Deepwater Horizon got good reviews from website Rotten Tomatoes; 82% Liked.
https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/deepwater_horizon/ Critics Consensus: Deepwater Horizon makes effective use of its titular man-made disaster to deliver an uncommonly serious -- yet still suitably gripping -- action thriller. Where's the popcorn? This post has been edited by Stamp: Sep 29 2016, 11:17 AM |

QUOTE(meonkutu11 @ Sep 29 2016, 08:52 PM) Actually the company I'm working with now, the Operation fellas are looking at the economic feasibility of a long-term lease of a jack-up rig purposely built for accommodation, to be bridge-linked to an existing platform. The existing platform has no more space to accommodate additional LQs. |

QUOTE(azraeil @ Oct 4 2016, 09:34 AM) Petronas has categorically denied this report. I think the news article has also been pulled from reuters. I wonder if PETRONAS had been a company from a Western country, would the Canadian govt impose the same number of conditions? Yes got approval but with 190 conditions. Mengalahkan Putri Gunung Ledang. |

QUOTE(plain21 @ Oct 20 2016, 12:55 AM) Finally quit civil construction after a year, now going into design office for transmission tower specialist to brush up my steel design skills. While doing part time masters in Cfd. If the industry still in slump, ill force my way through by being a lecturer. Haha. sayang nak abandon OnG as a career choice. Drpd kecik berangan nak design platform, fpso etc dah beso blm dapat lg. The engineering is just too cool for me to give up. Childish reasons, i know, but i never aged haha You can continue to work in onshore design office to get the design experience. Oil&gas consultants do take in experienced design engineers from onshore industry. When I was a fresh graduate engineer in one oil&gas consultant office, I noticed there were a few engineers in the office who were already senior engineers (more than 6-8 years experience) in their previous onshore design companies. They told me they wanted more challenging design works and chose to switch to oil&gas industry.Don't give up on a career in oil&gas. Oil is not a renewable energy and the current oil glut in the global market will eventually subside and demand will come back. Historically there was a boom time right after a recession period. There are many offshore development projects that have been put on hold by Msian PACs. Wait until oil hits USD80, and the development rush will set in. |

QUOTE(ocyrus @ Oct 21 2016, 12:01 PM) Wanna ask the opinion of sifus in here, is having a Chartered Engineer (registered with UK Engineering Council) status sought after in the industry? No, not in Malaysia. No advantage in oil & gas industry. But usually specialists expat do have professional qualifications from their home country.Better get Malaysian PE. Petronas requires lead engineers to have PEs from BEM to work in their offshore platform design projects. This post has been edited by Stamp: Oct 22 2016, 08:28 PM |

QUOTE(plain21 @ Oct 20 2016, 09:54 PM) When I say design I meant Engineering design, not Architectural design. I dont think any Architect is involved as the main consultant for OnG projects. In oil & gas, Process Engineers lead the way in the development of oil & gas faciities. Their roles are more prominent and essential during the concept stage as the process design will determine the most optimum processing methods and equipment to process the oil&gas crude. And they are the highest paid engineers amongst all the discipline engineers in the engineering development team.I dont think its as clear cut as that for OnG. For refineries/other plant construction the architect almost equivalent would be the Process Engineers since all the otherĀ disciplines designed their stuff to acommodate the Process guys. And I think for offshore structures that would be the petroleum engineers/depending on the structure's or equipment's use case. Might b wrong. Other sifus pls correct me If my guess is wrong. Petroleum engineers, subsurface, well design, etc., provide design data to the engineering development team for the development of the processing facilities. These group of engineers are at the forefront in field development and paid well too. This post has been edited by Stamp: Oct 22 2016, 08:30 PM |

QUOTE(DuFfz @ Nov 2 2016, 08:00 AM) if NOC capex and opex were budgeted using USD, then possibly NOC would benefit from RM depreciation against USD.the ones suffer the most were the contractors who bided projects in RM, prior to depreciation of oil price and RM. |

QUOTE(mohdyakup @ Nov 3 2016, 07:46 AM) KUCHING: Brooke Dockyard and Engineering Works Corporation (Brooke Dockyard) has been awarded an offshore platform fabrication contract by Shell which will see the platform being deployed at the E6 field and developed as an integrated oil and gas facility offshore Sarawak. Funny that their first steel cut was less than a week after award. http://www.theborneopost.com/2016/11/02/sh...ation-contract/ Nampak sangat project award was delayed for some time due to political....dot....dot...dot..... |
