Yeah but i never heard anyone complain about hisense, it has 2 years manufacturing warranty and you can extend to 3 years

I mean TV cannot last forever, many bought branded expensive Tv in this section also had their TV kaput after certain years. Does it make sense if we buy cheap tv and last for 3 years and we have a chance to change tv or buy expensive one last 5 years with twice the price?

My 2008 40" Sony Bravia lcd TV still perfectly fine, looks like new still. But my sister's 2009 32" Samsung lcd TV already having some problems since 2 years ago. Sometimes can on, sometimes cannot.

Btw hisense is decent. I heard this brand is well received in the western side of the world is it?

It has wifi and network RJ45port capabilities. Youtube and netflix are flawless. The remote control has dedicated buttons for youtube and netflix even. Havent tried other apps. (doesnt look like android).

Google Chromecast functionality is there, there is ARC HDMI port but i cant get it working to my pioneer HT ARC output. The HDMI cable im using already high speed type. I use Optical instead for the sound.

It cant read directly from my HDDs (all in ExFat format not sure if it reads NTFS), but it does detect my Kodi's movie, tv shows and music libraries on my hypptv and able to play them.

But all these smart functionalities are just redundant when you have hypptv box.

Yes, It is actually comparable in quality with all the established brands. Picture quality is very good. 2 years using with no complaint. However, I got a samsung 4K smart TV 48" 6000 series for RM2.3K from Sen Heng during opening. rclxms.gif rclxms.gif

Refresh Rates!

First of all, the mother of all misleading information is regarding 60hz, 120hz, 240hz, (and 600hz which is completely different, but I'll get back to that) etc. Almost everyone is universally suggesting get "atleast 120hz." This isn't entirely a great idea. First of all, 120hz and 240hz are not native refresh rates. In fact, they're not technically refresh rates. That's a simple way of saying that there are usually motion correction settings available to the viewer. These motion settings are awful for gaming and buying a 120hz TV will do nothing but give you input lag (among other issues like haloing) and worsen your gaming experience so long as you aren't privy to the fact that you can turn these options off.

Hisense said the sets will also be equipped with HDMI 2.0 and HDCP 2.2 compliant connectors with Hisense “premium” 4K Ultra HD up-conversion available through all inputs so that lower-resolution content coming into the TV is up-scaled to near 4K UHD resolution for presentation on the screen.

Just for future buyer reference lg-49UH600T do equipped with HDCP 2.2.

Connect my Nvidia Shield TV to the tv. Enable netflix streaming stats(press F8) and i get 2160 which is 4k.

Connect my CT770 which isnt equip with HDCP 2.2 to the other HDMI port. Netflix stats never go above 1080.

I think if u just use the WebOS/TV native netflix apps wont be a problem to get 4k. Just make sure if u use soundbar or home theater it must be hdcp2.2 compliance.

Hi,
my old Sharp 32" LCD TV bought in 2008 is showing signs of going to die. The edges are having white clouds, and it's getting worst by the day. I think soon the whole thing is going to turn white... cry.gif

I'm not a home theatre buff, not a 3D buff nor a smart TV buff either. I watch only Astro, I don't even have a working DVD player, all spoilt and dead already. tongue.gif

Can you guys recommend me a good TV, I guess my only criteria is a TV that sounds nice. I find crappy sounding TVs a big pet peeve mad.gif My old Sharp TV comes built in with mini subwoofer and tweeters, it sounds GOOOOOD as it is. No need sound bar and extra sub. thumbup.gif

Actually what's the biggest size that doesn't come with 3D and SmartTV function? I seem to see almost all big size TV comes with 3D. I tried googling for this, but just can't find the answer I want. So I'm here asking for your help.

