hi subaruian,

just received my 2015 xv sport last month, was eyeing the forester... too bad no extra $ to moneyflies.gif moneyflies.gif moneyflies.gif

here are some feedback:

- the driver side power window 'one push/pull' do not work, have to hold on pushing or pulling. one forumer said there are 2 steps of push/pull, tried but didn't work as well icon_question.gif

- found the ">>" led signal light inside the side wings mirror a bit annoying and distracting (initially, i felt very cool cool2.gif )

- heard a popping sound once, like some forumer mentioned, but not sure what caused and where the sound come from hmm.gif

- just finished first full tank of petrol, only achieved 330km for 50 lit of ron95... 15.15 lit for 100km rclxub.gif (100% city drive, short distance, car waiting with engine/air-con on), second tank (50 lit) should be able to get 400-450km

- original tinting no very effective, a bit hot during hot day, lucky the air-con is good tongue.gif

overall, i think the car is fine for a brand new 4X4 boxer engine suv with discounted price icon_rolleyes.gif

btw, the car comes with one year Motorimage Metasat service, quite useful but i find the Driver Card dongle a bit too big, not sure will subscribe the service next year... heard the service cost rm400-500 a year.

thanks!

You sure yours is 2015 XV sport? I got one 2015 XV sport few months back but mine doesn't have those >> LED indicator like what in the Forester.
*
Yes, mine one is 2015 xv sport. Like the picture below, the led is orange colour, not blue colour.

My side mirror only gained the auto up and down function after first service
Before service i pull hard hard also no auto up
I never even mention during service and they fix it themselves
*
Thanks for the info! Will ask SC, once my xv hit 1,000km service.

Clearing stock model, some later batch have.. depending on your luck.. But you can get it in daobao or ebay.. Below RM300 can get it..
*
Personally, i prefer without the led signal in the side mirror, find it a bit of distracting.

Actually, i don't mind...NO reverse camera, navigator, touch screen lcd kenwood player, auto cruise, steering wheel buttons control, paddle shift, motorimage metasat tracking, leather seat, sport rim... exchange with MORE air bags or other safety features... btw, since my car was a clearing stock model... no complaint lah...hahaha...

Yup, depending on what you want.. Cusco is also a good option.. But you do get the STI brand & engineering expertise..  brows.gif

For me it is a great investment for long term, tested Cusco strut bar before in my old car i can say it is better compare to local made..

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0r8xW03PVow&feature=youtu.be

http://www.iwsti.com/forums/2015-sti-discu...er-brace-2.html

The STI Flexible Strut Tower Brace was developed in our search for optimum balance. Out on the road, cars are subjected to forces from every conceivable direction, all of which have a profound impact on the car's performance and interior comfort. The STI Flexible Strut Tower Brace was designed with the aim of controlling these forces to maximize performance. The Tower Bar itself features a unique layout, divided into separate left and right sections and connected by link balls, which serves to suppress any lateral movement, while offering flexibility in the longitudinal direction. Settings have been tightened where needed, and loosened in other areas to achieve superb handling and straight-line performance, and at the same time outstanding ride comfort. The full potential of the original model has been extracted without affecting its balance. This is the ideal platform that STI believes is required for a sports car.
*
Looks good to have it thumbsup.gif but find the price of RM1,300 is a bit expensive, any one bought Magnesium Alloy Strut Bay from http://www.ae.net.my/xvaccessories.html ?

When I book the xv in June, I was told there were 3 types of 2014/2015 xv, all of them selling the same price:
1) sti version
2) sport
3) sport R

The sport R version fitted with original sti strut bay for free, some lucky buyers get it smile.gif

Had this installed last week at MIJB. The difference wasn't day and night. During turning and cornering, I noticed the steering input accuracy has improved. The steering stayed firm along corners instead of needing to fine tune (no more left right left right). Cusco is also considered flexible strut bar right while UR is fixed.
*
Thanks for the feedback, hope MI gives year-end offer (50% or more) for this strut bay and I am saving some $ for this smile.gif

Haha. Lucky or not, I had to pay a premium price for my XV. Bought at RM135K (a miserly RM2K discount) and I was made to wait until early April before they released my XV to me in order to coincide with the launch timing. The car now selling with RM15K discount!
*
Didn't you consider the Forester for your budget?

QUOTE(littlefire @ Aug 15 2016, 11:26 PM)
Got 2 Subaru in my family now.. XV and latest Forester 2.0i-P..

Have been a fan of boxer engine, since my father's 1971 VW beetle..  brows.gif
*
Wow! Two Subaru at home. You have both of them installed with original strut bay?

Forester was my 1st choice of Subaru, was eyeing for the basic model of Forester at rm123k, too bad...no $ for it, thus, opted a 2015 XV instead.

The XV only got the original strut bar..

