Tyre compound/carcass a bit different this year, some riders think they have difficulty to adapt. Last year's tyre supposed to come to Argentina but didn't make it in time.
VR most notably is the one struggling with this year's tire.
Struggling but still can make podiums. He said it may not be the tyres after all, just the new 2017 bike.
That's my worry, he and his team don't seem to have found the real root cause and solution yet. MV has proven the bike is a winner, so up to VR to make it work for him also.

well, the M1 is regarded as among the best bike in motogp, highly adaptable even for newcomers. zarco & vinales just proved it.
that's why i think VR problem is maybe not the bike 100%.
VR admitted the 2016 bike is easier to ride hence Zarco and Folger did well in testing, VR preferred the old bike but to move forward, both riders have to use the 2017 bike.
VR needs to sort out his performance deficit quickly and beat MV soon or else the more times MV beats him, the more confident MV will be and probably VR might get cranky.
It has been noticed that JL99 style suits him when the path is clear. he is not such an overtaker. can only ride well when he is leading, that's why pole position is important for him.

Actually he can overtake but just not as decisive & daring as VR or MM in a duel. He's also more sensitive to tire which needs to have very good edge grip, or else he will struggle.

i always call JL99 as robot...
which can set fast time, perfect laptime on every lap...very stable and smooth riding style...
but prone to crash/kicked out of focus when battling with ppl....
maybe he was fighting with his deja-vu when during those time that during his early season with yamaha...
he kept crashing and it took him few years to adapt....