Thanks in advance!

reporting Hisense 4K 50 inch 321UW does support HDCP 2.2, reference in UK website, hopefully UK spec and Msia spec are similar icon_idea.gif

As for me i always believe in SONY regarding to audio. Most basic TV without 3D and smart features are R350C model

I must stress the TV has 4K resolution, it's like having mac with retina and non retina display

Go compare plasma and 4K tv at harvey norman side by side. Pixels can easily spotted in the former.

In what definition the video you'll be displaying is secondary. If one wants pixel to pixel on 4K TV then one must either play 4K video on youtube, netflix or 4K video shot by your smartphone 4K camera or slideshow > 12MP images either from smartphone or dedicated camera like DLSR.

I've been told that if I buy a TV, any brand any model, we must buy extended warranty because there is a high chance the TV will spoil after it's 2 year manufacturer's warranty. Is this true? I'm looking at buying a Samsung 49" curved TV from a non chain electrical store that doesn't offer such extended warranty programs. The price offered is definitely cheaper than from chain stores like Senheng and HarveyNorman.

Those of you who have bought a new TV the last 2 years, does it really break down after 2 years?

It would be hard to get a 4K TV for below RM3k. If you are ok with FHD TVs, there's a lot to choose from. I've been told by stores that TVs these days don't last, it's better to buy additional 3 years extended warranty, all brands. I'm not sure if this is a scare tactic chain stores use to earn extra income from selling extended warranty.

For me if you're talking about picture quality, my personal liking is Samsung curved. Not my favourite brand, but looking at the picture quality on 1080 HD videos and normal astro HD channels, Samsung picture quality seems to appeal to me. Having said that, in comparison with other brand side by side, the difference is actually quite minuscule. You have to really look carefully to see some difference.

Personally I'm looking at buying Samsung's 49" Curved UHD 4K TV. Currently Senheng is offering it at RM3299.

Think upscalers these days are quite powerful. I made the sales guy test out 720P and 1080P videos or both FHD and 4K TVs, 2016 models. On 4K TVs it does look sharper. Perhaps older model TV upscalers aren't as good, and end up producing worst picture quality, but my recent test on latest models proved that it looks better on 4K.

My Sharp LCD 32" lasted me 8 years, now the screen is turning white.
Shops all tell me LCD TV's made 7-9 years ago all are much better quality but now a days new TVs with all the fantastic technologies in hardly can last 2 years. So be prepared to buy new TV 2 years later. Or buy extended warranty.

I think it falls back to what you mentioned in your first line .. LCDs made long time back were of better qualities then the ones coming out now. Same like other things, simple things like bricks. Go to an old brick house and try to smash it, its hard and solid. Try with the bricks you see made for homes now, like wanna vomit but it does the job.

That was 9 years ago. 9 years ago still remember how much you bought your 32" LG LCD?

Mine LG 32" also lasted for almost 8 years now.

But the new one that you buy today. None of them can really last long.

HDR is just a premium option since not many contents are encoded yet.

However contents with hdr and wcg are a lot better than just normal 4k

Friends,
I've narrowed my choice to 2, both are Samsung. I don't know why, some how I'm more attracted to Samsung picture quality. Hope I'm not making a fatal mistake rclxub.gif

Both same price but from different stores:-

#1. Samsung KU6000
RM2999 includes 4 years extended warranty under CSH (included in the price already)
UHD TV 2016 model.
Normal price RM3299.

#2. Samsung JS7200
RM2799 no extended warranty under Aeon. Just the manufacturer's 2 years warranty.
SUHD TV 2015 model.
Normal price RM4399.

I'm having a hard time to decide coz:-
#1 is cheaper built (lots of plastic, looks like a budget TV), and generally lower specs compared to #2 BUT CSH offers extended 4 years warranty and it's this year's model.
#2 is much better built (visually stunning, looks highend), although it's 2015 model it is 1 range higher (Samsung 7 series), it out performs #1 in every aspect BUT no option to buy extended warranty. Only get 2 years and if it spoils after that,... good luck to me.

