Inserting a pokemon alone gives 2k prestige

1st pokemon 0 > 2000 goes straight to level 2
2nd pokemon 2000 > 4000 goes straight to level 3
3rd pokemon 4000 > 6000, need to train prestige to reach level 4 (8000)

no. all factors count, but in short follow these principles:

1. Moveset and CP is for fighting gyms
2. Moveset and IV is the determinant for powering up; only if both are good do you powerup
3. however, don't bother powering up if both you and your pokemon are low level

for perspective: to powerup a pokemon from level 20 to level 30, you need something like average 4000 stardust per powerup. 80,000 stardust per pokemon. just keep that in mind...

I currently have 450 poke slots and 600 item slots.

Why not? You know hard it is to get Max revives and pots? And even a 100 Ultraballs can go just like that if you chase 4 d9s one after another, or get anothee starter spawn event like recently

Pokemon storage too... gym attackers, gym defenders, 2nd liners, then from walking eggs I got a lot of lvl 20 strong IVs sitting around waiting for candy to evolve and powerup, and I got to keep around 120 slots free for evolving worms and birds.

Flareon was useful back when Growlithe was rarer
Then when KLCC became "fire dog" nest everyone stocked up on candies

Not anymore I think. Dragon breath + pulse is best defending set now IIRC
