Looking at my itinerary, Kyoto will require me to take lot of buses. Do think it's good to rent a bicycle? Foldable bike is allow in train isn't it?
*
bus is cheaper n faster, some places r quite far apart. they hv daily bus pass.

RM886 with Vietnam Airlines. Where got 3/4?
RM886 for flight, RM400 for accommodations, have around 30k yen to spend. One day approx 7500yen to use, quite decent living.

The purpose of this budget trip is to experience the local life, not spend like nobody's business.. laugh.gif of course I wouldn't enjoy as much as those who spend more, but they don't get to experience what I gone through too..
*
how is vietnam airline? i saw it super cheap tht day when im booking air ticket, i went for ANA tho. and i booked hostel 10 days for RM1200, three different hostel, would b cheaper if i booked all same but i hv my reason.

I think too used to using pocket wifi - and usually shared with friends (so its not that pricey). That's why hardly consider the SIM card hahahaha
Twice a year! But June is beginning of summer, it'll be starting to get hot. I think May would be one of the ideal time - off peak and still cooling. I can't stand the crowd, so I'll skip sakura.
*
haha, i live there a year before. but this year im going for business purposes, starting up a business there so have to go for documents stuff and so on.

Agreed, planning only looks nice on paper.

First time when I was in Japan, I planned 3 days for Kyoto but I ended up loving it so much that 3 days was not enough.

Second time I returned, I went without booking my accommodation so that i can extend my stay if I wanted to stay longer. Only thing was fixed was my flight tickets and JR Pass.  biggrin.gif  Ps. I ended up spending 5 days in Kyoto itself.
*
wow u sure love kyoto, there's nothing to do after 8pm. quite boring for me

Since I usually start my day early, by the night I am tired.
Usually just hang out with other backpackers (hostel/guesthouse) and chit chat with other tourists on their day/discoveries.  biggrin.gif

ps. I am a solo traveller.
*
same as me, i actually went kyoto by mistake last time...got drunk n suddenly went n buy bus ticket to kyoto. no choice so pack one small backpack n go d lol. then book a hostel while im on the bus. very fun n nice experience.

for tokyo u dun really need winter wear unless u really scared cold, normal hoodie enough. tokyo lowest temperature i experienced is around 10c only and one day snow which is in december

if u wanna experience real otaku stuff also hit me up, not those normal otaku stuff u find in akiba (example, live singing performance by cosplayers in those live house, weekly weekends cosplay event)

im arriving in tokyo on the 21st and coming bak malaysia on the 1st of july.

Yay! Then share how fun it was!

But oh, get your tickets on Ghibli site. Now they sell them online as well. Don't wait till you're in Japan to buy from Lawson, sure habis!!!
That's pretty interesting, shall explore when I have an upcoming trip!

Hi lucaswjk,

Do we really need international driving permit as converted at JPJ @ RM150 to drive in Japan?  Can we use the latest driving license there?
*
yes, u need international driving license no matter which country u go. and no latest driving license is worthless if its not international driving license. and japan takes their rules and law very seriously.
