QUOTE(LongExp @ Nov 15 2016, 03:23 PM) I also got hooked a bit after test driving Forester. I think I will have some hard time deciding between XV and Forester if I am buying now with both are CKD. Can't do much now, $$$ not falling from sky. Just enjoy it and see how things go after 5 years. Maybe can patiently hunt for a fun car in the 2nd had market which really depreciate a lot. I test drove XV for 3 times was hook on it and almost sign up but along came a used very good condition 2003 Forester XT ,it comes with pillar-less door just took it for a spin and that's it !! I paid immediately , even my wife who has little knowledge of car commented " very stable "being using it for 3 years am just an ordinary driver and loves driving on winding roads esp Raub to Fraser Hill, Cameron's roads etc. Just sharing ....

QUOTE(littlefire @ Mar 15 2017, 11:57 AM) Actually nowadays Subaru engine is easy to service, in KL there is a very famous Subaru workshop AE.. I have sent my Xv to visit a few mechanic friends around Penang area and when they saw the new FB20 engine.. sap sap shui.. All filter, water and oil are in 1 place easy to reach, engine is timing chain, the air-con/alternator belt is in front of the engine, easy to change and reach. Only when you need to change the plugs ( @ 100,000km), you will need to bring down the engine and gearbox.. Subaru Boxer engine is not that hard to service nowadays compare to the old EJ20 series, you will need to know where to get the spare parts which a lot of shop also start to keep. There is a few shop in J.Ipoh, KL also bring in Subaru parts and half-cut shop also already have Xv and forester parts coming in. Singapore also have lots of Subaru aftermarket stuff.. Good to know . Normally i sent to AE for major service...old Subie

QUOTE(kevin613 @ Mar 19 2017, 09:24 PM) if you're at southern malaysia, maybe its worth to visit those pro scooby workshop in SG. i had my coil replaced, which required the dashboard to be partially dismantled. no issues after that. I can do it in ipoh and kl..... I believe there's a leak at the coil....thought they have to take down the whole dash board ...no ?

QUOTE(chowyeen @ Apr 29 2017, 06:01 AM) I also notice that the second hand value of this XV is quite low. Is that because of the car is not popular? Thank you By the way what's the second hand value you think it's low ? 😃

QUOTE(littlefire @ May 2 2017, 11:21 AM) All new cars once leave the show room will at least drop 20~30% of it's value, which include Toyota & Honda cars. Follow by yearly depreciation of around 10%, i think a depreciation of at least 30~40% is still reasonable in this market for a 3 year old car. If you own a new Toyota & Honda car same year and price and sell it today, do you think they can give you good RV especially second hand car dealer? Most price you saw in mudah or those website already mark up and the most difference is around 10%, which the difference is around RM7~10k. With this competitive market currently, you can easily get more than 10k discount from new & secondhand / AP car dealers nowadays. So for me, not much issue with it and rarely heard of those driving luxury cars like Merc & BMW owners care much about RV also. Exactly. ..when you drive a Mercedes you don't count your petrol consumtion 😊

QUOTE(RoMa_84 @ May 11 2017, 06:10 PM) Haven't test drove the XT. No unit available. Can afford also but going to burn pocket. Major concern though is the after service for XT because the car is quite rare. Any XT owners here to comment? Being driving the XT for 3 years...the experience is exhilarating. ..your driving experience will top one notch.... Maintenance wise so far so good.😀

QUOTE(attw @ May 12 2017, 07:59 AM) Which means it is a 14-year-old car which is still driving great? Oh each drive is fantastic ! Esp when you're at the traffic stop once the light turns green ...whoosh.....you're way ahead 😀 Few times when overtaking 4 to 5 long trailers and with two saloons in front tagging along..... haizzz it's a pain in the ass esp in trunk road...well even before the saloon in front get to see what's ahead you're already half way passed those lorries 😁😁 Yes overtaking is like a breeze best of all you feel so confident and less danger too !! Now I am worried the next new car for me would a new turbo Forrester.... Why?...because pockets not deep enough ...😬

I tested the XV three times and I did a fast full circle loop with the SA in front and two pax behind ....the car did not even sway or slide...it stuck to the road like leeches and I was sold !! This was my first time introduction to Subie !! Then came this used unit Forrester XT by chance and in immaculate conditions and while test driving my wife who does not know much about cars make this statement... " Wah !! Hao teng !! (Very stable) " The rest is history....😂😂