Looks like I am pressed to choose between "peace of mind and live with lower spec model" or "take risk with 2 years warranty and have one of the best performing TV spec (only lose to 8 series and 9 series)". sweat.gif

I would appreciate very much your opinion to help me choose. notworthy.gif

I did not research about Hisense at all, but I can say Samsung KU6000 is a very capable TV. If you trust my judgement, KU6000 outpeforms KU6300 in the motion judder dept. KU6000 has slightly poorer picture quality than KU6300, only noticeable if you see both side by side. But motion is definitely much smoother than KU6300, if you see both TVs side by side.

KU6000 doesn't have bluetooth, KU6300 has bluetooth. Don't know why Samsung excluded that a for this model. Seems like a stupid decision by Samsung.

My opinion: Motion judder gets irritating for me and bluetooth is not fatal for me, I can live without my TV having bluetooth capabilities. I would pick the KU6000 over the KU6300.

If you can, find a store that has both Hisense and Samsung KU6000 side by side. Ask them to switch on the movie mode. Then you observe both TVs for motion judder.

What an easy decision. Go for the 7 series. So u will have a higher performance and a better looking tv that is for sure.

About the warranty... well u won't know if the tv will last for 4 years. If it wont last past 2 years u get to claim warranty. If it lasted 3 years plus then ull just lose a few months. And there are chances that it will last past 4 years too. Why u worry so much about it? Go for 7 series u might get a double win. Better tv and last longer. But go for 6 series at best u get a draw. Last longer but less better tv. Or might even get a double lost. Less better tv and ended up series 7 last longer

If you have a Citibank Platinum/Prestige card:

QUOTE
As a Citi Prestige Cardmember, you'll get an extended warranty on selected products purchased in Malaysia costing RM2,500 per item or less and not exceeding RM5,000 per occurrence, once the original manufacturer's warranty expires. The total coverage period will be the same as the original manufacturer's warranty, up to a maximum of 24 months

So it will be 2 + 2 years of warranty.

Hmm. My personal thought will b 1st model. because it got the HDR which help u see better on dark image. That's the new selling point for the current 4k market.

I'm taking a long time to decide, but I think that's working in my favour coz prices keep dropping every where. icon_rolleyes.gif Also as I take more time to do my research and reading up plus visiting shops and asking them to demo various TV models. I've learnt a lot. I found that it's really so much more complicated these days to buy a TV. 8 years ago just buy which brand you like as long as fits your budget.
Now, so many things to consider:

FHD or UHD 4K
Curved or Flat
HDR or non HDR
Edge lit LED or Direct LED
Local dimming or no local dimming
Nanocrystal or whatever that is
Wider colour gamut thingy
Motion interpolation 50hz, 100hz, 200hz, 400hz, 800hz
LED motion

Really headache rclxub.gif

So to avoid all the headache and confusion, I asked myself what do I want my TV to do. For me I watch only Astro, and I want my Sports and Action to be smooth and free of motion blurr. I don't watch any UHD content, thus don't need UHD with HDR coz Astro doesn't have UHD and definitely no HDR encoded. Why pay for a feature that I don't use, right?

Went back to the stores and asked them which TV is the best for smooth sports and action? They said Sony is the best. I went online and did my homework, reviews also confirmed that Sony does well in eliminating motion blurs. I also found Sony TV's that doesn't come with Motionflow XR800 still has motion blurr and judders. So it's not ALL Sony TVs.

I think I've finally made up my mind, I'll go for the FHD Sony W800C coz it's comes with native 100hz refresh rate and the Motionflow XR800. It handles motion beautifully. I also checked out Panasonic DS630D which is 100hz native refresh rate and 400hz motion processing I can still see lots of motion blurr and judders. I also checked out Samsung KU6000, has a native refresh rate of 100hz and 200hz clearmotion, although a UHD TV it doesn't eliminate motion blurr, it has less judders though. Comparatively still lose to Sony W800C. Looks like I have a winner.

