Are you fighting a fren on lan or opponents via net? Anyway here is my take: If everything goes according to plan IG actually owns Tau in tier 1, that is, if you got everything running right. Ordo Xenos Classified Waba's guide to Anti Tau build for IG in Tier 1 ![]() Blasted grey skins pinned you down? Time for boot camp! I) Know the odds Standardly speaking if both players are about the same level IG vs Tau is one of the worst match up for a new IG player, for your guardsman will melt in the face of fire warriors, some "advance skill" is required to even up the odds, lets see: Here is how, for a standard IG BO in T1 you will have: 1 CS 3 GMs 1 or 2 Commissars 2 techpriest Where as Tau might have 1 vespid (optional) 2~3 FW 1 TC (gonna be late if he goes vespid) 1 to 2 SS <--- zero threat except for ecomical in T1, ignored 2 Earthcaste <--- 0 threat, ignored if Tau go kroots you wont have to worry about TC for some time. Your insight into Imperial Guard tactics is very informative. My thanks on behalf of the mud sloggers among us who have but flashlights and T-shirts to deal with the horrors of the Warp and fell xenos. Some questions though ... The build in question seems very T1 heavy. The use of a turret (30 power), a fully kitted out Command Squad (100 power with 1 General and 2 Psykers), and 2 Commisars (80 power), require 210 units of power...almost doubling the delay to reach T2. This may require 2 or more generators and a more defensive build. Are you banking on an all out earlier offensive to sledgehammer the Tau to death? What of holding on and then cranking out HWTs and Chimera spam? I've seen your earlier replay on Quest's Triumph. The defensive turret within two strategic points was an interesting tactic though wouldn't it be more expedient to put it closer to his base entrance? I've seen several other replays where they went for a double turret strategy and locked down both relics. Which would be a more tactically sound approach? In a straight up fight - what are the odds with a fresh Vespid team and an IG squad with a Commisar ? Is it worth it to detach the commisar and give them 2 targets? |

My thanks on behalf of the mud sloggers among us who have but flashlights and T-shirts to deal with the horrors of the Warp and fell xenos. Indeed. The key is to defend yourself well so that the vespid do minimum dmg to your econ. So, delay in teching is undeniable, fortunately, if the tau go for vespid route, he will be delayed in teching as well, so not much worry on that. HWT is bugged, I wouldnt use it though. I prefer to get chimera or hh as tau AV is generally weak. Some questions though ... The build in question seems very T1 heavy. The use of a turret (30 power), a fully kitted out Command Squad (100 power with 1 General and 2 Psykers), and 2 Commisars (80 power), require 210 units of power...almost doubling the delay to reach T2. Depends on map, barricading tau with early turret is always not preferable due to the WTFOMGLOL range of fw. By having vespid in the frontline, two or three squad fw had no trouble taking care of your entire barricade. Plus you might worry the tau go fast tech to get the WTFOMGLOL TC's ML and fusion blaster which could just wipe out any vec and buildings in a minute. Tau econ hardly suffer in this scenario when in the hand of good micro-er due to SS. |

