Hi all, my sister is using Dell Vostro for 2 years until now KO.
Why KO? Power button problem. My sister need to use for university assignment. Just bought new Asus laptop.

I'm using Lenovo Z50-70 and the laptop is just 1 year plus then already become very slow (Lag too much).

My brother is using Toshiba.
Repair for the 1st time for USB port stuck in. ( Accidentally drop the laptop on the table with Mouse receiver plugged in)
Repair for the 2nd time for Overheating
Repair for the 3rd time for Missing screw.
After all repaired case, they ask to pay even still on warranty. ( Wanna change keyboard ).

At last now the keyboard some of the keys are not working. Have to press hard to get the letter or numbers.

My best options are Asus and HP.

Asus is cheap but quality is Good.

HP is expensive is the best.

You got it so wrong bro. My first laptop dell inspirion 5000 last me more than 5 years and I have seen those of my friends staying in the same hostel using ACER, ASUS or HP sending their sets for repair throughout the period. I'm using dell xps 15 9550 since it first launched in Malaysia last year and the built quality is fantastic, theres some drivers issues at first but dell sorted it out.

you should change to SSD or defrag your HDD often. If not surely will lag

did you try to send that Dell laptop for RMA? try to check if the warranty if it's still available

dell has legendary warranty here and i experienced it myself a few months ago. called dell for RMA of my monitor. next day they came to replace with a refurbished monitor (monitor has been discontinued, so no choice)

else, just send to shop to fix it then. shouldn't be much of a problem i think

and if your laptop is getting slower, there's TONS of possible causes. maybe your laptop has accumulated dust, so the fans don't push out hot air as good which leads to getting your laptop heat up and causing thermal throttling.
or maybe your HDD is not healthy anymore and needs to be replaced
or maybe there's some program in the background interfering with your other programs

i could go on and on about the possible problems.

but from what i see, this is like a bashing thread. you're not even providing enough details on your problems.

if you want something to just work, then buy apple then

Man, it seem like you are trying to promote other brands. First you promote Panasonic in aircond thread. Then you condemn Samsung in Android forum. Now this... get a life.

All this electronic equipment its a combination of a lots of parts, imagine they produces millions of this parts and the chances of your product might have a few not so good parts so it will fail earlier or don't perform well. Its just your luck.

After sales service is superb, call today, 2 working days after come onsite and fix.
Able to extend warranty somemore.

HP and ASUS? if they have onsite service then its good or else, you are wasting your time and resources when your laptop having issue.

I had many Dell laptops before and they served me good. They are reliable and the after sales support was magnificent.
Now using Sony Vaio Flip 13 as my daily driver. Also good and I am satisfied with the performance. Not into gaming though.
My past laptop that gave me headache was the Lenovo Y560 for its over heating and the hinge that broke too many times.....

Funny how you know its bad and still bought it, and now complaining. It totally contradict what you always say in air cond thread.

I bought Acer too, despite all the complaints I read about. Why? Best bang for buck, not warranty. I was lucky that I never had any problem with it until the day it was stolen. Will I encourage other to buy Acer? Yes and No. Yes if you are really tight on budget and no if your main concern is after sales services. One point though, Acer after sales is really not bad, they are pretty decent. Just that why would anyone choose to buy something unreliable in the first place if thats their main concern.

I had 4 Dell notebooks before and each of the notebook served me well 5 to 7 years. I replaced them not because they are broken or what.... I replaced them due to the fact I was following technology and always wanted better specs and better looks. I have only 1 with me now, collecting dust as I seldom use it. If the specs show got 2TB then in the shop you have to request for 2TB. If not, they will give the lowest one.

Go n test all low end GPU from gt 920m to 940m

Then from r5 m330 - r7 m265. Then u baru comments... insignificant different...

In fact r9 almost like gtx 970m... yes u can say AMD hv higher temperature than NV.. but performance wise only gtx 980m n above beat AMD flat out

R480x crossfire is very same to gtx 1070..

Why KO? Power button problem. My sister need to use for university assignment. Just bought new Asus laptop.

I'm using Lenovo Z50-70 and the laptop is just 1 year plus then already become very slow (Lag too much).

My best options are Asus and HP.

Asus is cheap but quality is Good.

HP is expensive is the best.

i bought 10 units hp in 1 delivery, sure got 1 spoilt

i bought 10 units lenovo in 1 delivery, sure got 1 spoilt.

doesn't matter from which company, hardware will have their problems.

so, when chosing a brand, not the hardware itself, but the level of warranty they provide.

buy a laptop, get 3 years on site warranty and live happily ever after.

done.

