If China’s Stealth Fighter Is So Good, Why Is Beijing Still Buying Russian Warplanes?

The J-20’s engines and avionics lag behind

War is boring
*
1) balance trade with Russia (good friendship)
2) As benchmark/combat training for new Jet like J20/J31 even own J10/J-16.
3) For replace those first batch PLA Su-27 which order in 1993-94 which already reach 20+ year lifespan。 already start retired

Why deploy heavy tanks to distant islands in the middle of the sea? Unless the TNI expects China deploy Marines to land and try take over the island (which isn't the smart thing to do, thus China wouldn't probably try it) this isn't very efficient/useful. A naval/air attack/naval blockade on the islands would be more expected. confused.gif

China gov already announce they respect natuna island belong to Indonesia, and it not include 9 dash line claim by china in SCS.
only small part of EEZ zoon is include in 9 dash line。

but now we facing more difficult and complex job...much more compare to last time Gunmen kidnap on land/island,
as long those land/island have esscom/polis team in patrol mostly will be ok,
but now they Gunmen change to attack to fisherman bot/commercial ship in sea make much more difficult, no why our patrol boat can escort/follow so many boat all time and it just happens at border, make difficult way to counter.
seriously MY should negotiation with Philippine to allow our ship patrol more wider to Philippine water +-50Km more and allow to check all boat come to MY, also allow setup radar in some of Philippine island (pay rental)

our 'fleet overhaul' is too tight budgeted, most shipyards cannot make their margins with us lah doh.gif
highest calibre possible is 57mm gun, secondary guns probably a pair of DSI 30mm for commonality (ayam approve)
very basic sensors
maybe 2x TEU kontena equipment (I really dono sos from where, this is supposed to be MCM ship right?)
one RHIB
FFBNW C-801 AShM (aka won't buy rolleyes.gif )
hope is for western equipment on chinese hull, but already got foreseen problems with chinese combat management system... read the opinions on http://www.malaysiandefence.com/more-on-the-lms-68/
*
if Mk110 57mm + MSI + Thales cms hard for get cheap price .... the Mk110 it self already around usd 8+- million
personally not like 57mm at all。。。。
well what wrong with China CMS ?
if you using Tacticos or other, it still need china write code to integrate there radar, Main gun etc to CMS, means extra cost from 2 party.

Marine Corps F-35 Caught Fire During Training Flight
Military.com | Nov 07, 2016 | by Hope Hodge Seck
The Marine Corps is investigating after an F-35B Joint Strike Fighter based out of Beaufort, South Carolina, recently caught fire in mid-air, Military.com has learned.

The incident happened Oct. 27 at Marine Fighter Attack Training Squadron 501, a fleet replacement squadron for the Marine Corps consisting of 20 F-35B aircraft. One of the aircraft experienced a fire in the weapons bay while conducting a training mission over Beaufort, 1st Lt. John Roberts, a spokesman for 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing, told Military.com.

"The aircraft landed safely and there were no injuries sustained," he said. "An investigation is ongoing and we will provide updates as they are available."

No estimate of damage caused by the fire was available. The incident was listed by the Naval Safety Center as a Class A mishap, meaning damage totalled $2 million or more on the $100 million aircraft.

we dun need osprey.

it's beyond the means for the army to operate and it would make more sense for the af to buy more cn-235 which is cheaper to buy/operate, can fly farther and can take off from even the most ulu airfield in malaysia

but Osprey no need runway 。。。。。 laugh.gif

Report: German kidnapped, girlfriend killed as Abu Sayyaf storm yacht off Sabah waters
BY AWANG ALI OMAR - 7 NOVEMBER 2016 @ 12:01 PM

SANDAKAN: A German man was reportedly kidnapped while his girlfriend was shot dead when gunmen stormed their yacht off Malaysian waters yesterday. According to an Associated Press report, Abu Sayyaf militants made the claim yesterday and the Philippines military is now trying to verify the claims. The report, quoting regional military spokesman Major Filemon Tan, said Abu Sayyaf spokesman Muamar Askali had claimed that the militants kidnapped Juegen Kantner. They also reportedly killed his female companion as the couple were cruising off Malaysia. Tan said the woman might have put up a struggle or tried to escape, which led to her getting killed. It was alleged that the yacht was last spotted sailing in waters off Tambisan, Lahad Datu last week.

looks like it can be tasked with mine warfare

new things to note it also can do hydrographic survey?
possibly also replacing the current navy hydrographic survey ships

*
No issue LMS as hydrographic survey ship as long right equipment install like Multibeam Sonar which can scan sea floor mapping in 2D imaging and profiling capabilities. just size of ship determinant how deep if survey, for SCS and our water, deep not more than 500meter small ship enough. if need scan 2000 meter or more than we need big survey ship can carry more bigger and power full sonar.

Karel Doorman (Daman JOINT SUPPORT SHIP)
i always think it is perfact MRSS ship for our RMN. 2 unit will be enough。price usd 450m on 2013, now possible need 500m for now but can perform more than 5-in-1 role。 although it more expensive than LPD,but it enough to support all our navy requirement.
- Helicopter LPD with 2 chinook capable landing spot, and with 6 chinook folded hanger, should 10 unit for small helicopter)
- Strategic Transport
- full Role 3 hospital ship capability ( search & rescue )
- Auxiliary ship
- replenishment ship (oil/Materials/supply)

buy after Gowind and LMS? can expect to wait till 2025 or even 2030 to start building... looking at ringgit doh.gif
may not be suitable for us - made for cold weather not hot etc.
*
i not means now ... just went the time they consider getting MRSS..
no issue on weather, Daman have have experience on it, since they also built warship for Indo and Vietnam. also many commercial ship for hot region。if buying sure the weather will be part of requirement。 even built ship for hot area much easy than in cool area, due to no need include heater pipeline and heater system/module for entire ship.

For LCS ie Gowind? puke.gif sorry, I think ALL those names... don't sound good doh.gif

I like the Royal Navy and old Imperial Japanese Navy naming conventions - the RN tries to name them the same letter or theme (ie county-class) while the IJN includes some of their famous mountains; both of them as well as many other navies reuse historic names of retired ships.

I think mountains are nice. How about:

KD Kinabalu
KD Tahan
KD Ledang
KD Korbu
KD Jerai
KD Murud/Mulu

I never liked the idea of naming ships after people.
*
me too, actually i also thinking mountains name for lcs, but mountains usually for something "big" so i better reserve for future RMN big ship like MRSS. laugh.gif
