Easily converts incomplete files between uTorrent, BitSpirit & BitComet clients.

Download the attached PACK.ZIP file into your PC.

Extract to a folder and just execute INSTALL.BAT

Now right click on a folder and behold!

Works only per folder. Renames all files in that folder. If there are sub folders, repeat the process for each sub folder. Useful for batch download folders containing multiple files.

Edit: For uTorrent, before starting, go to "Preferences -> Downloads" and enable "Append !ut to incomplete files".

Note: All files are in plain text! Simple batch program and registry entries. Please report any bugs if found. Absolutely no warranty!

No need command line, suitable for those lazy to type or lazy to rename one by one manually... This one is all point and click...

Well, just wondering...
Since, BitComet, BitSpirit & uTorrent all have the option to "Add .xy! extension to unfinishied file". Simply uncheck for all, the you download file will not have the annoying extension. Then you can switch to any of them anytime without rename it (troublesome).

Erm, so, with this. I can switch torrent program as i wish?

Scenario
Using uTorrent, DLed to 50%, wont move anymore. Start cursing uTorrent so decide to switch to BitComet.
Before switching, just run this .bat file, right click on the Download folder. And voila, the files become compatible with BitComet, and my file status stays at 50% at bitlord and DL continues?

Works like this? Btw, from uTorrent to Bitlord is possible?

There's only one problem with this.. One, you don't know which files are complete and which ones are incomplete. Second, if these are media files like for example AVI... it will cause folder view freezing problems when Explorer scans the folder for known media (especially if you have folder thumbnail preview enabled). An unfinished file is like a corrupted file, and the Explorer may have problems interpreting contents of such files.

Yups. Before switching to another client, just rename them. Erm.. Sorry I haven't catered for BitLord yet. If you want BitLord support, you can try adding some new codes/entries to the files and re-run the install... You can customize it as well...

Oop! You have encountered this problem. Usually I won't browse through the uncomplete BT folder.

The preview function in Windows Explorer is pretty annoying. You can disable it by using this file http://home.comcast.net/~optimizexp/Files/..._Previewing.zip

Just FYI, I always use the classic view for the download folder, and no thumbs or preview. Anyway, with those (!) extensions I can at least know which files I can open and which ones cannot when browsing the folder containing incomplete files.

Well, your program executes (.bat files) the command lines, so that's why I said fear it .

There is some settings you need to do!

You need to either check download for BitSpirit, manual hash check for BitComet, and force re-check for utorrent.

Actually the method is simple. Stop the torrent and REMOVE the torrent job from its list. Then use the rename utility I've provided to convert. Now on the other client, start the same torrent as a NEW job. For both BitSpirit and uTorrent, they will both automatically do a hash check (I've stopped using BitComet a long time ago). The default download folder should be the same in both clients.

If you are so afraid, why don't you check out all the files in there with NotePad. Its all plain text... You don't have to install it. Maybe start an interest in learning about registry and DOS commands?

Right! Imagine dozens of files in a batch folder... Each to his own way then. Now everything on my side is automated..

I've switched my torrents from BitComet to µTorrent but I didnt see those torrents appear on my µTorrent task. Am I doing it correctly?

Make sure your download folder on both BitComet and uTorrent are the same. On the BitComet client, stop the torrent and remove it (without deleting the downloaded data).

For just a single file, simply use Explorer interface, right click on file and Rename the extension from .bc! to .!ut (before doing this, make sure you disable/untick "Hide extensions for known file types" under "Tools->Folder Options..." View tab). If you want to rename a batch of files in this folder, then you can use my utility to do that (i.e. right click on folder and select...).

Now start a new torrent (i.e. the same torrent on BitComet) in uTorrent (make sure uTorrent option to add .!ut extension to incomplete files is enabled). You will then notice uTorrent starts (hash) checking the files first....

If you want switch back to BitComet, the same method applies....

What about from Azureus to uTorrent? Err... May I know does the incomplete files kept, ie. which folder? Is it under Program Files?

Lex, I've done all that already. But when i want to start a new torrent on uTorrent, I got this msg. "Unable to load bla,bla,bla.mp3.!ut:Invalid torrent file"
