Following this thread and makes me more confusing now. So, can anyone tell me is the micron chipset consider faulty card now ?
https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/96...1070-cards-/10/Okay, i just finished discussing this with one Nvidia Partner (will not mention their name for obvious reasons), reading between the lines, the GTX 1070 has been downgraded to Micron memory on purpose to lower its performance compared to the GTX 1080, to widen the gab between both cards and make the GTX 1080 sell more.
So Nvidia's strategy, if you want higher memory bandwidth for 4K, forget about buying the GTX 1070 and overclocking its memory, if you want more memory bandwidth you have to buy the GTX 1080.
Nvidia has instructed the AIBs to not share any information about this with end-users, so like i expected this information is classified.
The implications is that no fix will ever be provided because it is meant to be this way, and the latest driver update was only targeted at improving the stability of Micron memory at stock settings and nothing more, Nvidia will not do anything else about this.
GTX 1060 still uses Samsung GDDR5 8GHz modules in all the recent production so this eliminates the possibility of Samsung having any supply issues with GDDR5 like they are claiming.
