Aftermarket. I did check with Subaru Puchong when i did my last service and asked them to adjust, their reply was cannot adjust.

Coz ur fitting aftermarket stuff SC wont touch, if car still got warranty any adjustment to the wiper will void the warranty.
The problem now is you use non original wiper, smart owners usually find same design wiper or just replace the center rubber part.

Bro, same design good enough.
Where is your original wipers? See the design and compare with online shopping platform like Shopee/Lazada. Subaru usually use Japanese brands like Denso/NWB/Aisin for wiper, if you smart enought some local brand also come with similar design just different wiper rubber material (Most upgrade to silicon already)

Just go few branch and survey, all got their own budget if the branch and sales person is desperate for sales they might offer even more discount.
Take at least 2~3 quotation from different branch.

https://www.subaru.asia/my/en/how-to-buy/showroom-locations/

After purchase any authorized SC will accept your car for servicing if you book early your schedule, so no need to worry about it.

Hi all,

recently been looking to get a secondhand car. Came across Subaru XV 2016 and 2017 models. Quite keen to get it but want to know from user perspective. Is there any major issues for these 2 models?

Any 2nd hand cars please get a reputable Subaru mechanic to check & advice before purchasing it.
If the previous owner is good, the previous weakness like rear wheel bearing fast wear out can be fixed with updated backing plate.
The rest are normal wear & tear like replacing lower arm bush, leaking top valve cover gasket, re-RTV timing chain cover, radiator & rubber hose service/replacement.

Worse scenario, flood or accident car. (Need good experience mechanic to check)
Gearbox body valve (solenoid) issue, engine overheated before, high engine oil consumption, coolant mix with oil, fail modify project from previous owner (this really headache if not done well by previous mechanic) All these issue cost a lot of $$$ to fix and some owners might just give up and quickly sell in market. Usually a good, experience mechanic can pinpoint it and advise you to avoid.

Thank you for the inputs! The dealer let me bring to my mechanic to check and looks all solid. No issues other than aircond compressor making noise and the battery needs replacement. Now waiting for loan approval hehe.

Aircond compressor just ask A/C shop to flush and replenish with PAG100 compressor oil.
Most of the time is due to long time no service and or low gas.
If low gas check for cooling coil leaking & replace o-rings.

Hi Subarian,

My 2015 XV1’s power steering pump is leaking, only done 90k+ km mileage. After checked with SBR and Subaru SC, the original part and labour cost almost RM3k 😬

Found new OEM part from Japan at about RM500+, any one replaced their power steering pump? Mind to share your opinion?

Btw, other parts like…oil level sensor is leaking, lower arm bush start cracks, rear axel bush also cracked… time to start changing more parts… or maybe change car 🤔

Thanks.

No, my mechanic just tell me buy service/repair kit in shoppee/lazada, he help me to refurbish both the steering rack & pump using shoppee/lazada service/repair kit. Lasted way over 2 years now, only the steering rack leak a bit lately but still acceptable since it is cheap fix. thumbsup.gif

Oil level sensor behind got O-Ring <- i just change that also cheap fix (Some mechanic might try to push you to change the whole sensor, my mechanic got encouter 1 case is the sensor seems melted, for him if condition really bad only change whole)
Lower arm & rear axel bush <- Bought OEM Thailand from Sommet Auto, also lasted way over 2 years now cheaper than original a lot.

This really depends on weather you & your mechanic willing to help and understand the risk, i understand that sometime cheap might not last long but at least most of my gamble/expectation manage to pass thru.

Regarding the O-Ring, sensor, bush all i also bought from Sommet Auto, just google the shop name and call them to quote you. They can ship whole Malaysia.

Thanks for the info.

Found the power steering pump repair kit at RM99 in shoppe, I will give a try... if my mechanic willing to help to change it.

Start looking for alternative of repairing old parts, as the car is getting old now, can't afford to send to Subaru SC or SBR specialist for all the repairs, which is too costly blush.gif

FYI, there is a catch for the steering pump repair/service. If the oil leak is behind one of the sensor, may use gasket gum to fix.

Hello all Subaru taikor, check with you. My 2015 XV with 200k km starting to have minor vibration during idling. My feelings is suspecting engine mounting maybe starting to be bad. Is it reasonable at 200k ?

Minor vibration during idling is normal, parts to check spark plug condition and any oil leak around the area (change spark plug, valve cover seal), trottle body & air filter condition (Clean & change if found dirty), Injector cleaning? (buy 1 fuel addictive to try) & also PCV valve (clean or replace)

Original boxer engine mountings last very long time at least 2X normal inline engine due to less vibration, mine Xv already 250k still original i got 1 salesman friend which sold his XV not long ago meter got 300k above still original mountings.
