Hi Guys ,

I just came back yesterday from our trip to Hokkaiddo - specifically Sapporo > Asahikawa > Rusutsu > Sapporo.
Throughly enjoyed the trip.
My first look at this thread so would like to share my experience on the above ...

Our group bought quite a few bottles of Sake (Yamakuchi) and other liquors - tax-free in Sapporo . Some decided to check in carefully with their luggage but I decided to hand carry them across Japan custom point.  Dont' !!! You will not be allowed past security check - sealed bags or not !! I have to turn back and check those bottles in with a 'where to find right now box "  ! Quite unnerving when you are very near boarding time. But plus point to security officer to lead us back to AA check-in counter and allow us to 'jump queue' otherwise ...

No comments on the allowed quantity or tax  ..  biggrin.gif  biggrin.gif . For us all  thumbup.gif  thumbup.gif  after that hiccup.

Kc

After security checked. Inside International Departure Hall duty free shop should be no problem.

Same journey for  me  on comfy bus 80mins duration 5:29am 1030 yen. I guess your fare can be shared among 4 passengers, only question is 'will 4 luggage  fit?
*
I not sure how big was your 4 luggage. but I can tell you about Japan taxi 90% are Toyota Crown.
I try the trunk capacity. Maximum can fit in 24'' luggage x 3 due to most taxi have NGV gas cylinder at back of trunk.

If you can found diesel type Toyota crown then can fit 4 x 24'' luggage. no problem at all.

Hello Guys,

I will be going to Japan on 25th of Feb (Arrived 10.30pm) until the 3rd of August. Can I know if it is possible for me to cover the main attractions in Tokyo and Kyoto within the timeframe that I have in Japan?

Thank you!
*
Depend how much homework you do.
More u dig , more info , more you cover.

If I be your guide, using my knowledge to bring you Jalan Jalan.....5 month only can cover 60% Tokyo + Tokyo nearby attraction only.

No one can predict if it will impact tokyo. They cannot even predict if it rains next week, how can you predict snow fall next month? All I know is that winter comes early this year.
*
Wait China (Urumqi & Harbin) & Mongolia start snow fall first. Next will be Seoul.
If this 3 places already snowing, next will be Japan.

I stay at Japan so many years....I always take this 3 city as my snow fall forecast. biggrin.gif

Came back from Tokyo on Nov 1st. It was a great experience. Especially when we joined the Halloween Street Party in Shibuya for 2 nights and attending Sengoku Otome PS Vita game official launching event.
Now, we have another plan, to Sapporo during winter.

From the route we gonna take, JR Pass is the best option but we still have thousands in our SUICA card. Can we use the card for vending machine or local train/bus or something like that in Hokkaido? In Tokyo it was like widely use. I know KITACA/SAPICA for Hokkaido.
*
Already unite as one
Suica and pasmo can used at Hokkaido

If you are just travelling around Hokkaido, I am not sure if JR Pass is the best option, unless you are travelling from Tokyo to Sapporo.
*
If Traveling only at Hokkaido then using JR Hokkaido Rail Pass
JR Rail Pass are for traveling from State to state.

How about this...
worth to buy?

since we'll going to tokyo thru haneda...

tokyometro
*
Tokyo Metro don't have any line to Haneda Airport.
BTW, if traveling only in Tokyo City, Just used Pasmo / Suica enough already.
This 2 card similar to our ''Touch N Go''

At first I thought I wouldnt need the pass. But from Toya to Asahikawa gonnna cost me more than 10k yen one way, so we decided to get the pass.  But what I am afraid of is, train cancelled due to heavy snow. I dont know if that will happen. Maybe sifu RegentCid can give an advice on that.
*
Japan Hokkaido train are build to penetrate snow. 85% Snowstorm won't stop the train service. Only Typhoon will stop the service. Hokkaido train run the slowest speed compare to other state due to Heavy and snow penetrate ability.
Fastest train in Hokkaido just run 120km/h top speed and most of time it just run 90km/h

Hi all,
I'm going to Tokyo in Dec and manage to find these 2 places that have crab legs buffet -
a) Shinjuku Prince Hotel - Prince Viking (abt Jpy2800)
b) Tokyo Station Buffet Chisozammai, Daimaru Tokyo (abt Jpy2200)

Any comment on which is better or any other places with similar price. Appreciate your comments. Thanks.
*
With this price, you only can get hairy crab. which is similar to Shanghai ''大闸蟹''
Hairy Carb are lowest class crab in Japan Crab list

First time. Just stay at Tokyo + Hakone + Lake kawaguchiko + Kamakura + Enoshima
If you hardworking enough then add Mount Takao + Chichibu + Chosi