Let me know if I've missed something or I'm on the wrong track. notworthy.gif

Please help me.. Between Hisense 50K3300UW and LG 49UH610V, which one is better in term of picture quality?

Both price is around RM2000 at 11street, and I am planning to buy with extended warranty to add another 3 years to make it total of 5 years warranty.

Is it true that Hisense tv's sound quite "pecah-pecah"?

But, LG's TV only have 3 hdmi port. Hisense got 4 hdmi.

But, LG's TV only have 3 hdmi port. Hisense got 4 hdmi.
*
Depends what is your priority. I also don't like sound pecah-pecah one. mad.gif

HDMI ports, depends on how many source you have. For me I only have 2 source, Astro and Wii.

Sound pecah-pecah is very easy to check, go to the shop, ask for their remote control. Tekan volume+ until reach max. If pecah,... you got your answer 'ready. That's what I did with Sony W800C ... ask the sales guy kasi max volume .... tak pecah rclxms.gif

Just a bit of technical input on sound, normally... sound pecah means only 2 things:
1. Speaker rosak, surrounds cracked already
2. Amplifier under powered, when volume is higher than amplifier can output, the amp will clip resulting in pecah sound. In the long run speakers burn.

hisense is at least top 5 brand in china. TV i believe is one of their strong product.
they sponsor euro 2016, F1 (from what i heard not anyone can simply get to sponsor these big games even u have the financial power).
they're throwing a lot of money in marketing and building up market share in msia. thus their price is very competitive. i have not heard of bad quality on their TV so far, and it comes with manufacturer's warranty anyway. samsung is a global brand, their phone also got problem.
i won't hesitate to consider hisense TV if i need one in future.
my 2 cents

Source material probably...really turn off

But it's Hisense TV advertisement. Could it be their source is subpar? Bad bad marketing strategy 😅

I'm really particular on the picture quality...even when my whole house said picture looks same, for me good quality HDMI cable brings out better picture from same source. Minor maybe, but according to my eye it's a big jump...
Those who are using Sony HDMI cable should know, I think

55 Inch 3D Smart TVs, 4K UHD, Smart TV

So far so good, happy with the picture quality. Takes a while to start up, about 30 seconds. Also like the look of the stand, clean and modern.

Myself and my bro in-law uses Hisense with no issues so far except for the painfully slow startup of the Smart TV models..because it has android loading together..I would prefer the non-smart tv version and buy a separate android/apple tv/Roku/Fire TV..and have the option to upgrade when it's outdated instead of having to change the TV (for smart tv model) smile.gif

No wonder...30 seconds is kinda like forever in this age 😅

Are the Sony, Sharp android models also slow startup?

Tumpang thread...

I am looking for sub-2K 40" to 50" FHD/4K (although not really needed) for PS4 gaming. Lower the input lag the better and cheaper (of course), but basically I am looking for that middle line, if you know what I mean? I have 5 years old plus Plasma which is still good but showing signs of dying, and not to mention plasma's power consumption.

Any recommendations?

That seems decent.

Just got Hisense 55K3300UW for RM2300 at Desa Home Theatre... Earlier, I was psyched up to walk in to the store & get an LG 49 UHD...I took Hisense in the end.. LG has Smooth Motion that can't be turned off..a lot of judder when watching movies and normal programmes... No complaints so far on the Hisense..Great Pic & sound.. But like everyone's else comments, startup is a bit slow.

Yup. warranty is 2 years. I did not opt for the extended warranty...It comes with upscaling to 4k. The image is pretty good for 1080 sources. For SD, you need to turn off Noise Reduction for the best image possible. Overall, I have no regrets with the TV..I chose this model due to my budget.Hope this helps

Should be the other way around...

4K is supposed to mean clearer and sharper pictures so that you can sit nearer (or bigger in size)...

yup.. at display shop there... k3300 price just RM100 differ....side to side eye view.. I ask the shop assistant for default setting both TV.. in the end I bought the K321 due more vivid color display...both also at that time only have display unit... the K3300 is newer model than K321..

