I also got hooked a bit after test driving Forester.  I think I will have some hard time deciding between XV and Forester if I am buying now with both are CKD.

Can't do much now, $$$ not falling from sky.  Just enjoy it and see how things go after 5 years.  Maybe can patiently hunt for a fun car in the 2nd had market which really depreciate a lot.

you can also just walk in any custom exhaust shop and ask for the specs u want, they can weld for u

Actually nowadays Subaru engine is easy to service, in KL there is a very famous Subaru workshop AE.. I have sent my Xv to visit a few mechanic friends around Penang area and when they saw the new FB20 engine.. sap sap shui..    All filter, water and oil are in 1 place easy to reach, engine is timing chain, the air-con/alternator belt is in front of the engine, easy to change and reach. Only when you need to change the plugs ( @ 100,000km), you will need to bring down the engine and gearbox.. Subaru Boxer engine is not that hard to service nowadays compare to the old EJ20 series, you will need to know where to get the spare parts which a lot of shop also start to keep. There is a few shop in J.Ipoh, KL also bring in Subaru parts and half-cut shop also already have Xv and forester parts coming in. Singapore also have lots of Subaru aftermarket stuff.. 

if you're at southern malaysia, maybe its worth to visit those pro scooby workshop in SG.
i had my coil replaced, which required the dashboard to be partially dismantled.
no issues after that.

what is the probability the headlamp system failed while turning and never return to straight position?

I also notice that the second hand value of this XV is quite low. Is that because of the car is not popular?

All new cars once leave the show room will at least drop 20~30% of it's value, which include Toyota & Honda cars. Follow by yearly depreciation of around 10%, i think a depreciation of at least 30~40% is still reasonable in this market for a 3 year old car.

If you own a new Toyota & Honda car same year and price and sell it today, do you think they can give you good RV especially second hand car dealer? Most price you saw in mudah or those website already mark up and the most difference is around 10%, which the difference is around RM7~10k. With this competitive market currently, you can easily get more than 10k discount from new & secondhand / AP car dealers nowadays. So for me, not much issue with it and rarely heard of those driving luxury cars like Merc & BMW owners care much about RV also.

Haven't test drove the XT. No unit available. Can afford also but going to burn pocket. Major concern though is the after service for XT because the car is quite rare. Any XT owners here to comment?
