noob valor member reporting in smile.gif

sifu , got a question about dragonite moveset .

i ran through lots of website , most of them said dragon claw + dragon breath is the best attacker .

steel wing and dragon pulse is the best defender .

http://www.pogomoves.com/check.php?pkmn=Dr...arge=Hyper+Beam

link above state that dragon breath + hyperbeam is the best attacker .
i have a self evolved dragonite 96IV ( dragon breath + hyper beam) , Another one is 89IV (dragon breath + dragon pulse) ..

question is , is it worth to invest power up on the 96IV breath + beam ? or should i wait until i lucky enough to get a breath + claw /:

and certain website stat that crit is now not implemented yet although is in the code , so for now the dps diff is minimal for claw vs beam .

but if crit hit is implemented , claw will have 25% chance to crit while beam only have 5% .

D: so hard to decide , and damn ... no luck at all to get a good IV with breath and claw .
*
There's no best for everything. Depending whether you're using it for offensive or defensive purposes & if it's offensive, depending on which Pokemon is the defender.

Dragon Breath & Dragon Pulse is good for taking down other Dragonites.

Dragon Breath & Hyper Beam is generally good for attacking any types.

Dragon Claw is good for defending.

thanks bro night for the info !!!

for attacking i like quick skill ... for my snorlax , i love my lick + body slam , its really quick and fun to use . compare to my headbutt + beam snorlax .

so its a go to power up the breath + beam dragonite right  .

im kinda bored to find another 125 dratini candy to evolve into a dragonite thats not breath + claw .  doh.gif

For me, I personally like those 1 charge ultimate move like Hyper Beam, Solar Beam, Thunder, Hydro Pump etc. for attacking gyms cause the charge animation often spoil my dodging timing. So I prefer 1 powerful move to finish up the opponent.

Although I agree that those multiple charges move may deal more damage, but I don't always cast it the moment I can. So the overall DPS is lesser for players like me.

Those multiple charges is good for defending cause attackers tend to dodge the charged move only. So if the defender rarely do a charge move, it's easier for attackers to dodge it. While it's difficult for the attacker to dodge if the defender spams the charge move especially if the defender double cast its charge move.

Am at level 26 only get to see CP 383 while one friend caught a 1.8k and another get 1.5k. Feel like wanna throw the phone...LOL laugh.gif
*
Wahliao.....1k CP difference on Snorlax is a lot le. It's not the stardust, it's candy that we can't even get. Walking 5km for 1 candy is damn long le especially when you need like 3 candies to power up once.

"It's got excellent stats! How exciting" and "i'm blown away by its stats. WOW!"
Which one is bonus (IV) value of 15, the maximum?
Confusing cause some says the 1st one and some says the 2nd one. Which is the correct one?
Thanks.

Wow = 15
Excellent = 14-13

10 gyms = 100 coins le, how can you resist? Can go for a shopping spree after claiming laugh.gif

I've claimed 100 coins several times already, then usually if possible also wanna aim at least 60 coins. But I admit that I did it during odd hours la. During my 1st attempt was with other Valorians here, 4 of us GB the gyms from 11pm to 1am. Not too bad la & it's very exciting rushing from 1 gym to another until the 10th.

whats this IV stuff ?

