no damage will be done to ur car
if u jump 1 gear ahead.... no one ask u to drive 1st gear then enter 5th gear...then ur clutch plate mah getting thinner easily lor unless ur car is so powerful that u need 5th gear to start rolling downshift depends on rpm .......... i can even downshift and upshift without stepping on the clutch if u get the rpm rite...... it's possible..dun wanna debate this with u guys.... |

QUOTE(J-Slade @ Jan 28 2007, 10:38 AM) My dad usually shifts from 3 to 5... but I usually do in sequence. i do that most of the time How bout, does any of you start moving in 2nd gear? but u have to make sure the engine has enough torque to pull the car from standstill la sometimes i do skip 4th gear i engage 3rd gear, then i take over cars, after settled down, i shift to 5th gear to continue cruising also, with RPM matching, its possible to shift without the use of clutch you just need skill This post has been edited by Beach_Boy: Jan 28 2007, 07:17 PM |

QUOTE(apache_utara @ Jan 28 2007, 12:56 PM) Not necessarily tho. Depends on how much you press the accel paddle. Lets say u are at 5th gear, doing 2.5k rpm and climbing a slope. Even tho you are slowly making your way up, you'll need more power to keep the engine running at 2.5k in fifth gear than to drop to 4th or 3rd and move up at 3-3.5kA vaccuum gauge will always be a better indicator of FC usage, not the engine rpm Also, starting from gear 2 or gear 3 isnt a very recommendable thing is because you can kill the clutch prematurely. By balancing in such a way that it transfers enough power for a smooth take off from static, you are actually allowing the clutch to slip more before enough power is transffered to make the car move. So, if you dont want to stress your clutch and kill it prematurely, dont take off from standstill with other gear than 1st edit : spelling QUOTE also, with RPM matching, its possible to shift without the use of clutch you just need skill try googling BB: down and upshifting without clutching is relatively easy in a synchomeshed gearbox. u dont need to precisely match the engine speed with the gear speed as the syncho will help to mate them. try doing that in unsynchomeshed gearbox and see This post has been edited by daijoubu: Jan 28 2007, 08:14 PM |

Its getting hard for me to shift in 1st and 2nd gear from N. I can control the cluth very well, that why I felt more comfortable to skip certain gear which makes the car cruise way smoother than if I switch them in sequal

Yes its possible to shift a gear without engaging the clutch.
I found out when I did that accidentally. I was dreaming one day when driving and accidentally shifted without engaging the clutch. It's possible to my supprised!! Edit: I also found out that when your RPM is slightly above 1000rpm, its kinda easy to slot into first gear without engaging the clutch. the sweetspot is somewhere around 1200 -1300 rpm. but it depends on car though. Ok googling already and found some info.
I already know before can go to neutral without clutch. But i can't do it with my sister Wira 1.3 since no tachometer + not my car. Don't know if can try with F355 Simulator. |

if u driving the latest corvette, u can go from 0-100kmh in 1 gear lah....
means, u can only do it if u have enough torque... |

you can jump from 1 straight to 5 also no problem....
just rev to red line for first gear then shift straight to 5 and watch your car accelerate like a turtle... |

1st gear for normal cars, max red line around 50km/h straight go to 5th, turtle like u said
The best way is to rev to the optimised powerband then u shift gear, I heard it saves fuel because your car has enough torque to move already, the momentum is there so less working on the engine on higher gears |
