oh well,
traditionally Nintendo hardware always lagged behind the likes of Sony & MShardware powaar is not their forte, as they are building a hybrid portable system this time, anymore more powerful than a PS4/XB1 is a hindrance to the portable system, too power hungry, batt life/ heats/ size will be a big challenge
So if they said the new console is having around the 50% power of a XB1, I would say that's realistic enough
but then, Ninty gonna play catch-up to Sony/MS again like WiiU in the graphic dept.
New players nowadays are more demanding in graphics, lesser on the gameplay, unlike the old fags like us who are more into gameplay than graphics, so Ninty will have a hard time to capture the attentions of newer gen of players.
Not really. Nintendo kinda beat MegaDrive with SNES (better in color, but a bit slower in speed), and N64 was considered the most powerful 3D system at the time vs the original PS and Saturn.
But they have given up the arm race ever since Wii i think.
I think we can forget about Switch being equal in performance to XBone (no need to mention PS4). A portable tablet vs full console. There won't be any magic to defy law of physics.
But as long as it can at least somewhat reproduce 80% of at least XBone, coupled with the fact of being a handheld console, it is poised to take over to become the 3DS successor as well, which is long due for replacement as well. So the console bit is like an added bonus to be push together.
The switch will become the only handheld console available on the market now that SONY has exited the handheld race.
What i am hoping for is...CHEAPER GAMES. 3DS games seems to be way cheaper than Wii U games. If this pricing strategy continues, this i believe will be the biggest push for the switch, coupled with "good enough graphics". And a solid 3rd party support which is much evident (compared to WiiU's launch).
Frankly i have watched several PS3/XBOX360/PS4/XBOne comparison videos....graphics really jump from PS3==>PS4 is not so huge (check those Tomb Raider compairson videos etc..always only 2 things improved...light source HDR and shinnier water reflection). I believe the Switch can produce better graphics than the Xbox360 (even the Wii U can, as proven by Bayonetta ). Thus, the Switch will be able to produce near XboxOne level graphics, minus some fidelity which you won't notice unless you compare and pause frame every video.