how do i see it ?
*
IV = Individual Value

Details, just read up; https://pokeassistant.com/main/ivcalculator?locale=en

QUOTE
IV's Explained

Each type of Pokemon has a base set of attributes for Stamina, Attack and Defence. Each specific Pokemon is "born" with it's own IV (individual values), that further increase these stats by 0-15 extra points. You can not change the IV's, not all Pokemon are born equal.
These IV's make small differences in the final power of a Pokemon. For example, the base attributes of a Charizard are 212, 182, 156. This would be the "worst" charizard available where all IV's are zero. With max IV's, a Charizard would have 227, 197, 171. Each of these Atk, Def and Stam values for Charizard are only 7-10% better.
Nonetheless, if having the absolute best Pokemon is critical to you, this tool wll help you find the hidden IV values that your Pokemon has so you can decide to keep it or try for something better. Absolute perfection isn't just having the best IV's, the "perfect" Pokemon would have both maximum IVs AND the best Moveset possible. Note that your Pokemon's maximum level is governed by your trainer level. To level yourself up faster, and therefore gain access to leveling up your Pokemon further, check out XP Batching.
This tool uses the two following formulas and the inputs you provide about your Pokemon to attempt to identify its IVs:
HP = (Base Stam + Stam IV) * Lvl(CPScalar)
CP = (Base Atk + Atk IV) * (Base Def + Def IV)^0.5 * (Base Stam + Stam IV)^0.5 * Lvl(CPScalar)^2 / 10
Note that Pokemon have hidden levels and each level requires two "Power-Ups", this tool will display Level 4.5 if your Pokemon has had one Power-Up after level 4.
Too see how these stats can be used to your advantage in battle, check out the Best Attacker and Best Defender tools.
Major credit to u/__isitin__ for digging up the data. Huge thanks to trainer JarydC for getting the javascript for this across the line at the 11th hour, and to Ciuff and Nylonee for getting the ball rolling.

ytd went to PD waterfront again, notice the hype is dying down over there, hardly any lure on when i arrive, and not as many players as there was compared to two weeks ago.

anyways, summary of my catches ytd,

1 dratini
1 growlithe
3 magikarp
1 magnemite
2 voltorb
4 pikachu
4 machop
1 sandshrew
1 jigglypuff
3 geodude
tons of other common pokemons

i will go again this friday night, hopefully more ppl will put lures, get better catches,

btw anybody notice the pokemons hatched IVs recently not so good? previsouly all my pokemons from hatches will always give me 80% and above IVs, recently i notice not anymore, lik random d.....hmmmm
*
Nice info on PD.

And I do agree on the hatched IV, getting worse lately. I think my for last 5 hatchs, more than half were merely "Strong" only, no amazing. I was happy to hatch an exeggcute this morning but got so disappointed when I appraise it. Terus turn it into candy.....pffff

I need some advice.

I have a CP 1663 Vaporeon but with Aqua Tail
I have another CP 1352 Vaporeon and with Hydro Pump

Should I power up the better moveset or the higher CP... in a dilemma now.
*
- What are IVs for those Vaporeon?
- What's your level now?
- What other good water pokemons do you have & what's their move?
- Do you like to battle gyms frequently?

I'm level 29 & I can't get a high CP Vaporeon with Hydro Pump. I only got 2 amazing IV Vaporeon with Hydro Pump & they're CP869 & CP794 respectively. Kinda shows that some people just don't have the luck for a Vaporeon with an amazing IV (>80%) & high CP that has Hydro Pump.

i think u are saying hyperbeam instead of solar beam right .

most of the website said best attacking snorlax is lick + body slam . as body slam have the highest DPS . defensive snorlax they said is headbutt + hyperbeam .

DPS for lick and headbutt is almost same , i personally tried it in the gym . i like lick more than headbutt when i atk , its much faster ... body slam vs hyperbeam , i like hyperbeam more .

but earthquake is not that good because no stab bonus ..

so if u want to power it up , headbutt + beam is the better choice compare to earthquake .
*
Zen Headbutt is Psychic type while Lick is Ghost type, so each has its own advantages depending on who's your enemy.

Between Body Slam, Earth Quake & Hyperbeam, again each as its own advantages depending on what is your Snorlax role.

There is no best or ultimate build/move set here.

BTW if you wanna be a serious gym hunter, should join me & Terry one day. More people to GB the gyms.

I really really really want seriously, cause I got an amazing Solar Beam Exeggutor from BKK & few hours ago got another Hydro Pump Gyarados from the Magikarp in Setiawalk with you LOL. So got 2 new beasts in my team now, very very blood coin thirsty already! laugh.gif Later will go for some midnight farming for Stardust in preparation to power up some fighters in my team.

