may i know that is Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM is good? heard from somebody that it is not good at all. The IS is not as reliable. I read a review said that if the IS is on and the lens is not shaken at all, the lens itself will produce its own shake, if im not mistaken it's called gyro shake or tripod shake, producing not sharp pics.. can anyone conform this?
and please if anyone have this lens, post a pic taken by this lens at maximum magnification with the IS on without tripod.. i wanna to take a look before buying it.
thanks in advance..
i love my canon!

QUOTE(ac98 @ Mar 24 2007, 02:03 AM) Nobody in their sane mind would mount the lens onto the tripod with the IS switched on, the IS is for you to use when you handheld NOT when it's mounted onto a tripod, monopod or any stabiliazing matter, same goes with VR and any lenses with stabilizer function. The Canon Image Stabilizer is one of the most reliable in the market, the only one that competes with Nikon's Vibration Reduction. thanks for the info. yeah, im not crazy enuff to mount it on the tripod while the IS is on so, thats mean im gonna grab it soon!! negotiating still in the process.. 2nd hand lens. hope it still in good condition.

QUOTE(nairud @ Mar 24 2007, 08:19 AM) the 70-300 IS has a batch of lens that when shot in vertical position, the pictures would turn out with insufficient resolution because there's a prob with the IS mechanism. Check it out properly. This phenomenon affects all EF 70-300 f/4-5.6 IS USM lenses with a "0" or "1" in the third digit of the (8 digit) serial number. Products that have a third digit of "2" or higher in their serial number are not affected. woo..dats very good info man.. never know it. i'll make sure the third no is not the 'binary no'.. but my instinct say dat this lens is not good.. so, i'll have my 2nd thinking. anyway, thanks everyone for helping me choosing the right one. everyone in my family are using canon because we trust it!! canon, delighting u always and always and always..
