Don't expect to work in biotech when you're done with university. There are close to none relevant jobs in biotech in the country

It simply means, when you graduate, you'll just look for some random job....sales job, office admin job, promoter, credit card agent whatever job that doesn't require any specific degree.

SG? If you are a new graduate out of USM, you will not be able to work in SG unless you get a role that pays you $4k which is almost improbable given that there are NUS grads looking for those roles too.

If interest is still telling you to study biotech....then go ahead but you have been warned.

In Msia, the best roles are still in O&G, followed by banking and finance. In 3-4 years, no one knows how the oil market will be, if you graduate like those who did so in 2011-2012....then you will be lucky, if you just finish a degree in petroleum engineering now.....really kanasai now.

no other roles beside this two? rclxub.gif  rclxub.gif  rclxub.gif

Within the Msian context, these are the best jobs for new graduates.

Of course not everybody in Msia study these two courses only, many still do other things. Their trajectories are also different. By that I mean, it took some of them 5 years plus to earn RM5k per mth, while some earns RM11k after 3 years. Some other earns in excess of RM20k on average per month because of investment in financial markets within 4-5 years.

What do you want to be when you grow up?

not engineer(except biotech engineer),businessman or work in bank.
I want a job which is related to biology such as doctor, scientist notworthy.gif

Then you have your answer....either you do medicine or you go all in to get your PhD in biosciences.

At your stage, it's difficult to say if you would want to do a PhD.........you have not even experienced university yet.....and to spend 10 years in university....may not be for everyone.

any difference between degree or phd later if i come out from uni?If got phd can get a job related to bio but degree cant? hmm.gif
*
Nope.....

When it comes to the market in general, a degree is the same as a PhD.

If you are talking about a research position in industry, then a PhD is required but these roles are non-existent in Msia. Even in SG they are rare. You will need to go to developed countries for these roles. They are usually R&D positions of corporations which means, they do not operate in Msia or any emerging economies.

so worry about my future now.How about food and nutrition degree?should have a lot of job oppurtunity since a lot of food kilang here right?
*
Then you will really end up nowhere.

Dont worry too much. Just do well in whatever degree that you like.

While doing your degree, build your competency in programming, digital trends and brush up on some financial literary and communication skills. If you have these sort of skills, you'll be prepared for a lot of jobs.

My mother's salary is like 5k per month ....my sis studies medicine in imu ....my brother studies in secondary school ...
But I got two relatives willing to loan me for degree.
I know I am a burden for my family haha.should have study for my spm last time .
*
What's the maximum your relatives are willing to sponsor?

Another option is to do ADP. Your A-level scores will be enough to give your 1 year worth of credits. You do 1 or 1.5 years in KL, then the remaining 2 or 1.5 years in Canada. There is still a university in Canada where you could get by with $15k per year - tuition and expenses.

Not sure but they are relatively  richer  compared to my family.
That's a good option !i will do more research on this.  Thanks for sharing  this

The name of the university is Memorial University

You really must do research on this. I don't know you in person but from what I see in this thread, you have trouble understanding how things work in general. You could be very sheltered and so very naive, not knowing how the world works.

If you want to study abroad and entertain the idea of settling abroad, you will need to be on the ball. You should be able to use google to answer most of your questions. You will need to read more than what is in your textbook.

Dreaming big and going abroad is not "given", you need to know the procedures, the risks, the processes and on top of that, you need to be aware of where you are, anticipating and planning 2-3 steps ahead before it actually happens.

This you need to demonstrate.....

See what I mean, when you're asking me what is ADP?

Sorry but I still dont know what is adp.i Google adp but it said something about career.am I looking at the correct thing ?

I admitted I am very naive and sheltered haha because I never care about study or working before.

Then learn to use google more effectively. I'm not teaching you how to use google. If you don't think you're getting the right answers, you just close google?

It's your choice now. You can either give more attention to your future and on how you want to get there or you can just sit to be fed information. If you expect to be fed information, then it's your own problem. No one really cares about your future, I earn sufficiently enough to not care about your future. Many of us here have given enough leads and tips for you to do your own reading and enrichment. If masih tak jadi, then it's an issue of personal capacity

I am still trying to google .....from what I am googling I get information about credit card or employee stuff. I assume the adp u mentioned is American degree transfer program (ADTP)
And adtp is a pre-u program.

Which of the above are relevant to you and to this discussion?

Tell me if I am wrong.so basically ppl enter adtp using spm result but if enter a level then I can credit transfer to cut down the time of degree to at most 1 year (but cannot use spm result ?)this is like twining program which university offer but more flexible.i can choose to have 1+2 or 2+1 depending on the university offer ?

My question is there a specific uni in Malaysia to study for two year or any university will do ?
*
Now we are talking.

Yes. Your A-lvl will allow you to get credits for your freshman year. Effectively giving you just 3 years to get a degree.

Depending on your financial situation, your choice of program, your choice of university, the college that you are currently enrolled at, you have the option of 1+2 or 2+1.

The downside of 2+1 is that your university choices will be limited because many universities will not want to recognise courses which you have done in your junior year. Courses in your junior year are largely related to your major. If you don't know what I am talking here, go and learn how about the college education structure in America and Canada. In North America, 'college' and 'university' are used interchangeably. A Harvard College degree is a university degree.

In Msia. Some of big provders of ADP programs are in Nilai, INTI, Taylor's, HELP, KDU, Sunway. Prices vary..........try INTI, they used to have good rates.

So I have to enter ADP program of one college for 1 year then study two more year at memorial university?I am considering my old college since they are offering 100% scholarship. The tuition fee in memorial university is count as XXper credit hours, does it mean the tuition fee is count as XX money per hour in class?I saw the pdf file of biology degree(http://www.mun.ca/biology/undergrad/MAJORANDHONOURSINBIOLOGY2015.pdf),so I have to choose and finish the course for year 3 and year4 and finish year2 course in my old college?
Fees for international students
Fee per credit hour: $293.33
*
Look up what credit hour means.

In one school year, you are expected to complete 30 credit hours. This translates to 10 courses.

if you can do year 2 at MCKL, then go and do it. Though ask if they have had experience transferring to Memorial/Canada

from mckl website they didnt state memorial university in the list.I will pay a visit to mckl tomorrow.

the living cost is very high based on this website...

http://www.numbeo.com/cost-of-living/count...layCurrency=MYR

Good that you are looking out for information like that.

The cost of living is high everywhere in the developed world for Msians because you earn in ringgits......the only cheap place for Msians today is Kalimantan or some ulu african place.

The minimum wage in St John's is $10.50 per hour. That is about RM33 per hour. How much is McD paying you in Msia? RM5 sejam?

Go and ask MCKL.

I went to mckl uni placement to ask about credit transfer but the staff told me I can't credit transfer and I still had to do two year of adtp in mckl .the staff told me that I might not be able to credit transfer to the last two year as well .besides, the relative who want to give me a loan only intend to loan me for local university.

He suggested me to take acca program as he said it is dirt cheap (20k for whole course ).Now I am trying to apply mckl-ucsi trust scholarship for medicine course .

Too bad then.

Good luck