QUOTE(Cheesenium @ Feb 22 2007, 12:09 PM) Nice guide,Waba. Welcome, young Seer of Biel-Tan. I am Farseer Malla. For I will guide you to understand our race better so that you could be independence on your own. I apologize for raising you to the rank in such a sudden manner, but we have not much time left as the Great Enemy's minions drew near to our Craftworld at every moment we speak. Let's us go through our standard battlefield option quickly. Now,im gonna learn how to use Eldar and Orks. Those 2 are the only race that i cant use at all. Any guides for those 2 race? As a child to the God of War Khaine, we practice a standard battle option which we inherit from Khaine. This battle option ensures us highest chance of winning among the others battle option. Listen carefully and make sure you protect this secret like you protect your soul within your soulstone. At the start: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() 1. Build a Aspect Portal with the 1st Bonesinger, shift build power gen. 2. Queue a BS, 2 Guardians squad, Fleet of Foot research 3. Had the 2nd BS to assists the 1st BS. 4. Start capping with the 2 GUs squad. Build LP when SP is capped. 5. Once the AP is ready, build ranger. Queue Infiltration research. 6. Once ranger is ready, overwatch them to full squad so that they could reach full effectiveness. Send them to start harass the enemy. Depends on map size, FoF research should be ready when your ranger is on the way to enemy base. 7. IMPORTANT: Once FoF is ready, make sure all your GUs squad had the FoF on so that they could travel faster from SP to SP. 8. Draw the GU squad to assists the ranger once they have finished capping. 9. Build a second gen when req is allowed. From this point on, you can consider upgrade your LP to LP1 when the req allow it. But do remember, if you plan to get all LP to LP1 first, you need more generator. Ideally to be at least 4. 10. As long as you micro well and protect your squad well, you should have excessive req right now. Stockpile req to build Soulshrine. 11. Build more BS to build another 2 more gen. DO NOT had more than 2 BS to build the SS as more than 2 BS on one building serve little purpose. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() 12. Once SS is ready, research Improved Optic and Reinforced Armor. 13. Build Support Portal. 14. Once SP is ready, build 2x Falcon. At the same time, build a webway. 15. When falcon is out, upgrade their weapon and fly them to frontline to enhance the harassing. 16. Build Warpspider stone in AP. Max out your gen and consider take the global req and power research. Build more webway. 17. Once WS stone is ready, build 3x WS. Always build the exarch first when the WS is ready. Send WS to start the killing. 18. From this point on, you are on your own. You could go for Wraithlord or advance to tier3. We shall take a break and come back for other battle options that we had followed by specific foe battle options. This post has been edited by TheNameX: Feb 23 2007, 12:12 PM |

QUOTE Can i get a shirt too? Nothing is comfirm at the moment, until Kong comes back with the production issues/pricing may be then the shirts can be ordered with the bulkQUOTE The build in question seems very T1 heavy. This may require 2 or more generators and a more defensive build. Are you banking on an all out earlier offensive to sledgehammer the Tau to death? What of holding on and then cranking out HWTs and Chimera spam? The idea is to have the rights to call the shot in the match, if you run this drill Tau will be forced to react, if he goes hard tech he would probably lose. If he managed to survived you would have probably captured two or more SPs than him. Lay down a few more turrets and tech up with your superior econ.QUOTE I've seen your earlier replay on Quest's Triumph. The defensive turret within two strategic points was an interesting tactic though wouldn't it be more expedient to put it closer to his base entrance? I've seen several other replays where they went for a double turret strategy and locked down both relics. Which would be a more tactically sound approach? Trying to put a turret near to the tau base might sound nice but if the vespid sees it when it is coming will spell doom for all your plansQUOTE In a straight up fight - what are the odds with a fresh Vespid team and an IG squad with a Commisar ? Is it worth it to detach the commisar and give them 2 targets? The guardsman will break if the vespid comes ccing you, it is better to let the officer deal with them while GM shoot for free. At tier 2 it is feasable to attached commissar to Gm as you can execute to make them fight harder, at tier 1 they are better off unattached in my experience.QUOTE btw.. can u put in something like "Dawn Of War Community".. so that ppl will know we are DOW players... If you has trouble micro your capper in other race except Eldar, then my advice is, dont play eldar. Micro is too important for eldar. That's why in low level play (auto<1400) you dont see much eldar as any noob abuser can just simply pawn an eldar without too much ease. Gonna try it out on the ai 1st before try it on real players. QUOTE(Cheesenium @ Feb 23 2007, 03:20 PM) I never deny that fact, but it's better to train your micro with other race before you really dip your hand into Eldar. When you are in a losing streak with Eldar, I doubt you will have the courage to keep on playing anymore. |
