Was thinking to get a unit for my mother. Is MTK version really that bad?
*
MTK is bad. But SD version is even worse. According to benchmark, SD version is slower than MTK version by 40%.

that is due to redmi note 4 SD version is using "lower end" cpu, only A53, while MTK variant which use Helio x20 got dual core higher performance a72 cores..
for battery usage, SD version should have longer lasting battery, but in favor of performance sacrifices.

As for android updates, SD version might receive faster updates than MTK tho

i dunno whats the problem with the MTK version.. as far as i using this phone:

- performance is good. no lagging
- multitask also good
- im not a gamers, cant comment. i use for working, communicate, wassap etc
- battery can last me the whole day until bed time
- gps very fast ( i have issue with gps when i used mi4 last time - snapdragon 801)

i think for a normal user, mtk version is good enough already.

what more can i expect from a phone less than RM 800, rite? smile.gif

No problem at all. The reason why some people become illogical and against MTK because during Redmi Note 3, MTK is really bad like slower and battery life and overheat.

Now in Redmi Note 4, MTK is better than SD version. But some people get blinded by SD supporter. That is life. Bias is everywhere.

Like everything else in this world... Brand recognition, this Qualcomm is indeed better than Mediatek.

But how important is the brand when all matters is just function? At least in this case.

My Mi5s have this issue. Need proper support for MAC. Really troublesome.

Means in a summary, SD has a higher battery life but poorer performance? How will its price be compared to MTK version?

MTK already very good battery life. You can extend the battery life with powerbank. But you can't increase performance of the SD. So its obvious that MTK is the better buy.

Which other MTK Helio X20 phone with these specs (3gb ram & 64gb rom, global rom, ota updates, google playstore) can get under rm700? (Via lazada + coupon voucher)

Work use is great.. occasional gaming is awesome.. no lags, multitask, so far so good. Battery can last whole day till bed time.. and recharges fast too.

Wait officially? In ur dreams la, mi msia tunggu jadik obsolete model baru nak campak masuk msia.

Im a SD fans, I got 2 phone.
Oneplus two, and Redmi Note 4.

Redmi Note 4 is very good. Out of my expectation , MTK helio x20 did very well.

Now Im flashed Global Dev Rom, battery life also good. No lagging or bug so far.

X20 did very because they learn from failure of X10.

X20 got two A72 (core from SD650) and eight A53.

Redmi Note 4 MTK performance is between SD650 and SD820.

Don't have much problems except for the battery standby drain in non-4G coverage. I think the SD version will be more suitable due to it's power efficient SoC. Just buy AP unit and forget about Mi Malaysia bringing it in.

where/which hphone store that sell Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 SD version in Malaysia ? hmm.gif i'm thinking to buy it ...
