Ohh.. Nobody visit any of them before that?

Just sharing my experience with Dr. Cecilia Wong last week.

11.00am: My appointment is 11am. When we reach her clinic, she is rushing to leave. Her nurse told us that she got delivery case, ask us to come back after 1.5 hours - 2 hours. We go to cafetaria at Assunta Hospital to have drink.

12.30pm: We return to clinic before 12.30pm, doctor is still not around.

1.15pm: If remember correctly, she is return at around 1.15pm. However, it's still not my turn yet.

1.50pm: I wait till 1.50pm when suppose is my turn. Again, doctor got delivery case, she has to leave. We are so hungry. However we afraid if doctor come back before we back from lunch. So my husband buy some breads to replace our lunch. Nurse told us that doctor is very busy, already 3 delivery cases.

2.45pm: Doctor is back at 2.45pm. Finally is my turn. She is very friendly and nice. She check my medical history and also explain in details for my questions, it spent about 35-40 minutes for the visit. Now I understand why each patient requires to wait for such long time.

3.45pm: We make payment at the express payment counter due to no any medicine required.

Total spent hours are 4 hours 45 minutes, almost 5 hours. Luckily I had apply full day leave. Anyway, doctor said can give MC slip if I want.
Overall, doctor is very nice and professional, just have to be prepared for the long hour queue.

1. wife just delivered last week. She's very friendly and talk a lot on how to bring up the child, what to notice and stuff. I guess coz she's considered young specialist compared to the old timers.
2. We started off with DrLiew. But sadly he doesn't do delivery starting this year due to insurance coverage issue (u can read more on this item on thestar, which affects a lot of senior gynae). He just monitor us until week 25 and then transfer us to DrCecilia. He's quite a knowledgeable Dr with experience I would say. Though he's not as friendly as DrCecilia
3. No experience

Our first child was delivered by DrTang from SDMC/SJMC, and feels DrLiew is of similar standard. Sort of senior Dr. Quite a pity they r not doing delivery due to insurances issue. But quite satisfied with DrCecilia nonetheless

I visited O&G specialists in Assunta Hospital Room 20 (Specialist Clinic A) with my wife for 2nd follow up appointment of pregnancy with Dr. Liew Fah Onn somewhere in mid of Feb 2017.

We are happy as everything was alright after the result of ultrasound screening regarding our baby.

However during consultation, Dr Liew Fah Onn has intimidate me and my wife after we asked him some questions and replied unsure answer to what he is asking.

He keep forcefully asking us to repeat what he has told us earlier. Eventhough I did reply him the correct answer base on my understanding, he blasted us like a boss scolding a staff who has done something very wrong.

Probably his mood is not good on that day as he`s been complaining on the nurse assisting him outside the room.

I don`t think a senior professional doctor like him should treat us like this neither we should receive treatment like this too!

In my point of view, i think he is not suitable to be a doctor at all! mad.gif vmad.gif ranting.gif

Hello Dennis,
My wife and I took consultation from Dr. Liew when we had our first child.
I agree he is not really friendly and tend to get agitated if you ask many questions.
I think he doesn't like explaining things when it is not required and is the type of doctor that wants you to follow his advise.
He will not tell much if your pregnancy is normal and only will inform you if there are abnormalities and give advice.
Overall still a very good doctor just lacking in terms of friendliness.

Hi ckseong80,

I do agree with your point as above.

Eventhough he is senior doctor with many years of experience, in my point of view as a medical professional he shouldn't intimidate us.

We are fine to hear and follow advises given by doctor, but not intimidation and scolding from them without any reason.

Besides that we are a patient/customer seeking and paying for medical advise/consultation which the cost not cheap and it`s not free too! Hence we don`t like to be treated this way vmad.gif

Since after this incident, we feel traumatized to visit him again on next appointment fear of being intimidate by him again.

Therefore now i have found another gynae introduced by friend which is also very experience and of course much more professional cool2.gif

Hi, just sharing my experience with Dr.Nicholas, Columbia PJ.

I had delivered on Feb 2017. And i started visit him since Oct 2016 (week20 of my pregnancy).

He is a very kind gynae. He check my medical history and explain my questions and curious. It spent about 30 minutes. And, he support on natural delivery unless you have any special case/emergency.

To me, most important, Columbia PJ do provide evening clinic and i could visit after my working hour on weekday. Instead of queuing on Saturday with other patients or taking leaves during weekdays for check up. And every visit, I only took 30mins-1hour.

Columbia PJ was quite new therefore their patients still not as pack as others. And you do not need to waste time on waiting your turns and so.

First of all, thanks for comments above as I just made a call to book my 1st appointment with Dr. Cecilia Wong coming Saturday. Well, I'm currently wk22 and you guys might make a guess why half way change doctor and it's not so advisable. The reason is I GOT NO CHOICE as my previous doctor (during recent last visit) told me I'm not recommended to delivery at Columbia Asia Puchong Hospital due to reason given, this hospital is not equipped with NICU facilities and might cannot handle my case. NICU is a unit care center for pre-mature babies that requires extensive care like oxygen box & etc as I understand.