Less than a year the LED panel KO ed.
Luckily was still under warranty (4 years) so I litterally got a new tv.....cos they replaced the led screen panel which is 90% of the tv for free.

Found one in Gemfive for around RM1.7 plus for the 50 Inch model, after applying the CIMB code. So I tot its quite a bargain.

Just my concerns are whether the TV is HDR ready or need some firmware installation? Quite a few problems identifiable from this forum http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/2540051 but what strikes me as the most important was the HDR capability.

Noted from the discussion it TV needs to be flashed with a new firmware to get it HDR enable. Other than that, comments said the TV is awesome!

My TV just arrived, surprisingly GDex work on Saturday, and sent up straight to my apartment.
Hey Chokia, may I know who was the seller for your TV set.
I have my eyes set on something similar as well:
http://www.11street.my/product/ProductDeta...?prdNo=37733914

Was it 11Store as well or some other seller?

It's now 60 bucks cheaper what I paid for initially. Anyway I finally got the TV and I'm quite surprised to see how big this thing is. When I saw it in the shops it was pretty small compared to the 65" TV sets beside it. Got a question about the built in Youtube app. Is it possible to get 60FPS playback with it. I've tried a few DigitalFoundry videos and the it was just standard 30 FPS. But when I connected my laptop through HDMI and played youtube clips from there, I was able to get 60FPS playback. Wondering if this is a drawback from the app itself. As for 4K content, I've yet to try it because I don't have it and my laptop is limited 1080p output. Probably will need to drag my desktop to the hall to test it out. Have you managed to try out 4K content?

Would you mind testing MYTV digital signal with your UHF aerial ? The TV has built in DVB-T2 tuner. (just auto scan tv, it will automatically tune analog and digital channel)

I cant test it coz i dont have UHF aerial

Will get back to you on that. I kinda misplaced the cable.. sweat.gif
I tried getting it at Harvey Norman and they said they don't sell it. shocking.gif

EDIT: Managed to get an aerial coax cable for 8Bucks. I could only get the standard analog channels. I don't think this unit is fitted with a DVB-T2 tuner.
I found this sticker in my manual:

Yeah but i never heard anyone complain about hisense, it has 2 years manufacturing warranty and you can extend to 3 years

I mean TV cannot last forever, many bought branded expensive Tv in this section also had their TV kaput after certain years. Does it make sense if we buy cheap tv and last for 3 years and we have a chance to change tv or buy expensive one last 5 years with twice the price?
*
I never have a TV kaput on me. 1 Sharp LCD still goimg strong...maybe 9 years. Old SONY CRT also never breaks down.

Another Sharp LCD maybe 6 years.

Thought I drop my review here.

CONs
-Does not save the time settings after powering off, probably because there’s no CMOS battery built in
-No HDMI/Video cables, only has power cable included
-Slightly inferior build quality, the right hand holder where you put the TV stand is a lose
-USB movies which are not 16:9 aspect ratio are stretched to fit the screen and there is no option to disable this function
-No HDR or DVB-T2
-Hisense Android TV APP does not work with my Samsung Note 2(V-remote Works though)
-Built in Youtube APP does not support 60FPS or 4K
-mediocre downward firing speakers
-Firmware stuck on version V00.01.00a.F0510 which is supposedly from May 2015. Most of the bugs mention here like, USB movie aspect ratio, Youtube 60FPS and 4K video are fixed in the most recent firmware(V00.01.00a. G0706).

