You mean you want to hire a agent in Japan to bring you around instead of following tour? If yes depends on your tour guide. There are some volunteer guides here but very limited service. Maybe you can hire me and I bring you around. smile.gif

Quick question....I'm getting the All Nikko Pass (4days). Does this pass includes ride on buses from Nikko Station to Lake Chuzenji? And how should I put the sequence...go to Kegon falls first or Lake Chuzenji? This two places is near to each other and walkable right?

you asking me ah? smile.gif

Hi guys, going Japan today, visit Tokyo and Sapporo  rclxm9.gif
Already got inner sweater, light down vest, and outer jacket ( for snow and below degree condition ).
I heard/read that I will need another jacket ( for Tokyo ~ 10 degree ), got few jacket option so want to ask sifu here which is best:
Sweater jacket ( not wind proof )

Regular jacket ( thick double layer polyester )
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Rain jacket ( super light weight packable type )
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

I wear the rain jacket at Taiwan when typhoon boarding and I sweat like at hell  sweat.gif  so I was wondering if I could just bring that one and ditch the thick sweater/jacket and save some space/weight.
*
Dont understand your question....since you already have outer jacket, can you still fit any of this jacket? What is the purpose? For the wind? Also if you go into any shop, it will be damn hot and you will need to "strip down". If you wear so many layers....good luck!. Now in Tokyo, I wear my normal working clothes and then a thick jacket, and a scarf. Its really cold and chilly and when wind blows, the scarf really helps.

Okay, GG edi. I honestly didn't expect Tokyo would snow. Meaning I need to spend extra money for clothing. cry.gif

Btw, would like to ask those who are frequent travelers; how you guys actually capture couple photos without the use of selfie stick? hmm.gif I am planning to bring a tripod over cause my gf been stressing she wants to take NICE NICE PHOTOS.  rclxub.gif I want faint edi cause the tripod I bought for this trip, is half of the height of normal tripod. sweat.gif Should I just get a heavy duty monopod instead? hmm.gif
*
Tokyo seldom snow. If it snow its once in a blue moon. Recently nearly everywhere in Japan like Hiroshima was covered with snow but not Tokyo. If it snow, its not only clothing. You also have to think of waterproof shoes as well. So suggestion is dont prepare for the snow. If you are so (un)lucky that it really snows, then just buy it in Tokyo.

Its freezing cold though, especially when I wake up to go to work and also returning home at night. My home is near the sea and the wind is really chilling.

Alright, thanks for the link. I am also thinking if I should bring my camera along. I'm only using canon 500d, got prime, zoom and wide angle lens. Not sure which lens to bring.. hmm.gif I found some tripods in lelong, mudah website for like RM30. Those should do it right?
Hmm, then really need to prepare for the worst. I've bought scarf cause it looks nice, then I realized I actually need it for Tokyo trip. laugh.gif Water proof shoe.. don't think I have any.. need to spend money again.. sweat.gif Now need to hunt for gloves. Saw Muji selling those smartphone friendly gloves. Anyone know what are the choices besides Muji?
DisneySea ya? My gf went Disneyland in HK, so she wanted to go DisneySea this time. I'm abit skeptical about rollercoasters, is still bearable right? Too fast I scare I pee in pants. laugh.gif

Just wondering, where you guys got your tickets? I'm planning on buying it from klook. Wanna see if there's any other ways to get it cheaper..
*
Dont think you need to waste money buying water proof shoes unless you will use it again. Besides waterproof, you also have to make sure its a bit spiky so that you wont fall down when they snow begin to melt and pavements becomes slippery. But its up to you.

As far as I know Disney tickets are all standard price where ever you buy. Only place I know of that you can buy it cheaper are those ticket shops in Japan. These shops will buy tickets from people who are unable to make it and then resell it at a cheaper rate. It really depends if there are sellers.

Tastiest? Ask your hotel concierge or a japanese friend or sacwoc to help you make reservation at Sushi Saito. Best sushi on earth liao.
*
Now those expensive sushi are quite hesitant to take reservation from foreigners as alot of people cancelled and did not inform them. Normally when I booked I give a fake name.... smile.gif. If I give my actual name they might reject.

I'm fairly surprised Disney don't take card.
*
As far as I know they accept credit card. Here is what they say in their FAQ:

JCB and other major credit cards, as well as major debit cards and major branded prepaid cards, are accepted at Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea.
- Some credit cards issued outside of Japan by MasterCard may not be accepted.
- Some debit cards issued by J-Debit or China UnionPay may not be accepted.

Credit and debit cards cannot be used in the following cases.
- At balloon vendors and food carts
- When purchasing stamps, gift cards, meal vouchers, IC telephone cards, etc.

Thanks bro
Owh ic then i will reschedule my trip to visit on weekdays , maybe i will visit mount fuji on weekends ,stay for 1 night there..
,for shinkansen ticket do i need to buy now? after sightseeing at nagoya plan to take shinkansen to Tokyo
*
Shinkansen ticket can just buy in Tokyo. You will be flying back to KL from Tokyo? Also looking at your schedule of just 7 days, why not just stay in just Nagoya or Tokyo? With a 7 month old baby, it will really be a hassle.

my ticket from KL to Nagoya and Tokyo to KL .

KL to Nagoya flight ticket cheaper compare KL to Tokyo, plan to visit both city , and the main reason is to visit Tokyo Disney Land  biggrin.gif  ,

1) sightseeing Nagoya
2) Mount Fuji
3) Tokyo Disneyland

i think 7 days would be sufficient right?
*
Flight is cheaper but the shinkansen will cost you a bomb!
Sufficient really depends on you and what you want to see.
And dont forget you are travelling with a baby and to go to so many places will be a hassle.

Fukushima

According to link above, indeed, radiation reading at highest level!!!!!!!!!!!!!Still safe to visit??
*
If it worries you so much then you should not visit. No point having a vacation and then having to worry all about radiation. There is so much of this news out there and you dont know who to believe. Most of my friends who have been here for a number of years, just continue their lives as usual even though we do talk about it in our weekly meetup.

You just look at the prime minister, if the prime minister still stays in Japan, then Japan is safe to stay. Simple theory.
*
That is a good theory! Also the emperor is staying in Tokyo as well.....

Cannot say like that lah...there is possible increased risk not certain risk - you don't expect the emperor or the PM to run road because of that right? Similarly for at least 90% of the people in Japan, they aren't going anywhere because of work, family , affordability etc etc. I posted the link to create awareness so that people can make their own decisions. Ultimately, it is their own lives. The risk might be real, might be exaggerated - who knows?
*
Well you could also say they might not eat the same thing like we do. But I am sure the breath the same air! So its really the same as what you are doing - putting in our theory to create awareness as well. Even though ours have no scientific data to back it up, its just logical thinking.

Was planning to fly again to Tokyo by end of November. Do you guys think there will be snow during this time? I haven't bought the ticket yet, but I need to prepare if there is possibilities lol
*
If I know I will be rich! The snow that happen last year Nov in Tokyo was like first time after more than 50 years. Also seldom there is big snow in Tokyo. Its better you prepare the possibility of earthquake rather than snow....

When I went last year, me and my group were hoping there is an earthquake lol. So thick clothes should be fine right? No need winter clothes.
*
Nov you might not really need thick clothes. It should be around 10C and not as cold as Jan or Feb. Sometimes it can be even in 20C as well.
