Huper Optik C70 Review:
I just installed HO C70 for my Front wind screen as the old one was removed when I replaced my windscreen. Previously using VKool Elite and all thensode windows are now still using VKool Elite that is already 7 years old. VKool Elite still good and reject heat very well, no discolouration what so ever.
As for HO C70, after 2 days of using and passing 8 toll plazas, initially for the few toll plaza the Smart Tag works, though a bit slowly, but after that it just stopped working under the C70 HO tint, battery life of my Smart Tag still good, so now I have to wind down window and hold up the Smart Tag to make it work. Was really surprised as the reason I opted for HO is for their Ceramic tint which say to work well with Smart Tag, but it’s not the case. Really inconvenient. Even the installer had slight doubt before installing, he told me errrr...HO has upgraded their tint and might not work well with Smart Tag. Too late now.
As for heat rejection, VKool definitely is better and the vision is also clearer compared to HO.
To whoever wanted to install HO C70 for FWS, take note and think twice.
I can sense a it of regret there which is comprehensible. It is certainly inconvenient to keep winding down the windscreen when the vehicle is going through Smart Tag booths, especially since the vehicle has been passing through these booths without any issues with the previous V-Kool Elite. It is quite surprising that the Huper Optik C70 cannot work with the Smart Tag device since the Huper Optik Sech 60 on my vehicle works with Smart Tag since Day 1.
Perhaps wait for few more days to see if the C70 will work with Smart Tag, or if the vision will become clearer since your Huper Optik tint is only 2 days old. If there is no improvement after 7 days from day of installation, then your findings on the inferior heat rejection, vision and Smart Tag performance with Huper Optik would be more or less confirmed, and the information on the "upgraded" C70 tint by the tint installer might hold water. Though not sure what aspect was improved since heat rejection and vision were still reported to be poor.
FWIW I have share my experience on Huper Optik vs V-Kool Elite previously on other threads. I am on Huper Optik Sech 60(front) and C40 (everywhere else). Even when new, the heat rejection on Huper Optik is not as good as V-Kool Elite. After almost 5 years now, the car feels like a burning oven every time I enter the car under the hot sun. The V-kool Elite certainly feels much cooler to me. The hue or shade of the V-kool tint is different from the Huper Optik, Sech 60 in my case. The V-Kool Elite has slight greenish hue whereas the Huper Optik Sech60 has a brownish hue. Both Huper Optik Sech60 and V-kool Elite on the front windscreen look clear to me. The only difference is the difference in hue whereby the greenish V-kool Elite feels more comfortable to the eye. A matter of preference.
As for Smart Tag, the Huper Optik Sech60 works 100% on my car, so there is no issue with Smart Tag. With my previous V-Kool Elite, the car also works with Smart Tag but on rare occasions maybe 1% to 2% it will get stuck at Smart Tag. The only issue I had with V-Kool Elite is GPS signal as almost 50% of the time I cannot get GPS inside the car when I wanted to use the Drive app on my smartphone. With Huper Optik there is no issue with GPS signal.
In summary, I would recommend that you wait for another 5 days to see if things will change for the better. If the condition doesn't improve after 5 days, then your experience on the Huper Optik C70 would be permanent.
The tint selection on my previous car would be dependent on both heat rejection and GPS signal. Both are important to me but if I were to choose one criteria, it would surely be GPS or Smart Tag signal friendly which would take precedence over everything else. Both Smart Tag and GPS app on smartphones would need to work with the tint. Currently both devices work with the Huper Optik tint on my car although in terms of heat rejection my car feels like an oven and not as cool as V-kool Elite. The current regulations permit VLT 30% on the rear side and rear windscreens so C30 can be chosen for those windscreens. Perhaps the car will be cooler if C30 is selected (instead of C40).