PROs
-Built in YouTube and NetFlix app
-Able to cast YouTube on the TV while you are free to use you phone for other functions
-Wireless connectivity
-comes with TEDTV and YUPPTV(tamil channels for just RM10 monthly)
-ample HDMI ports(4 in total) and component video which is perfect for my Wii
-Built in media player allows simple USB movie playback
-USB 3.0 support
-TV bezel is not distracting, minimalistic design
-4K for less than RM2K

Hope this is useful for someone considering to purchase this:
http://www.11street.my/productdetail/hisen...n=criteo_web_lf

Seller is quite smart, he creates a new page for the same model. Effectively wipes out all the old reviews and keeps his seller rating high.

Although it's China model that sticker probably placed by their local office here. What it probably means is this model sold here does not have Dvb-t2 tuner built in.

At this price this panel is probably only 8 bit. Hdr10 require 10 bit colour so although the latest fw enable hdr, you wont actually get the full colour range displayed.

However you still might get better colours playing hdr videos compared to sdr content.

I don't know how to differentiate 8bit and 10bit panel, but with HDR enabled, the color is impressive to me vs SDR.
I guess is good enough with this price range tv.Attached Image

Nope. Kept saying no new firmware found. Tried changing locations as well, no go.
Also noticed the built in youtube app is stuck at 720p. No option to change to 1080p.

EDIT:
I never thought that someone at Hisense Malaysia would actually reply my email in regards to the Firmware update.
Unfortunately it was bad news. The 50K321UW here doesn't have any update yet at the moment. Only the Euro version's do. I presume the reason why they don't release that version here is because it comes baked with BBC iPlayer and other Euro centric applications.

Also they have reduced the 50K3300 here. The extras are quad core and HDR:

My 50" Hisense 4K smart TV (should be 3300 model) support Digital channel (DVB-T2).
Do ignore manual label as I read it mean "DVB-T broadcast is not available in Malaysia" NOT "DVB-T tuner not available at Malaysia model"

J5200 is a very old model but still many of them on sales. Lazada has it on sales for around RM1300.

One of the cheapest smart TV for 40 inch.

Btw, this does not fit the title of this thread. The title of this thread is about 50 inch 4k TVs.

50 in 4k TVs for about Rm2000 :-

1. Hisense
2. Sharp.
3. LG.

Samsung does not have such price

Don't think it's a smart tv based:
https://toshibatv-ap.com/my/en/models/49u7650/

However, if you are willing to spare less than 200 ringgit for a chromecast(to turn into a cheap smartTV), then I think you should go for it.

Not sure if it is a different model but if you check the spec for the model ends with VM, ie 49u7650vm, it is said to have wlan and lan.

I don't this model in their product offering, but I saw that they got promo for it now with a free soundbar at 2.6k... Wonder how EX400 compared to EX600?

Prices are always cheaper in Lazada and 11street than from manufacturer. The bundle is sold at rm 23xx or rm22xx at those sites.

What's the point buy 4K TV but to view FHD content?

Be it DTV, Astro, which commercial TV programme in Malaysia aired in 4K resolution?
Unless you watch UHD content, or else i'm sure you will regret to view anything not in its native resolution, LCD is well known for its poor interpolation performance.

Think twice, i know it is dirt cheap now.

But seriously the difference is discernable. Go to harvey norman see these TVs displaying the same content side by side.

people who bothered to buy 4K TV normally who watch additional content other than Free to Air, Astro/Njoi or Hyypt TV.. either YouTube,Netflix and other streaming provider or movie via external storage... then if u ask me.. maybe I will feel bad if watching SD(FTA channel,Asto SD) but when switch to fullHD content...the quality video still there.. when switch to 4K..I will be smile as I watch the entire episode/movie...

*
My 2008 40" still good S400
My 2009 40" still good NX720
My 2015 55" still good HX955

All of it almost on 20hours per day. Now looking for 65"

This is a test of the 'upscale' capability of the player/the TV.

Not all upscaler are the same, some do better job then the others. If done correctly, full hd content when played back on 4k TV, it looks better than playback on native resolution, ie the upscaler can 'fake' the 4K content to make it nicer.

Seller is quite smart, he creates a new page for the same model. Effectively wipes out all the old reviews and keeps his seller rating high.