But tomorrow 7am, I'll be departing to Penang. Saturday only will be back, then Saturday night might need to meet someone else. Left with Sunday lol & I'm still trying to find a day to PD & Bagan Lalang.....the poison is real brows.gif

Going to evolve my Squirtle & Oddish soon, so hoping for more beasts in my team. And my buddy Charmander has been popping more & more candies, making Dataran more & more tempting each passing day.

Wah damn, so many places to go but so limited time hahaha........

Awesome catch, what move set it has again? I'm still mourning over my Steel Wing.

I saw some really awesome Valorian gyms today as I was driving through KL. Level 10, weakest defender was a CP2.1k Vaporeon, then 1 Snorlax & the balance 8 are Dragonites. That gym gonna hold for days......

Another one i saw nearby you, level 9 with a CP2.5k Dragonite as its weakest defender. So tempted to level up the gym & put my best Pokemon there too. Ez 10 coins for many days.

My friend is protecting 2 gyms too, been holding for many days already but it's a bit far. Still very tempted to go & park my best defender there. Then no need look for 10 gyms everyday already since got few gyms in hand liao

Yea, hatched 2 Squirtle & 1 Charmander already. My friend hatched 2 Charmander too.

Ironically Bulbasaur has the highest hatch chance compared to the other 2 if I'm not mistaken.

- What are IVs for those Vaporeon?
Aqua Tail 86.7% IV vs Hydro Pump 88.9% IV

- What's your level now?
Level 26

- What other good water pokemons do you have & what's their move?
My question is only limited to this two. Not considering others.

- Do you like to battle gyms frequently?
Yes. But Since I dont have any Water Pulse Vaporeon, I was thinking to power up the aqua tail to use as defender.

I have 7 amazing Vaporeon, 4 Hydro Pump, 3 Aqua Tail... I dont have problem with good Vaporeon supply laugh.gif I just dont have any water pulse vaporeon.
*
Level 26 & like to destroy gyms, if you got no other good water Pokemons with Hydro Pump, then you might wanna power up that Vaporeon. I have like 5 Hydro Pump in my team already, so no Vaporeon with Hydro Pump isn't a big issue for me. So I wasn't asking redundant questions cause I'm a gym destroyer too.

ytd me too , razz , curve ultra ball , nice shot , then swooooshhh .. run away in my first throw , 1500+ cp snorlax  doh.gif

btw . for the scaling thing , i read through the thread , dun really understand , need the sifu here to clarify .

firstly question , so we are able to catch starter pokemon on their nest with good IV ? like charmander in Dataran ? because all the charmander i caught at dataran , appraise is confirm "may not be great in battle "  puke.gif

and why catching wild snorlax and dragonite with good iv will be much harder?
i tot the IV for wild rare pokemon like snorlax and dragonite are random ?
because among all 11 snorlax i caught ,
IV random at : 42 , 51 , 53 , 53 , 55 , 60, 62 , 67 , 71 , 82 , 96 .

dragonite caught 3 , IV : 71 , 73 , 93 .

so the new scaling  , does it mean will give 0% IV to wild snorlax and dragonite ? where the old scaling wont ?

sorry for the noob question . lol
*
- Bulbasaur, Squirtle & Charmander caught from wild will always have crap IV is a bug which has been rectified. Now it's possible to catch a good IV Bulbasaur, Squirtle & Charmander. A friend caught a perfect IV Squirtle earlier.

- Dratini/Dragonaire (and possibly Dragonite) caught from wild, often (or always) has 15 ATK. That will no longer be happening cause that's also a bug which has been fixed.

- Snorlax caught from wild, often (or always) has 15 ATK. That will no longer be happening cause that's also a bug which has been fixed. Check all your precious Snorlax & see what's their ATK.

Damn, I shouldn't have ignored the Dratini I saw in sighting yesterday. No more ez 15 ATK Dratini/Dragonaire.
