isit risky to do so? I've no experience in doing these, but would like to help both of them to get rid of it.

Not super straight forward as A B C but not so complicated too. Use the EDL method to flash global stable ROM then you will have the same ROM as an Ori My set rdn3 pro. It took me 30minz to do so. A lot of people has shared edl method link also you can YouTube EDL method rdn3 that helped me too.

for the price, i guess i can change phone once a year. couldnt be happier.

It's perfectly safe, and is pretty much the only way to flash global rom/dev rom for locked bootloaders. Fastboot method can only be used once your bootloader is unlocked.
Just follow this steps

http://en.miui.com/thread-235865-1-1.html

and you can get rn3 pro fasboot firmware files here

Is there a double-tap to wake (DT2W) feature in the RN3P?

I am coming from an LG G2, and is considering the RN3P. smile.gif

any settings to optimise the camera? i realise the quality of the pics are below par for a 16MP camera.

Out of the box, no. Install 3rd party app as RN3P battery is energizer bunny...

Nothing much we can do. The Sammy camera sensor is mediocre... Super-steady hand might help a bit...

I know that feeling too... Some say no need DT2W as there is Fingerprint Scanner... Now, if the FP scanner is located at the back, how do we wake up RN3 from sleep:

1) if it is mounted on car holder?
2) if it is sitting on the table with screen up?
3) if you are holding your baby on right-hand and bottle milk on left-hand?
4) if you are baking/cooking and both hands are "muddy"?

IMHO, FP scanner at the back is design failure... LG has to be blamed for this design... LOL...

Flaming time... LOL...

Natively no,
But if you're on custom roms there's flashable kernel that includes dt2w

This is where phones like zenfone series, lg, oneplus etc excels with of screen features

denimblue's former flagship device, the LG G2, is the first Android smartphone to come with DT2W.

No wonder he will miss it. biggrin.gif

This is an extract from an article I read.....

"The LG G2, the company 2013 flagship, was the first Android device to get the double tap to wake/sleep feature as default. Since then, most of the LG devices, whether entry-level or top-end, come with the novel feature.

The OnePlus One and Asus's ZenFone 2 smartphones also support double tap to wake/sleep feature straight out of the box.

Many apps are also available on Google Play Store that allows the feature on Android devices; however, these apps require root access.

The feature is very handy but it is not native to Android operating systems until Android 6.0 Marshmallow. It will be handy for Android if Google brings the double tap to wake/sleep feature to its upcoming software updates."