Hi buddy. Just noticed your post. Nope, no playstore as it's running on Opera.
I tested out Plex and it looks like it suffers from the same stretching issue when playing back using USB.
Still no update as well cry.gif

haha too late, I bought 55" for my bedroom at Rm1999. TBM selling 3K+ for the same model. Quite a steal i would say.

Pros
Black is so so, color is vibrant, speaker is not too bad. Netflix ,youtube, plex work flawlessly streaming 4K like a champ. HDR playback from USB (8-bit panel only tho). Good build quality with metal look like body and metal stand.

Cons
Opera appstore is lacking, anything that you need wont be here...viewing angle is just shit. Interface is quite basic, I think got issue with dimming(cant really say, I don't use the TV much). A little bit slow on the startup.

So for a budget TV this is really a steal assuming it wont break down in 2-3years time.

I consider buying LG 630T before but after i went to shop and see the build quality is just bad, bulky as hell, all plastic materials, NOT too sure about this one tho,I heard LG 630T HDR is gimmicky not up to standard.

Yep K3300UW at RM2k@11street from desa home. HDR is active, but only from USB playback which i dont use at all. No NETFLIX HDR or HDMI HDR. Read from avforums that people flashing this model to french firmware and enable them to use HDMI 3 & 4 with HDR enable. Might try it myself ltr but for now I only use netflix on the tv. No HDR on PLEX either ( not sure if plex ever support hdr)

Guys out there, if you buy hisense, don't worry much about warranty after 2 years.
The parts is very easy find in China market and is very cheap !!!
Now every TV is very very easy to trouble shoot because they make it simple.
Normally there is 3 major board which is power board, logic board , T-con. You can roughly guess which board to change when it have problem.

Once you buy 4K TV then you will known 1080p or even 720p content is sharper and clearer and nicer in 4K TV than Full HD TV.

So far legal Netflix and Amazon Prime already in 4K and some HDR content.

Nonsense.

Gve me a proof and source of reading material for what you said.
If not it is just your own placebo effect that doesn't have any standpoint at all.

No matter how good the upscaler, the image will look slightly softer than play in its native resolution, this is a fact and limitation of LCD technology.

Not everyone watch video from Netflix and Amazon, how about those who watch Astro?

I'm not going to oppose everyone to buy full HD TV rather than 4K since manufacturer made us no choice by categorise full HD TV as low spec TV nowdays with trimmed functionality, but it doesn't make the fact of ugly to become beautiful.

I personally own a 60" full HD TV and hell no i will upgrade to 4K TV unless my current TV is dead and left me no choice.

4K and HDR still need more time to become a widely adopted resolution, and clearly is not now.

You are talking nonsense also. Plenty video also showing 1080p is playing very well like native in 2160p monitor.

At first I also not believe as I am IT guy.

So I get myself 4K TV in worried it may worst than watching 1080p or 720p source but out my suprise it did far better. I am so release when I notice how great they are.

My house got a 40" 1080p TV and now a 43" 4K TV. I know the differences on it and I am using 4K Upscaling UHD Blu-ray player and very well known how the output when playing normal Bluray movie and also how it behave on Digital TV channel which only 1080i.

If you not believe is your issue, I no need to find article or video to proof you. You may continue have own though as I ain't loose any but only yourself. I am enjoying every second since I own the 4K TV. smile.gif

Now 4K price is so cheap. Buying Full HD is not a wide choice.

4K and HDR still need more time to become a widely adopted resolution, and clearly is not now.

says from the person who doesn't own 4K TV? hmm.gif doesn't seem right smile.gif

4K content widely available(streaming services & bluray) ... once ppl buy 4K TV for sure they will find way to find 4K content and once u used to watch in 4K as native viewing pleasure...for sure u will find(buy/download) more content..