If you are a family man, forester is good to go... Even the base model without all the fancy accesories you still get 7 air-bags and AWD..  brows.gif
*
Yes, i wish i can afford the forester, especially for its 7 airbags and comfort ride, but rm30+k more than mine XV is a lot of $ for me. I've settled with XV for now, maybe next upgrade to forester in 7-10 years, by then, it could be next generation of forester with hybrid or "self-drive" feature smile.gif

Btw, any one know... possible of changing the meter of XX litre per 100km to XX km per litre in the XV?

Tough luck. I would have bought the Forester but I wasn't informed of its impending launch in mid-April when I booked my XV in end March. Besides, my Jetta trade-in value dropped by RM5K after the "Drop Everything" sales by VW was announced, and the second-hand dealer was pressing me for my car. The Subaru dealer loaned me a 2016 XV test drive unit for almost 2 weeks until MI delivered my 2016 XV during the first week of April 2016.
*
Oh, i see, it was timing issue. Nothing much can do now, except enjoy your ride.

As for me... never thinking of getting a subaru, because of MI's list price beyond my reach... until their promo for xv in June smile.gif

Hm . Should I take this offer or wait for year end sale? 120k seems to be still high compared to 94k xv in June.
*
The Forester has better spec than XV, if $ not an issue and don't need new car urgently, should wait till year end sale or early next year, may be you can get the 2016 Forester below rm110k (like Renault selling their old Fluence at rm80k, Renault/Subaru/Nissan...all under Tan Chong Motor in Malaysia), further more no old XV stock now and those 2016 XV is not selling below rm100k.

QUOTE(pai3355 @ Aug 24 2016, 12:56 PM)
120k is okay if u can get with 5 yr free service
*
Yup, 5 year fee labour and parts for XV valued about rm10k, mine 2015 XV bought in June only comes with free labour service only (no parts)... parts replacement costs about rm8k for 5 years, the whole package comes close to rm102k (94k + 8k).

Btw, i think Forester comes with 5 years warranty, free 3 years or 60k km milleage (not 5 year or 100k km) labour and parts service, which valued around rm6-7k. Correct me, if I am wrong.

If the trend of Subaru sales going up, i think is going to be hard for more discount.. but i estimate that for worst scenario the Forester will not below RM100k or lower compare to XV even with all the discount unless it is like over 1 or 2 year no sales.. Most 2015 XV clear stock also did not have free service and maintenance and that why it is so cheap.. I think you get what you pay..
*
Agree. Forester will not cheaper than XV, it will not drop below 100k, unless IM cannot clear 2016 stock by 2018 smile.gif

2015 XV old stock only comes with free labour for 5 years, valued less than rm2k....what to do... me...poor man, who has been dreaming of driving a Subaru...nampak lower priced XV...cepat cepat grab one lol. smile.gif

sometimes cash rebate is better than you get free service. You can use the money and service at any workshop, cheaper price around 10%
*
Yup, cash rebate is the best smile.gif better than any free gifts!

During the first 5 years warranty period... no choice, have to go back to Subaru SC to avoid warranty void.

Compare with similar awd or 4wd car, such as, X-trail and CR-V service charges, seems like Subaru is much costly sad.gif

Yes, if you can get free maintenance and parts (including oil, filter & CVT fluid) would be a great offer. If only just free maintenance (My family XV do have 5 years free service charge, but parts need to pay) only not worth, as they do have few offer in hand.. When i bought the 2.0i-P 2 months back, they only offer 5 years warranty with 3 years free service and parts. So no need to pay anything within 3 years.
*
Yup, best is get free maintenance (labour + parts), mine comes with free labour for 5 years only sad.gif

QUOTE(littlefire @ Aug 30 2016, 07:11 PM)
What i can simplify is..

XV - Crossover SUV, i think the best handling in C-Segment SUV but smallest. Suitable for daily drive to work or some fun time during weekend driving b-road, twisty road or light off-road. Easy to drive and lots of ladies like it, just like my sister..  brows.gif

Forester - Full size C-Segment SUV, best safety (7 Air-bags!), best AWD FC in 2.0 SUV category, best AWD to go light offroad (X-Mode) and family oriented SUV!  If you are a family man, this forester is the car to choose.
*
Best explanation between the xv & forester!
Too bad, i am a 'poor' family man... can afford the xv only smile.gif

Ya, forester haha. yer really ah? but the 24k discount for 2.0i very tempting wo :/
*
If I can choose again, I will get the Forester 2.0i base model over mine xv with about 30k differences, minus off the 3 year free parts & labour worth about 6-7k for the Forester, the price gap is closer...with more safety & roomy sad.gif

I think the 2.0i Forester is one of the best value and affordable SUV, except higher maintenance than other similar range SUV.

Btw, why don't you try to ask the SA to give you "5 years free labour & parts service", I think they are having promo now!

I think it's very hard to get the fuel consumption they quoted, best u can get should be around 10-13km/L
*
I can only get about 7.7km/L or 13L/100km on mine XV for 100% city drive sad.gif (btw mine clocked under 1,000 km, maybe engine belum seasons lagi). Mine other car can get almost double the figures easily at 15km/L or 6.7L/100km ... with only 1200cc & 850kg lah smile.gif
