Just try getting a free meal from TGM at KLIA2 today and was asked to show boarding pass. Is it the standard SOP now?
*
QUOTE(iwubpreve @ Jun 17 2018, 06:53 PM)
inside departure hall? boarding pass needed. outside no need lo.
*
QUOTE(besiegetank @ Jun 17 2018, 10:59 PM)
I had to show them my boarding pass before allowed to order my meal. They even checked whether the credit card name is the same as my boarding pass name.
*
The sop has always been to ask for boarding passes, at both landside outlets (never been to the Aerotel ppl yet)...but it's to confirm identity of the credit card owner....so showing a passport or IC also works....

I have always maintain that the land side outlets must only allow actual passengers to enter, so must have a boarding pass, or at least an e-ticket if you haven't check in....to stop abuses....

Hi bearbear
3. RHB Visa Infinite - 8x access Msia & Singapore

Updated: Unlimited access to lounges in Malaysia and Singapore Changi Airport
(for the first 1,000 per month)

Source: https://www.rhbgroup.com/products-and-servi...ite-credit-card
I thought RHB vi card has always been "unlimited", subject to the 1st 1000?

Which is why I choose the signature rather than vi.... guaranteed 5 better than trying luck every month....

Wellness Spa it seems, can also eat in The Bar.

The restricted free food menu at the bar is also pretty awful..... basically the airside lounges in KLIA2 are very ordinary food wise....even TGM quality has slipped...

But the Changi ppl and tgm are still very good....

Used the Premium lounge a few nights ago at KLIA. Very disappointed with the variety of food and drink there. Below average cafe standard in town. Maybe it was the late hours (~ 1 am) where the they were about to close down for the night?
*
QUOTE(jack2 @ Jun 28 2018, 11:54 PM)
not 24 hours meh? rclxm9.gif

QUOTE(laymank @ Jun 29 2018, 10:07 AM)
the food standard memang is like that 24 hours
*
The klia ppl is 24hrs....

The kind of food however will change depending on the time of day....

Have stayed overnight at ppl T1 Changi, their alacart stops after MN, only got some basic buffet food....then the bf menu starts at 6am.....I think about the same in ppl klia.... although the quality of food is much better in Changi than KLIA....

Unfair if them to cancel the regional airports.... really stupid move, penalising their customers in Penang and Borneo....

While I have always maintained that unlimited access is not sustainable and landside lounges susceptible to abuse, their recent restrictions are excessive....if they want to limit down access times, then remove the spend conditions....

I wonder how many cancellations of cc they will start to receive....

*
There is no lounge accessible by cc in KLIA domestic....a vacuum for a long time already....

Neither is there one in KLIA2 domestic airside....the ppl gateway and Aerotel are land side.....

aiks.. KLIA no landside? i saw on google there's one beside secret recipe?

Seems like KLIA2 got more lounge than KLIA. hermm

There is one but no access with cc....

Personally, all lounges should be airside....with the exception of some arrival lounges which is perhaps best past luggage collection....

The aeon cards allow access to the KLIA2 landside lounges, so you can still use traveling domestic....just need to give yourself enough time to go through security and reach the gates on time....some even use the land side lounges at KLIA2 although they are departing from KLIA....

u mean if i have klia boarding pass, I can also use KLIA2 lounges?
*
QUOTE(nothingz @ Jul 8 2018, 05:23 PM)
i thought in the revision last year TGM Changi T2 was removed, now it is back in the list.

'Cardholders are required to present their AmBank Credit Card/ AmBank Islamic Credit Card-i and Boarding Pass upon entry to the lounge. The name on the Boarding Pass must match the Cardholders name on the credit card/-i in order to be allowed entry to the lounge. Plaza Premium Lounge reserves the right to refuse entry to the Cardholder in the event of any non-valid details of the credit card/-i or Boarding Pass.'

not sure if it will be enforced strictly
*
The banks, and ppl have been very lax in how they regulate this. ..in the past, you don't even need a boarding pass to enter the lounge...so many people abuse it by using it as free meals....

And ppl don't really care, and every entry is income for them...so they will allow your friends to enter by swiping your cards too....

For banks with restricted annual entries, it's not too bad, they know their commitment is within the numbers allowed....

It was a big problem with Ambank cards...as they allow unlimited entries....after they removed the 3 times swipe requirement....