I'm not sure of the accusation (then again, i've bought no Dell and Lenovo products), but just to point that a company is bad over a faulty power button, is a bit too far fetched, no?

At least a lot of people condemned some Dell products (even the Alienware line up) for being underspecced, overpriced, and Lenovo for bad QA (there are lots of threads about it) forming an unfavourable impression. (Even ASUS got issues with certain lineups)

So what's exactly the issue?

1. Dell product price high becoz all of them come wif onsite service (laptop). only certain PC use carry in warranty

2. asus r known for lousy service

3. lenovo biggest problem is QC base on china standard even though they deny it...

4. if u wan talk bout lasting.. i think current market non can compete to dell latitude... some ppl mayb argue lenovo thinkpad still head to head wif dell.. but in reality lenovo thinkpad ruin IBM thinkpad legacy.. tat y i hate lenovo.. they ruin thinkpad..

5. msi pula over sell... they hire cyber trooper to post everywhere.. n they r too smart to sponsor alot major events

6. personally never like hp since day 1.. u will heard the salesmen shout bout their products n then silence after 2 months.. reason being kena back fire

My HP Envy 17 lasted me since 2011 till now.

So far no problem except for the occasional overheat at palm rest & loud fan noise when working under full load.
Other than those, it worked perfectly.

I just bought ASUS UX305UA as my 2nd laptop recently. So far liking it.

I guess the way you use your machine, how you maintain it, not pushing it too hard, etc, it might even last more than 5 years!

Just bought a Lenovo Ideapad 700 on Monday. This morning suddenly stop charging, and once the battery drain (while I'm trying every fix in the world) I can't turn it on back.

Send back to Lowyat where I bought the laptop and they say may have to wait 7 days.

Google "Lenovo Not Charging" and I realize I'm not the only one with the issue. Seems rampant.

I'm lucky this happen within the 1 on 1 exchange period. After 7 days I have to go Lenovo service centre in Berjaya Times Square.

Sigh.

Did it fix and got back the laptop.

Lenovo battery drains more than others.

My ASUS can last for about more than 6 hours.

For lenovo, about 3 - 4 Hours.

Mine got screen replaced due to screen plug broken. ( After fall from the bed with the pillow on top )

They change normal screen instead of HD at high price.

Read the warranty first before claiming, or else you will look like an idiot. Overheating could be due to dust, usually. Just send 3rd party shop clean kao tim. Research first lor. Buy buy buy then dunno maintenance.. The third repair no comment la, no screw laptop cannot work? o.o

How's yr ASUS condition now.

Heard many chose.

My school all teachers used the same brand is only ASUS.

So far, no one choose TOSHIBA recently.
*
i bought it at Lowyat Plaza, ASUS shop on 2nd floor & used it for about a month now.
Maybe it's still too early to tell about how good the laptop is but then again like i said, the way you treat your machine will dictate how long it will survive in the long run.

It's a lightweight ultrabook (1.3kg), using i5 cpu & intel 520 GPU.
8gb RAM & 256gb SSD.
FHD 1080p IPS matte screen.
ASUS claimed 12hours battery life but i managed to personally tested it and it only able to last around ~7 hours with just normal office works, 70% brightness + WIFI turned on.
Price RM3,999.

i use it mainly for my lectures, doing research & go for conferences & office works (i am an academician).
occasionally i do watch movies on it & do light photoshop editing.
No i don't play games at all with this machine. I got my PS3 for that purpose at home.
so far no problem.

i rarely turned off my laptop. Just close the lid and next morning still able to work perfectly when waking it up.
In the night i fully charged it for about 2hours, the next day in office could last me from 9am-5pm and i still got some 20% batt left.

i got 2 CPU still working. Now collecting dust

2 notebook inspirion and 7 series

so if something spoil it sometimes depend. Could also be your location dusty or hot or bad ventilation or hardware spoil . So by saying DELL sound like you are quite inexperience in hardware and software .

Even my clone CPU i change 2 power supply and 2 graphic card in 6 years but i use it 24/7.

For your info ASUS is cheap but warranty like HELL.
HP many ppl avoid hp because alot problem

Lastly seems like you are inexperience why dont you consult some professional for assistant. Like CPU slow it can be 101 reason could be you are poor in maintaining? You are lack of knowledge in computing like many know to add SSD or increase ram for notebook to have better experience.

That i agree. Any brand can break down but what matter is the warranty after that.

What the point buy cheap when break down wait 1 week to 1 month to repair?

