Guys,

Need a favor. I have an USG connected to a POE switch & a cloud key. I try multiple times to get it to work but didnt happen.

On the setup page, choose dhcp also doesnt work, pppoe also doesnt work.

Anybody can point me to the right direction? My data is bad at home so unable to scroll thru all prev pages here to study.

Thx for the prompt reply bro. Anyhow, my setup just now on the gateway setup screen, i chose PPPOE option, key in Unifi id & password. Save, then nada. Nothing. Error or something.

Connection was TM BTU > USG. Tested via dhcp by using the TM Router > USG. Also doesnt go to internet to proceed setup.

TM UniFi right? it has a vlan tagging.... its PPPoE on Vlan tagging.
You can refer to below. The principles is the same. Add vlan should be working.

Edge Router

I did read this earlier yesterday but unfortunately during the setup page only show this page:

So tried DHCP - Nada
Tried PPPOE - No option for VLAN tagging.

Hence the headace. Apologize - Newb in networking.

Appreciate the video bro, I'm gonna try this out next week as I can't configure the network on Thursday - Saturday.

Another question, since all the AP's is installed on the ceiling, & on the switch I saw it shows as "AP managed by others" - Is there any way that I can adopt it directly via GUI? Or do I need to reset it first?

Thanks thanks thanks

i think better for you just reset it. since its managed by others unless you know ssh username and password, then it will easier. but since latest controller, username and password for ssh is different from unifi controller username and password

I didn't check yesterday but I saw a FAQ on UBNT page that the POE injector have a reset button on the bottom to reset the AP; I'm gonna try that rather than climbing up the ladder to reset all the AP deployed. cry.gif

Guys,

Need some insight as I'm a real newbie in networking.

Anyhow, I bought 1 UBNT POE Switch and 3 unit of AP's to replace my workplace old Cisco AP. At the moment, the current config is:

Fortigate > Cisco POE Switch > AP

On the Cisco POE Switch, I saw VLAN 1 is for office network and VLAN 2 is for guest network; how do I do the same on UBNT switch?

Thank you so much. Hope get some insight from here.

Which UBNT switch? the US (white) or ES(black)?

If ES, just trunking do T,U on the switch port by GUI / CLI, its the same.
if US, you may need controller to manage it first, then you create vlan on network section(only vlan)

It's US Switch.

Now my config is:

Can't get any IP

its correct... mine is similar as yours...

That's it for the switch?

Means I need to configure the port on Fortigate to sent the VLAN over to the switch?

Now the fortigate port 7 is configure for Guest Access. So let say I want to use port 8 on fortigate, I need to config the port the same as port 7 in order to have VLAN 2 working on the swith?

Apologize, I'm damn confuse also on my question hahaha.

Does basic "Guest Isolation" setting on the UniFi switch good enough?

yes... guest isolation on unifi switch is good.. but fortigate even better since it is proper firewall...

if fortigate has been configured vlan, it should be fine, since unifi switch is trunking by default.
yes...

but if needed, let it give all vlan, then you do routing on switch and port isolatation.. should be fine... since anything after fortigate will be back to fortigate. laugh.gif

Boss, would it be possible for me to PM u my current config on Fortigate & UniFi Switch and could you point me to the right direction? As I'm scratching up till I can see bold spot already.

If it's not too inconvenience for you. biggrin.gif
