Let me give ur a clearer picture here about the costs of repairing LCD Screen.
In this instant is 14.1"

[1] For a new LCD screen from HP,the cost is around RM 18xx.00 to RM 2xxx.00 depend on what model.HP part includes Lcd screen + casing.
Time of ordering : 3-4 weeks.

[2] A new Lcd screen not from HP but from outside supplier,the costs of repairing is RM 14xx.00 to RM 15xx.00.
Time of repairing : 2-3 weeks.

[3] Lastly second hand but guarantee of its use,costs of repairing is RM 899.00 or less .This takes probably 2 or 3 days for the repairing to be completed.

My laptop is having problem now too....for HP service center...they will charge u RM95 (a MUST)for inspection or diagnose...

For your situation (if you bring it to the HP service center) since you knew that the LCD is broken...they will charge u RM195 for the labour and inspection fees...for the part it will depend on what the tech tell u...they will quote you a price....

Actually, I live in Penang. And I sent my notebook for inspection. The quotation they gave me for the new LCD panel was RM3600. I'm not sure if it's more expensive because the panel comes with webcam but can you tell me if I can find something cheaper?

the price is start from rm600 until rm1000, depend ur screen is how many inch

I think this is not a good new to u.I have checked it out.Branded machince and their policy is s**k .They really impose a high fee to u.I also been told that the branded notebook case has no replacement for it .It is only be availabled direct from the principle.

I also been informed that a branded one will impose a service fees 380.00, regardless whether it is repaired or no.

So,is there any other alternative about solving ur problem ? It is hard........real hard I might say.Unless the notebook repairer can find a second hand part.But this is not easy to get a suitable Lcd screen for ur notebook especially came with camera summore.I mean how many percentage that people who bought this same model as u and spoilt and then trade-in by the repair shop.The chances is tiny.

It depends on luck.Hence, u have no choice but go direct to the principle.Before u make the final decision,does RM 3600.00 worth of repairing if compare to buy a new one ?

Hi i own acer aspire 4710G i bought in Sarawak in July last year and now its uni semester holiday so i return back to semenanjung. Recently a problem arise on my laptop so i send it to a shop nearby to find out whats wrong and now the guy told me the problem is with my hard disk and display (whether that mean the monitor or the card, i will find out soon) so he told me to send it to acer center in penang. Since i live in sungai petani i think that make sense rather than in kl. So does anybody know the address of acer center in penang since i am going there this saturday...
Would it cost me anything? since the problem is with hardware. Oh yeah i have one year warranty.

One more question, the thing is i am not knwledgeable about laptop, is it possible to upgrade the ram of laptop, just like desktop? to 1 gig or 2 gig? and the video card to 512 because i am a student and i do get bored. If i were to upgrade these, how much should i prepared?