Okay, I noticed last week the Youtube app on my Hisense TV actually give me option for resolutions. I need to dig in abit, need to go to the "more options" settings then there's a HD option. Pressing that beings a menu with all res options. Sadly mine only shows 720p. No 1080p and 60fps function. I wonder if this is because they updated the app.
"heliozguard" and "-oc-gassa" can you guys try taking a picture of your Youtube app with the HD settings.
Perhaps with this video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b_H8v5MxGwc
You can find it on the digital Foundry site.
Also did you try to go to the software auto update menu and is your time saved after turning off the tv?

Also I'm currently considering selling off my current TV to my sis and getting this:

They are not of the same range , mu6300 seems to be the curved version of mu6100.
While the specs of Mu6100 / 6300 are competing with x7000e , which are on the entry level of 4K HDR tv

From Rting's website :

QUOTE
Samsung MU6300 VS X8000e
The MU6300 is an entry level 4k TV from Samsung. It's a bit better in a dark room, but picture quality degrades rapidly at an angle. It doesn't have some of the HDR-related features found on the X800E, but the contrast ratio is a big difference. Especially since it is quite a bit cheaper, most people will be better off with the MU6300.

Thanks for replying. I've been reading so many reviews and that hasn't helped, instead its making it harder to choose. Like within the mu6300 range there's always something wrong for movie viewing

If you are choosing between mu6300 and x8000e , go for the mu6300 (or 6100 if you don't want the curved series )

Reviews are always nitpicky and criticizing on something , because that's what reviewers do .
And display screen reviewers have to be extra harsh if they want to show you the difference .

Many of what they talked about are actually not so noticeable for a regular person who just want to buy a 4K tv and enjoy themselves .

The only thing x8000e has over mu6300 is X8000e has supports for wide color gamut and very slightly HDR improvement .
The rest of the technical reviews from x8000e are not good at all and especially the piss poor contrast level because it uses an IPS Panel.

Or you may consider Samsung new 2018 model UA58NU7103KXXM at RM3499

7 series, seems to be VA panel as there are long black trails when i gently run my finger across the screen.

The color look natural like Sony.

the NU 7 series is meant to be the successor of last year's MU 6 series , except this year they have 3 models .

The nu 7100 , the nu 7300 * < curved version of 7100 > and 7400 ( identical to 7100 but packed with wide color gamut )

So far the general picture quality performance of 7100 is worse than last year's 6 series . ( slightly worse brightness and contrast )

I would suggest to avoid China Brands ( like Skyworth , Haier etc etc ) if you are looking for durability and Picture Quality performance , there are barely any reviews around but when I checked them out in the store , the HAIER TV series seem to have strange artifact when showing 4k stuff

Thought I post my review of Hisense 50N3000UW here, since I found nothing over the internet.

Pros:
-50" 4K HDR for less than RM1600
-Has DVB-T2 built in(though I've yet to test it because everywhere I go, the wall to TV antenna cable is sold out)
-Only has 4 Apps preloaded instead of multiple useless apps(still using Opera)
-USB playback now doesn't stretch video like the previous models
-has 3x HDMI ports and 2x USB ports
-supports Dolby Digital Plus and HDR

Cons:
-only has USB2.0 ports
-HDMI is only 1.4, however in the user manual it says 4K 60FPS is supported. Need to hook up my PC to confirm this
-There were some noticeable slow down on one of the 4K video playback(Shanghai 4K), I suspect this is due to the bandwidth limitation of USB2.0

Hi everyone, I'm actually looking around for a 55-inch 4K TV with HDR, preferably within the RM2K to 2.5K range. Personally skeptical of the china brands but the TCL brand has certainly got my curiosity piqued.

I have two questions:

1. Is there a good time to buy TVs at a discounted price? Like, is there a mid-year sale or perhaps only end of the year?

2. Has anyone heard / used A&S brand TVs before? If so, are they any good in terms of the TV quality and also customer support? Looks like their TVs are rather affordable but can't find much information about them online.
