearing T-Shirt come to work and for them already wearing jacket already....wtf

how do I identify reserve seat for haruka train?
*
You have to buy Reserve Seat ticket at Counter

You will have 2 Ticket. One is Train Ticket cost 1,830 Yen from Kansai Airport to Kyoto Station
Another one Ticket was Reserve Seat Ticket which cost 1150 Yen

user posted image

Today 2016, Price already adjusted to 1880 Yen (Train) + 1490 Yen (Reserve Seat)

What happen if I just buy the Train Ticket without the Reserve ticket ?
Will I be able to get a seat after boarding the train or I will have to stand all
the way to my destination?
*
Limited Express // Shinkansen You must have 2 Ticket
One is Train Ticket. One is Reserve Seat Ticket or Unreserve Seat Ticket

Normal Local Train like our KTM Commuter & Subway & Tram
Only one Train Ticket

Example:
JR Haruka Limited Express from Kansai Airport to Kyoto fare are 1880 Yen + 1450 for Reserve Seat or 1150 for Unreserved Seat

On your Question:
You have to Pay 1880 Yen Train Fare + 1150 for Unreserved Seat Fare
Inside Unreserved Seat coach, all seat are 1st come 1st serve. Even you got seat, during half way you get up form seat going toilet, someone will take over your seat.

Sifu I am really confused with the reserve and unreserved seat issue.

My apology to you for being unable to comprehend your explanation. I would really appreciate it if Sifu can enlighten me by pointing out anything that I may have missed in the following scenario.

I will be  travelling to Osaka next week.

From Kansai Airport if I will to take the Haruka Ltd. Express to Shin Osaka

1.  Under normal circumstances I have to Pay 1360 Yen + 1490 yen Total 2850 Yen.

2.  Alternatively if  I  buy the ICOCA discount ticket one way which will cost me 1300 yen. Does the price 1300 yen
inclusive of the reserved seat charges? or otherwise I have to pay 1300 yen + 1490 yen for the reserved seat.

Thank you. You have been very helpful all along.
*
If you buy Icoca + Haruka Combo. your Haruka Train fare will be 1300 Yen but Reserve Seat still cost you 1490 Yen
In Japan Train is Train...seat is seat, they are separated charges.

If I have a unreserved seat ticket and I get into a reserved seat car, so can I make the payment for the reserved seat in the car itself. Or will I be penalized?
*
No, You cannot make payment inside train to upgrade from Unreserve to reserve.
If you get caught by doing this (using Unreserve ticket but sit inside reserve coach, you will end up in police station)

So serious meh? Not all trains right? Some trains like shinkansen or some other train you can pay on the spot. Cant remember the line, but I took express train from Hitachi to Tokyo. I was in a rush I just bought the train ticket. Then I pay for the reserve seat ticket to the conductor.
*
All express train required 2 ticket ma. Even you choose reserve seat or unreserved seat you still need to pay. Because you in rush , you only got train ticket. So inside train, you got 2 option to choose either want reserve or unreserved seat.

Most of people buy during ticket machine or counter, once buy already it cannot be upgrade anymore.

But using unreserved ticket sit on reserve seat is cheating case, If the fussy passenger on that particular reserve seat want report you then really will end up in police station.

yeah I read about it but would that be the worst time to go since there will be so many Japanese and tourist on vacation there? Regards
*
Yes. Worst Time because Hotel will increase price. All attraction places will full of people. Super long Q. If you plan visit Disneyland or Universal Studio at Golden Week...Estimate to Q minimum 2 hour just at the entrance gate only.
and all popular rides need Q minimum 2 hour.
If you plan just visit Tokyo / Osaka / Kyoto only without going out from City....still ok.
If you plan out of City then will be nightmare. Train & air ticket ticket will be fully sold. Bus will be stuck at Highway more than 2 - 10 hour.

Our previous TS RegentCid would say yes, it's probably the worst time to visit Japan during Golden Week.