*
My Lenovo Y50-70 suffer a burn motherboard after using it for 6 months,I contacted Lenovo Malaysia on Facebook and they reply me a day later, then a call from Canada HQ request me to drop-in my laptop at the closest service center.

I got a replacement laptop after 2 weeks,not a Y50-70 but a Y700

So no complain here, the best warranty service I've ever see.

But it kinda raise a doubt for me...that I might not buy a Lenovo product ever again

Bought a refurbished Dell XPS 13 9343. Comes with warranty. Arrived dented. Called dell. 2 days later, technician came. Replaced entire backplate. Looks perfectly like new now.

Asus A42JV bought brand new, over heating, called asus brought to shop, tried to fix but failed, say dont know what is causing it, reapplied thermal paste and all, still couldn't fix it. Brought home and continue use. After 1.5 years using suddenly fixed itself, conlanfirm driver issue. (overheating when gaming, temperature hitting 100C, laptop auto shutdown to prevent overheating, light games like dragon nest only..)

There you go.. i rather buy a refurbished for HALF the price but same warranty service, dell for life

(overheating when gaming, temperature hitting 100C, laptop auto shutdown to prevent overheating, light games like dragon nest only..)

There you go.. i rather buy a refurbished for HALF the price but same warranty service, dell for life

Not sure is you unlucky or not taking care. Everything you got or your family got is spoilt here and and there. Lol

Dell is kind of good on general. HP is also great but Asus really not last longer. As for Lenovo sorry never in my list before.

It is really useless to argue with someone who is brand bias. Just take a look at some of his thread. He will even used other experience instead of his own experience to shot it down.

This thread seems more like TS rant and being crybaby. Seriously if you have problem regarding the quality or unsolved driver failure on your laptop, just send RMA to the service center or just claim back your money.
If they refuse just send the complain to KPDNKK (e-tribunal) & let them do their work & settle your problem.

Before that, I've use various kind of laptop models & every single of them works fine for me. Yes, I've Sony Vaio, Acer, HP compaq, Toshiba Satellite, ASUS (ROG & A series), freaking Panasonic (bough it from Japan when I study aboard), Dell Inspiron & the latest Illegear D5 (Clevo P750ZM). All of them works fine, its depend how we use it & detect the problem.
My VAIO, HP Compaq & Illegear D5 have problem before and I've send them to local distributor to solve the problem regarding of my laptop & so far all of them already solve and works charm.

BTW, seriously grow-up & get a life.
You're claim urself as IT specialist and yet you cant handle this simple things. Don't be a cheapskate.

i recalled both my lenovo came with hitachi hdd. it's from slow to ultra slow after few years. i own a b450 & g510. my b450 sometimes wont load windows just stock on the bios screen....
my g510 is using ssd now so no issue with speed. only problem with lenovo is the screen quality is shit.... contrast ratio is pure crap, nevertheless, not an issue if it's just for mobile gaming.

Who Toshiba warranty under which company?

My company laptop Dell Latitude E6410 previously last 4.5 years. Daily use minimum 8hrs, 5 days a week.
Only problem was keyboard where the letter A failed after 1 year but Dell came replace the next day. Very good service. Other than this no problem.
Current one also Dell Latitude E6640 1.5 years no problem.
But I think consumer market and corporate laptops that Dell supply has difference in quality.

Hello , would like to share my experience smile.gif

Been using the Dell XPS M1530 laptop since 2007..
Fast forward 9 years later, the only issue I HAD was the HDD. And that occur like 6 years after i purchased the laptop. Apparently the Seagate HDD was spinning too slow and I cant boot up my computer. So just sendiri buy a Western digital HDD and replace it. Boom, everything back to normal. Next year would be a decade old for my laptop.

So i guess as for my experience, Dell build quality is top notch for me happy.gif

bought 2 lenovo, 1st is Y580, i use 2 years, then i gave it to my mom, use until now, no issue
2nd is Y50. used for about 2 years also, no issue, even upgraded to win10.

i have taken good care of them, and i didn't do much except for my work and gaming, and i use it daily, for both my works and my games.

so its not that the brand is unreliable, its your bad luck.

OK. Asus is good. No complaints so far. Not even 1 time still OK.  No repairing or malfunction.

just lucky... last time i buy asus... test at shop, good, everything perfect. went home, could not even start. found out. hdd dead. 2 weeks need to wait to get hdd replacement.. so, is it good?

I rather say, certain model of each brand always be a cancer. and how taking care and usage determine laptop lifetime. today, you said asus good, so yeah, its normal to sticks to that brand. next few months (who knows), u will say this brand sucks. doh.gif

so is there any perfect brand? hmm.gif
