DCNS Installed the Panoramic Sensors & Intelligence Module (PSIM) Aboard its 1st Gowind Corvette



On October 28, French naval shipbuilding group DCNS installed a Panoramic Sensors and Intelligence Module (PSIM) on a vessel for the first time. This innovative mast designed and produced by DCNS integrates the SETIS combat management system as well as most sensors of the Gowind corvette. According to DCNS, the PSIM brings increased operational performance and better control of costs and lead times. This important milestone confirms DCNS capacity for innovation and operational agility.

just other MMEA new large patrol ship project, which design include helicopter pad. 84 meter about 1300--1500 tons.
3 ship will be built.

generally it bigger beam about 16 meter which usually use in 3500-4500 tons warship. thanks advance material/superstructure can make ship hull bigger. cost price Egyptian Gowind usd 360m each.

I offcouse support 15-5 plan, currently too many type of ship, but i prefer 15-7, but future any plan can change, depend on budget.
those ship like Handalan,Perdana, Jerong class boat already more than 40 years, not really can use any more for APMM. even boat now i guest in low serviceability or can sink any time.
BM5/BM6/Tun Azizan just temporary workaround ship (limited capability), since we not have LPD or Auxiliary ship or MRSS. i estimated those 3 ship will use for 10 years before MRSS will built. since all navy budget will go to LMS/LCS, i predict MRSS only will get after 2023-2025. or soonest is 2020.
currently RMN have KD MAHAWANGSA & KD Sri Indera Sakti small multi propose support ship also already 33+ year old, i believe it only have other 10 year life.

agree, it will cost more, and not happen soon, at lease ofter SGPV is built. i think LMS can past to 2nd tier ship yard to built.
also BM5/BM6/Tun Azizan after Lahad Datu standoff，it add role as mobile sea base, but it not really good solution.

Muhibbah Enginerring propose mobile offshore base see on DSA 2016 much better solution。future Mindef can consider it. put 2 in semporna 1 in Sandakan offshore。

RMN Receives MV Aishah Aims 4 For Hydrographic Survey

PELABUHAN KLANG, Nov 15 (Bernama) -- The Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) today received the MV Aishah Aims 4 vessel which is capable of carrying out a broad and comprehensive hydrographic data survey of the country's territorial waters.

RMN chief Admiral Datuk Seri Ahmad Kamarulzaman Ahmad Badaruddin said the vessel was obtained through a lease contract to replace the RMN's two existing hydrographic survey vessels, 'KD Mutiara' and 'KD Perantau', which would be phased out in stages.

"For instance, the function of the 40-year-old KD Mutiara cannot be optimised fully as it requires high operational and maintenance costs. The annual expenditure to operate KD Mutiara and KD Perantau costs between RM25 million and RM30 million.....

mainly issue on P&C of survey， some survey will be use for like warship and submarine,
commercial ship usually already have there route path.
civilian survey firm usually use for fix location survey like for commercial project exp: Bridge, tunnel, port, reclamation land for building etc.
but anyway still depend gov policy。
