If you wish for peace, prepare for war

QUOTE(waja2000 @ Oct 9 2016, 01:02 PM) i means many county mindef/Navy. for our navy maybe is budget. Millennium 30mm gun more expensive than MSI connon? but MSI 30mm gun advantage is we more experience/familiar using it. (culture) You ask LTZ do the navy want proper ciws on their ship.

QUOTE(MilitaryMadness @ Oct 11 2016, 10:18 AM) I see on discovery channel M1 Abrams crew interview said for each 1 hour they are operating, they spend 3 hours repair and servicing the tank. They even say although outer tank armor is steel, its insides may well be made of glass due to the high rate of something always breaking. Typical experience with tankers? I think the gas turbine engine is one of the reason.

QUOTE(MilitaryMadness @ Oct 11 2016, 11:31 AM) Yeah, probably. They also mention the engine is so finicky and complex, anytime an engine breaks down (which is a lot of times, especially in sandy & dusty middle-eastern conditions) they pretty much have to remove it and have it repaired at the motor pool repair shop. It's nearly impossible to repair it in the field. Even without the middle-eastern environment it pretty troublesome to maintained the turbine engine. Russian learn his lesson well but US failed to do that. US even forget the lesson on ww2.

QUOTE(MilitaryMadness @ Oct 12 2016, 11:33 AM) If only land and take off on a level, straight highway without refueling or resupply I don't see why a competent pilot can't do it. Having the facilities for having a road airstrip is unknown though. It still depend on the road condition. As for refuelling and resupplying it depend on the airforce logistics and maintenance capacity to support such operations.

QUOTE(dangerminimouse @ Oct 13 2016, 11:33 AM) I think you are the one bitching, actually. Ironic, government can't even make safe roads but they want highway airstrips as emergency take off for warplanes. Against whom? Scared Singapore will invade us is it? If it can't even defend its people from baju merah people, what's the point of defending against foreign threats? Its all connected. Military doctrine for people's interest unless Military doctrine being screwed for Dictator style government like in North Korea. Singapore and Sweden, to be fair, are able to provide 1st grade infrastructure to their own citizens. Selangor road terrible. Especially those under state government. Only through n time complaining tukar MB and wait till early 2016 only see them start repairing the road.

QUOTE(MilitaryMadness @ Oct 13 2016, 12:12 PM) Most people have misconception about road system here in Malaysia. Automatically think all must be under federal government purview. Every road damage must be federal government's fault. In truth most roads in Malaysia are under state and municipal government. Federal roads are very few, usually these are the larger 2-lane main roads between states. Yup, if not y would we paying cukai pintu and business license to the state government for.

QUOTE(MilitaryMadness @ Oct 13 2016, 04:31 PM) I'm pretty much alarmed that a country that has a small number of tanks like Malaysia aren't focusing on obtaining more ATGMs. We already did brought decent amount of it Shikan and Ingwe. Not to mention crazy amount rpg7. In 2012 we spend rm250mil on m72 iinm ruag get the contract. Hmm did I miss anything else I do hope we get brimstone for our aircraft.

QUOTE(MilitaryMadness @ Oct 22 2016, 09:52 AM) I'm pretty ok if we buy some good-conditioned 2nd hand military gear, but please don't never ever buy 2nd hand planes. If something broke down, at least a 2nd hand tank wont fall from the sky. We are getting 2nd hand sph though. I still insists we going for gripen lease though.

QUOTE(MilitaryMadness @ Oct 22 2016, 03:17 PM) Generally they're ok,ground vehicles usually isn't affected much by time and use if you keep parts and services up to date. But no more 2nd hand air force stuff, pls. The 1990s A-4 Skyhawk fiasco shows us how NOT to skimp on air force assets. Skyhawk deal? We get scammed by US and we didn't get all the skyhawks as well. Worse the aircraft conditions is so terrible.