They realised this, and reintroduced restrictions, this time spend of at least rm500 per entry....and removed the much abused land side lounges in KLIA2....

And now they further tighten the rules, restricting to only 5 entries a year, unless you are Signature status....

To me, the best card, win win for all will have the following conditions:
1. Free for life
2. No restriction for entries. I don't mind clearly defined limits in number of times you are allowed, whatever....but trying to consciously keep track of spending as a condition is a no no...
3. Supplementary cards also allowed to enter... seriously banks want the customer to enter and leave his wife/children outside?...
4. Broad range of lounges in the list....all local airports should be included (Ambank went overboard here in removing pen and Borneo)...

There is unfortunately no card that satisfy all these now....if the banks are serious about keeping premium customers, they should get feedback from their customers and should introduce a card like this....

Premium customer means you need to have few million deposit with them or spending more than a million per years, otherwise bank won’t provide this at their own cost.

Unfortunately, most cc holder din qualify for that premium criteria
*
You don't need that kind of money to be with the private banking services...most bank will accept you with 200k+-

The biggest "high nett worth" group are not the millionaires, but the group of successful professional/upper management people with maybe half a million of liquid assets to "manage"...

QUOTE(matrix88 @ Jul 8 2018, 08:43 PM)
people who qualify also wont use ppl la, they will fly business or first class and use their airlines lounge which is better equipped and more privacy.
*
Not true....the only people who fly business class are those on business/official travels....I can tell you if it's from own pockets, they will fly y class.....and welcome use of such free lounges....

It was obvious Ambank was in expansion mode, to grow their cc business....the last 2 years.....

Just like Maybank did years ago....

And now consolidating....they hope they have captured enough hnw customers and aim to keep them....hence separating out the priority banking signature cards from the Tom dick and Harry ones....

I didn't realize RHB has added TGM (KLIA2) to their list. Time to bring it along next time then.
*
It's been there for some time....used it since last year....

Actually, the RHB cards complement the Ambank cards...one purely for domestic/Msia and the other purely for international travels....

Also just found out hlb mach card allows 2 entries a year, if you spend 50k a year....not in the list in front...

What is good supporting card now the Ambank card is nerf?

If you can get the priority banking signature versions, it's still the best cards, free for life, unlimited entries into international ppls without conditions....and then get the RHB cards for local ppls.....also free for life....

SCB prority give that a run for the money.

It allows you far more lounges access around the world compared to Ambank's. Probably 1000 lounge vs 30?

Only issue is, you need to spend 10K per year to maintain. Not too difficult if you have life insurance etc to pay.
*
Wonder if they are using priority pass membership....

Have never banked with SCB....so not going to get any invitation for this "invitation only" card....lol

Loungekey is a subset of priority pass (same outfit) designed to accommodate cc holders....pp comes with a separate card, and anyone can buy into the scheme....

Loungekey is tied to your cc, no extra card needed....so similar with the banks arrangement with ppl....

Just heard that AmBank changed PPL access for its credit cards, from GenX GenY GenZ Facebook post:

" You are only allowed 5X Free Access regardless if you spend RM500 or RM10,000 every month with your AmBank World MasterCard or Visa Infinite (non Priority Signature version).

Worst, all AmBank Platinum credit cards are no longer allowed any FREE access to any airport lounge.

In addition to the above bad news, and to pissed off BIG time those who are in East Malaysia and Penang, your AmBank credit cards are will be useless at Penang, Kuching and Kota Kinabalu Plaza Premium Lounges too regardless if you have Priority Banking status or not!!! ""

https://www.facebook.com/GenXGenYGenZ/posts/1907120162661185

They even close Penang PPL access for all AmBank cards. Luckily have CIMB VI card, hopefully CIMB not closing the access for Penang PPL.  tongue.gif

The effect of the ambank decision is basically they close access to lounges on domestic travels....so you only have access on international flights....

The removal of kk and pen is puzzling....there are international lounges there too... should at least maintain that....

I think principal and supplementary cards no problem....the question is using a second card from the same bank with your name to bring a guest in....

RHB Premier CC for Premier clients seems to have good airport lounge and golf deals. Did I see it correctly that there's no catch?
*
Of course got catches....read carefully....

Limited international lounges range....max 10 entries if less than 100k/year....