Total I visited Dr. Ng Sxxx Pxxxx for 4 times and ever since 1st visit, my blood pressure (BP) reading is quite high when measured at his clinic. I'm taking my BP control medicines but my BP reading shoot up relatively high each time I visit him. I can't explain why my reading shoot up high whereas my reading at home was normal in the morning before went out. But Dr. Ng was not satisfied with my answer and kept saying it could be my machine problem and ask me to send my BP machine to do calibration. This is not true as I measure my husband's BP from time to time to make sure my machine is not faulty.

Dr. Ng , from the start already asked me go to register at Klinik Kesihatan (KK) and asked me to follow whatever they instructed me to and I followed his words. Then KK later also referred me to Putrajaya Hospital because my case is special to them. So all the while I follow up with 3 places - Columbia Asia Puchong Hospital, KK & also Putrajaya Hospital. Although I feel tired but I willing to sacrifice my time, money & effort just for my baby. The funny thing is Dr. Ng even asked me to see the Physician doctor next door of him to monitor my BP, change my medicine if needed. Of course I did not follow his word this time because currently I'm already follow up with 3 places and I don't want to add on my burden whether in time, effort or money. And he told he would never interfere the medicine that KK/ Putrajaya hospital prescribed to me. The most he can prescribe is calcium tablets & Obimin supplements.

Things went on until last 2 days I visited him, he throw me a question "so you will deliver at Putrajaya Hospital, correct?" My husband & I was stunt and a bit blank to react because we always wanted to do the delivery at his hospital and already mentioned to him last time. During the conversation, he again mentioned (in fact every single time) "in case you have pre-mature baby, government hospital fee is much more cheaper compared to private hospital". Frankly speaking, this sounds like cursing me and I a bit loosing my patience already and started to keep quiet. Then later on, my husband still actively & patiently asked him about the NICU charges at Columbia, then only he told there's no NICU at Columbia (I'm not sure about this is true or he made up his story) then asked us go to Sunway or SJMC hospital if we still prefer deliver at private hospital. Afterwards, the nurse handed me a card, some sort like medical record card that indicating my date of visit, weight & some other records and that's the end of my visiting with Dr. Ng.

Sorry for long writing!

smile.gif Conclusion smile.gif - If you are healthy and confirm you won't diagnosed any complications such as gestational diabetes, gestational hypertension, preeclampsia, eclampsia, suspect preterm labour or any other complications during your later stage of pregnancy, you can always go to Dr. Ng . Otherwise, you will experience what I have mentioned in the above writing. rclxub.gif doh.gif confused.gif

Add on:
1) One of my friend who saw Dr. Ng also got transferred to Putrajaya Hospital for abortion due to some issue last year (2016). See, another example! I only can blame myself for not thinking twice as Columbia Hospital was our 1st choice as we stay in Puchong.

Last but not least, Good luck to you all! Have a safe, smooth & healthy pregnancy!!! thumbup.gif

Quite a number of doctors these days prefer not to handle complicated case.
Were you feeling nervous when you visited the doctor? If you were it could be the reason your BP shot up as compared to the morning when you took the reading.
It is normal for BP to shoot up as soon to be mummies feel nervous about the baby's growth and have many "what if" popping in our mind.
The doctor should clarify this first and then try to ask you to calm down and retake the BP. Directly blaming calibration is not really right. Maybe the doctor wants to cut consultation short as many other patients are waiting.

It's long time not login lowyat seriously ever since then. Thanks for reply.
I was nervous (unknown reason, I googled it and I got to know this 'white coat hypertension'). Even went to KK/ Putrajaya Hospital my BP also spiked up but with down trending because the nurses/ doctors got re-measure me with different machine such as mercury type one. You know the long queue in those places, so when I measure 2nd reading was already 1 hr later or more. At Columbia, they just used the only machine to measure me. I told all these to Dr. Ng, he questioned me back "how sure do you think they measure your BP correctly?" He only trust the BP reading measured at his clinic, and never care if I got enough resting time to re-take 2nd reading. Since he mentioned the mercury method is the most accurate one but he never measure me with this, not even 1 time. Probably you're right, he throwing me the machine calibration question to cut short my consultation session. Just like his nurse handed me the medical record card to cut off my further appointment with them (which I never requested).

Further to this, during the 2nd visit, he asked to re-take blood test to confirm if my baby having down syndrome, it costs RM1800. I was freaked out when his nurse called me earlier because her explanation was not clear enough that suspected the 1st test result was not ideal. Then the next morning we rush to see him then only he explained the 1st test not showing any problem but advise me to do 2nd test to re-assure and it's up to us whether we need to proceed. At the end, we also decided to proceed to cut off the nightmares. Also, in week 18-22, he asked me go to see 3rd party doctor at PJ to do anatomy detailed scanning which costs me RM500.

All the above, he asked me do this, do that. I followed. Wasted my time, effort & money ..... at the end!!! I would rather he told me earlier so I still can have more time to find another gynae, not like now hanging half way, depressed and helpless!

The doctor we went to see told us that the down syndrome tests cannot be 100% accurate and ask if we want to take the test.
I think they are like 70% accurate only if I recall correctly.
So I think it is something the doctor should tell you because if it comes out positive you still have a big decision to make to keep the baby or not.
What if the test is wrong? We didn't take the test as it changes nothing but will make you feel worse if result is bad.

By the way, changing doctors mid way is OK.
My 2nd child we started with Dr Liew Fah Onn in Assunta then we changed to Dr. Cecilia in week 20+ because he doesn't do delivery anymore due to insurance cost.
So don't worry about this.
