I heard there are 2 types of pomelo in ipoh , one is sour which is red in color.
How to choose sweet color but need to be watery and juicy. Not those dry until you can't eat or sollow.

Duration eat for choosing
-Today
-Next 2 week

How to choose and make sure they are ripe for eat after 2 weeks ? Some may say heavy weight is better but how to weight while buying ?
About smell , it's so hard to smell since the skin is tick, and where to sniff ? top ?
Any different on tick and thin skin ? smooth peels and etc ?

Newbie here because it's almost as expensive and even more expensive than durian D , 1 pomelo cost more than RM 30.If choose wrongly it's gone. Not like you can return or confirm sweet if wanted to eat 2 weeks later or today.

Thanks smile.gif

There are 30 stalls around selling price is expensive RM 30++ to 50++ .Around 1.5kg to 3.5kg
I can ask them to pick but not sure whether they are honest and picking the sweet one for you.One blow 2-4 pomelo = RM 100+ and need to wait for 2 weeks only can know the return whether trusted or not and by that time the season already over.
It's not like durian can open on the spot and change if it's bad.

At lease gaining some knowledge on how to choose , some website just mention little guide but are from foreign country.

Wonder any farmer that farm Pomelo can give some tips ?

Not sure if its true or not but this is what someone from perak told me.

Always buy Tambun pamelo, chances of getting sweet one is better compare to other part of Perak's pamelo.

Choose the one where the bottom (center) is not protruded but with a depression (like in most oranges), high chances it will be sweet. If bottom protruded, mean sour.

This i try on oranges but not pamelo before. So one hv to try it to see if its true.

Cant believe noone here actually knows how to pick good pamelo.. Myself already a good picker, learn more and compare, then you will get answer. To pick a sweet a good fruits is very easy for me unless watermelon.. That one got water also not mean sweet one, have to listen to the sound and the skin.. Quite hard
*
Problem is you need to experiment or test.Even a good picker need practice and guiding from someone experience in order to compare them.

Red pink definitely is sour ... Normally the sour one is bigger size n the skin is thick ...

How many days u keep be4 u eat ? Tat is y i m asking u to ask the seller how many days able to keep n what the best time to eat .... Farmer normally plug the pomelo before masak ... Eat too early tak boleh eat too late will dry ... So ask them ...

Again if you are buying it in ipoh, go to Jalan Ampang Ipoh... Most of the seller is aunty n uncle ... Don ask ah moi or ah jai which no experience ... Other places in ipoh either chicken chop u or tong simen you ...

FYI : there is not many tambun pomelo available in the market ... All i can said is, go to Jalan Ampang Ipoh to look for pomelo as that the places sell Tambun pomelo ... Y ? Coz tambun town is next to Ampang town

Sorry not expert here ,
I remember Reddish pink is honey cooling sweet , another red pink is sour. How identified both of them ? I am sure the seller also can't tell the different.

What is the different buying at Jalan Ampang Ipoh and Jalan Tanbum Baru Ipoh roadside ?

To pick a juicy pomelo, the pomelo should feel heavier as it usually indicates that there is plenty of juices in the pulp.

We have a pomelo plantation in tambun and we usually provide wholsesale prices. We have been selling for the past 4 years and usually our customers repeat their orders smile.gif

Do like our facebook page www.facebook.com/tambunhoneypomelo for more details. Thanks!!
