It does seem like getting high IVs are harder now. But I think there were times where I am so focused on IVs that I still keep high IV pokemons with poor movesets. I need to keep reminding myself that movesets are more important than IVs. And in order to achive higher CPs, while IV is a factor, your trainer level is also another factor and leveling up gets harder and harder and almost impossible to reach level 40. At least not by this year. If the pokemon is on the "God" or "A" tier, I am starting to keep those with best movesets even though their IVs are horrible, at least until I can find better ones, which is taking forever. But having the right movesets make a significant difference in battling gyms. You can feel the difference. Another thing as a keeper factor is high CP, stardust can be very costly especially if you have a lot of pokemons to power up. So I am starting to keep "God" tier pokemons with the right movesets even though they have poor IVs but high CP.

Yea, another gym was setup nearby though and pumped to level 10. Still standing today.

There are some high level red gyms in Sri Rambai near Wangsa Maju. I'm contributing there and a couple are around level 8. You're welcome to park your Mons there!

Any gym too near to LRT lines is difficult to defend because of traffic. If you intend to level a gym, lemme know where and maybe I can drive over to help.

I'm using iPhone 6, lately the game became kinda laggy & crashes a lot especially when loading up high level gym details for battling.

For level 9 gym, I can only battle it twice before it crashes the moment I tapped on the gym. Sometimes when I played too long & accidentally tapped on a high level gym to check out the defenders, it'll also crash.

Anyone experience this consistent crash? It's as if my phone don't have enough RAM to play the game.

For me, after training twice in a level 9 gym; confirm crash on the 3rd attempt. Have to restart the game before leveling up the gym to prevent kena sniped during crash.

Looks like gym leveling is gonna be hell until Niantic fix this excessive RAM usage issue.

Actually, my statement is kind of misleading. Stardust is very precious in end game especially once you have hit lvl 30 and above. If you caught any Tier 1 monsters eg. Snorlax, Lapras, Dragnonite; that has very high CP (mon lvl 27+), I believe it is worth to power it up to at least level 30.5 even though the IV is below average (50-70%). For a Snorlax, it will boost its CP range between 2.4k - 2.6k. This itself, is going to strengthen any gyms and cause a psychological deterrent for potential attackers (hold gyms longer). Likewise for a Dragonite, you can easily achieve 3k CP once it has been powered up to at least level 30. Just my 2 cents because this is exactly what I'm doing.

I managed to encounter 2 Snorlax this morning. Caught one 2.4k CP and the other 2.1k CP ran away.
