Ron Dennis has banned McLaren's 2007 driver lineup from drinking alcohol.

Despite Ferrari-bound Kimi Raikkonen's supposed alcoholic indiscretions during his tenure in 2002-2006, the Woking based team's chairman suggested that the only sips taken by Lewis Hamilton or world champion Fernando Alonso this year should be champagne on the podium.

After his drivers trained with Olympic athletes in Finland, Dennis told the Mirror: "We don't see why drivers need to have even one drink in the course of a season."

The irony of Dennis' stance, however, is that whiskey sponsor Johnnie Walker's McLaren-associated slogan for this year is: "Be a champion. Drink responsibly."

Speculation has arisen questioning sole tyre supplier Bridgestone's insistence that all teams will be treated fairly.

The Cologne based publication Express observes that while most outfits have unveiled shorter-wheelbased cars to cope with the characteristics and required weight distribution for the current-spec tyre, Ferrari's new F2007 chassis uniquely has a longer wheelbase than in 2006.

It is suggested that Bridgestone may have provided Ferrari, the Japanese company's favoured partner during the now-ended tyre war, with privileged information about the likely direction of development during the season.

Mercedes' Competition Director Norbert Haug responded: "It would be a big mistake for Bridgestone to prefer one partner over the others, so I am completely relaxed."

Mere days after he admitted that becoming Ferrari's team boss would be considered 'an option', Ross Brawn is being linked with a possible switch to the McLaren team.

The rumour has emerged in the German publication Sport Bild, which claims that the Mercedes-powered camp might be on the lookout for a successor for Ron Dennis.

Mercedes' parent company DaimlerChrysler is reportedly looking to buy the rest of Dennis' personal stake in Woking based McLaren, after the Briton sold half to a Bahrain company.

It has been suggested that Dennis, who is approaching his sixtieth birthday, might shift his allegiance to Prodrive as the likelihood increases that David Richards' new entrant will use McLaren cars and a Mercedes engine in 2008.

Sport Bild added that Dennis may be negotiating with Richards to buy up to 70 per cent of the Prodrive Grand Prix team.

Brawn, 52, is this year taking a sabbatical, after following Michael Schumacher from Benetton to Ferrari in 1996 and serving as Technical Director ever since.

Fauzy aiming to get some track time with Spyker
Despite previous reports to the contrary, it is now not certain that test driver Fairuz Fauzy will appear for the Spyker team on the Friday of the Malaysian Grand Prix.

Spyker did not run a Friday driver in Melbourne because of the Giedo van der Garde affair, but it was believed that part of Fauzy's new contract with the Dutch team was the guarantee of a Friday drive at his home circuit at Sepang.

But on the back of news that Spyker will sit out the pre-event Sepang test, Fauzy told the New Straits Times: "The team is still probably having some budget constraints.
So whether or not I'll be part of the Friday testing prior to the Malaysian Grand Prix still isn't confirmed yet."

"I hope I'll get the chance. But nothing is confirmed yet."

Fairuz will also race in the Formula Renault 3.5 World Series in 2007.
