if still under warranty, call 100 and complain about the problem. i do get Archer C5 by complain about the Dir-850L wifi coverage issue.

Hello. I'm on VIP5, got upgraded to 10Mbps few months ago.

My area is Seri Kembangan. For the past 2 weeks until today I've been having problems with the Internet, especially at night/midnight. Most of the time I can't even open any website, it'll just keep loading and loading. And whenever I think it's stable, opening ONE website will cause the ping to shoot up to a whopping 1000!

Of course, I've done the basic stuff like restarting router and all. Called up TM twice. On 11/10, operator told me there was a maintenance going on around my area and it's affecting tons of customers. Told me it would be okay the NEXT DAY AFTERNOON.

Same thing for the next 2 days. 13/10, called them up again and this operator told me there was NO maintenance, at least none that's affecting me. She helped me to only switch the port and problem still remained. Told me to wait till next day. 

I don't even know what I should ask... Like, is there any real maintenance going on or what should I do?

Oh yeah I never mentioned this. I tried both wired (PC) and wireless (laptop), and both came up the same. Things would seem OK until you try to open a website. Even though when things seem to be stable and smooth, I can see the ping is still very high. And I'm testing all these while no one else is using the net, only me.

Well about the heat thing... I do turn the router off to let it rest everyday, so I guess it does have a decent cooldown. Though I don't think it could be a cause of it? Because my family rarely turned it off and it didn't affect anything. And this problem has started since about 2 weeks ago. :/

My wiring contractor offered to give me a foc Archer  C2. Is it any good?

I got both, given by TM. C5 wifi coverage and signal strength is better.

Yeah, the firmware came from TM is newer than TPlink website, and i dont have the issue that you encounter. When it show connected, wifi and wired connection also cant access to internet? All other devices tested also
same?

Well this is the one that they gave after I complaint 3 times, they already replace my router 2 times and this is the last replacement that they gave and actually support my VIP50 package

Im using unifi Advance 30 for a month. Each time i run oklaa speedtest, my download speed around 28.0-28.5Mbps but never exceed 28.5Mbps (except spike in the beginning of speedtest), flat graph, latency below 10ms, no bufferbloat issue (if run dslreport speedtest got A+) , terrace house, speedtest using several local server even TM Speedtest also same. Untill now, hundred of speedtest never reach full speed even once.. But for upload, I can get full speed for upload.

Is it normal?

Currently im using C5, it is great router at cheap price. Bought from mudah RM200+- new set. Performance better than Dlink-850L. Feature little bit less than C7 but im very satisfied since we r not pro to use all kind of the features. Fast booting, reboot, connected, nice web gui, fast loading pages etc

I am planning to upgrade my router. I am currently using tplink WDR4300.  Anyone here using the Asus RT-ac68u? I heard it have overheating issue and drop connections on the 2.4ghz. I do have other alternative in mind like the TPlink C2600 or c3120. Need recommendation.

Budget not more than rm1000. Use for heavy movie streaming and competitive gaming. Dont need any fancy feature just need one that can handle 10 device simultaneously and strong wifi coverage for large house. Tired of my current router who drop packet randomly when 8 device connected.

is the Asus ac68u still having issue like overheating and drop connections? I read that a lot at other forum.  thats what worry me.

To run speedtest, better use PC connected to router through LAN cable. Close all application that using internet (u can see in windows task manager>network which apps using internet) & perhaps close down temporary AV & FW. Other way, run windows in safe mode with network. In router, close wifi signal to avoid other device connected to router via wifi. Then make a test.

When u run speedtest, make sure in the begining, got spikes (can reach 35-40mbps) then stable at certain speed like full speed @ 30mbps or 28mbps and then consistant flat untill the end. Spikes above ur subscription speed indicate that tm already open ur bandwidth wider than subscribed speed. If got bandwidth capped issue, u cant get spikes at all.

Rgding using 5Ghz band, i have no issue but FYI, 5GHz has a shorter range compared with 2.4GHz, the 2.4GHz frequency is way more crowded than 5GHz, devices on 2.4GHz suffer much more interference than the ones on 5GHz, fewer devices are capable of using the 5GHz channel than the 2.4GHz channel.
