For about Rm1600 you can get the 10MP Canon Powershot G7 with DIGIC III and Image Stabilizer ... or what is you budget? Rm500 is also a budget, Rm5ooo is also a budget tongue.gif

Nolah ... the sensor haven't 'season' yet ... definitely abit sluggish. As for the kit lens, that is one part I dun understand about Canon : From the 300D using it all the way to the 30D today, still the same ol' lens ... sigh ...

thanks for your reply guys, sensor must season one ah? thats something new haha! anyway i hope it will be seasoned once i start filling my card up smile.gif yalor cheap ol kit lens from the past, anyway lets see how i could coax this cheap piece of plastic & glass to produce some nice shots..

I first held a 1973 Canon AT-1 in my hands when I was 14 and started using it about 3 years later, then a Canon EOS 88 during my Auto SLR film days, today I am still using a Canon, a 2001 model Canon EOS 1D. Thank you Canon for all these years! wub.gif

The 18-55mm is not sluggish at all, it saved my life when I had shoot a model posing on in a bathtub and later a shower cubicle during a photo session in a tight hotel bathroom! Anyway, the offer is good ... grab it now!

may i know that is Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM is good? heard from somebody that it is not good at all. The IS is not as reliable. I read a review said that if the IS is on and the lens is not shaken at all, the lens itself will produce its own shake, if im not mistaken it's called gyro shake or tripod shake, producing not sharp pics.. can anyone conform this?

and please if anyone have this lens, post a pic taken by this lens at maximum magnification with the IS on without tripod.. i wanna to take a look before buying it.

thanks in advance..

i love my canon!

It's a good lens if you want IS, it has 3 stop IS. The tripod shake you're talking about is when you mount it on the tripod. It doesnt have Mode 2 iinm. When you yourself hold the lens, i'm sure there's a bit of shake now and t hen.

This is has been reviewed as almost as good as the F4L but without the L quality.

Nobody in their sane mind would mount the lens onto the tripod with the IS switched on, the IS is for you to use when you handheld NOT when it's mounted onto a tripod, monopod or any stabiliazing matter, same goes with VR and any lenses with stabilizer function. The Canon Image Stabilizer is one of the most reliable in the market, the only one that competes with Nikon's Vibration Reduction.
